think you answered your own question there

  • Anyone know if it's dual or single SIM?

    Tried searching

    • technically dual SIM - 1 x nano SIM, 1 x eSIM

  • Anyone knows if we need to send the charger and cable?

  • Order just reverted from 'Preparing Dispatch' back to 'Processing' for the second time in the past two weeks.

I don't think I'm actually going to get this phone xD

  • +1

Some standard colour 'Ultra' models are back in stock..for anyone interested.

  • I didn't save a copy of my Trade ID and the app no longer shows it, is there any way to obtain it?

    • You should have received an email from [email protected] with your IMEI and Trade ID shortly after ordering

      • +1

Hmm, I did not, oddly enough. Wonder if this explains why I haven't received the Trade In postage email too…I only received the OTP for email verification.

        • The only email I received is the OTP email.
I didn't receive the phone yet though.

          edit:
I just had a look at some email server logs / filters. Asurion / Samsung never sent me an email with IMEI / TradeUp ID.

          • @dragonos81: Found it with my browser's autofill. But ya…time to send off an email.

          • @dragonos81: same for me as well.. got the OTP and no email after that..

  • I'm getting "Sorry, your device is ineligible for the Samsung Trade-up program"

S10e :( it's in perfect condition and the website estimates it should be $175… wonder if they are just not taking them at the moment?

I thought I installed it the other day to check it and it worked, but not working now.

  • Trade up ID failed at checkout even though my CC details was verified through the app.
Read in a comment to uninstall and try and get a new trade up ID.
Now, app says my device is ineligible for the program…sigh

    • You need to clear the cache / data storage for that specific app

  • Anyone have the latest update with not returning the trade-up phone?
I received my warning email last week and it's supposed to be in today.

Card used for tradeup - ZIP single-use card
    Paid Samsung via Afterpay

Anyone know if they can still charge the single-use card the $5 for my trade in?
Or force the bonus of $300 from Afterpay?

    • zip onetime card would be safer method. afterpay they can always do charges later on. i did chat now rep said you would not be charged by samsung for the $500 promo discount but Asurion will charge you if the phone fails their tests. rep also said thet $200 discount was only for a customer that phone couldnt be repaired so they arent doing that anymore. great offer but s21 5g is out stock and only ultra is available atm. will check stock levels tomorrow. does apphave to be installed on phone you are trading in or any phone ? is there a way around it as my s7 wont start now?

      • +1

have your chat transcript saved.. :)

      • Can Asurion charge you the trade in cost only or trade in cost plus promo discount, in case of a failed test?

        • Ausrion can only charge the trade in cost as thats what they are aurhtoized to do. Not sure if samsung can charge our debit cards for the 500$ promos. I mean they shouldnt be able to

          • @U30004: Yeah that makes sense. So in essence, the promo discount is in "good faith" hoping that the trade in works out.

            • @monstermash: thats how I read it. Ausrion was paying the trade in value as a discount to samsung, if we dont send the phone or its ineligible then they would just charge us that trade in discount. Samsung's promo bonus is a marketing gimmick

              • +1

@U30004: Yeah I just spoke with Samsung support (pretty hopeless and clueless).
Basically, they said they are the mediator of the deal and it's all through Asurion.
I doubt they have the capability to charge back bonus credit that is separate from them.

                • @asaprocky: clueless/hopeless indeed

                • @asaprocky: I got told this yesterday too in the Samsung live chat that we are only mediators and cannot charge $500 but not sure how much your non- return fee is and that is what you will be charged by Asurian.

                  • @BinnyC: Got told similar yesterday that Asurian will charge a non return fee up to $300. This despite the email saying will get charged for the trade up value.
In the terms and conditions I do remember reading there was different fees.
                    Eg
                    - a fee for not returning
                    - a fee for returning a different phone
                    - a fee for returning phone in different condition.

Not sure if they state what the costs associated for each one are

                    • @Schumi5: its the same fee for all the above

                    • @Schumi5: Non-return fee (or any other fee) should be the trade-in discount they applied - in my case $175 (got screenshots of it).
Asurion only has a debit card that I usually don't use. Will only have enough money for the fee in it.

                    • @Schumi5: I believe it is the non- return fee i.e the handset cost that was generated by trade up app in either scenario.

  • Bought ultra 256gb, trade with S9 plus Samsung voucher with total price of $1074.. Paid with new ANZ cc, will get $500 gift card easy…. Very good deal indeed, thanks OP.

  • Well, I e-mailed the trade up e-mail regarding the lack of a return shipping label. Got a useless generic reply back that I should've received one and to check spam and such. Now I've replied that I've received jack-all, will see what they say but it's already day 8. $375 trade in too…

    • +1

just dont send your phone, easy

      • 1 week in and I also have yet to receive email from Asurion on mailing them the phone. Not in spam, junk or whatever they claim to have sent to. Once they send in the reminder I will email back again and say instruction not yet received.

I'm pretty sure these practices can be used to challenge if we get charge back the $500 after receiving didly squat confirmation from Samsung/Asurion? ACCC or other sort of commissions?

        1. 0 instruction on phone return
        2. Asurion 0 response to emails (with proof)
        3. Multiple chat reps confirming no $500 charge back
        4. Return policy on new phone 14 days only
        5. Ridiculous return policy as has to be unopened and Samsung/Asurion essentially forcing you to keep it for that long because 0 instructions on mailing back phone + whatever days it requires to reach them and assessment.
        6. You have no phone for 14 days as you need to return phone to Asurion, forcing you to use the new phone, i.e. breaking return policy clause.

Wouldn't things like this be unfair practices etc.

        • yup, agreed

        • Not sure whether you can check your order status on Samsung site, if you can, check to see if it is dispatched or delivered. Mine is stuck on dispatched. Basically, officially, on Samsung's system, the new phone is yet to be fully delivered to you (yeah, I know, makes no sense since StarTrack status updated to delivered the same day/hour it was delivered). I did ask Samsung support staff to see whether he/she can update it, the CSR couldn't do it and was told a system migration was in progress.

However, if yours is showing delivered status on Samsung site and still no return label… then… well, Samsung wants you to go to Asurion and Asurion would reply as the e-mail should have been sent out as part of the whole process from Samsung….

          • +1

@netsurfer: This is some response I got from samsung chat rep

"Please note that it is the phone we offer in the website, and it's the Asurion Team who have the $500 discount for the trade up, including the value of your phone. Samsung is the one who advertise the promotion on our website, so you can get information. The credit card details that is asked on the app is to make sure you are returning your old phone to the trade up team. The credit card details that is asked on our end is about paying the product to take advantage of the availability."

so $500 is definitely by Asurion and one of the Asurion rep says promotion stays regardless (one of the screenshot in the thread).

            • @yontk: I am confused now

              • @U30004: which part?

                • @yontk: the part where "Ausrion team have 500$ discount for the trade-up, including the value of your phone"

I thought the promotion of 500$ is run by samsung as a marketing gimmick and Ausrion would get their hands on some cheap 2nd hand phones.

End of the day if we dont send the phone and just pay the non-return fee as outlined by Ausrion in the app while putting in the credit card details, it a great deal

                  • @U30004: i thought that too but Vodafone have the same deal (better trade value) via Ausrion so i'd believe if the whole promo is through them rather than Samsung

                  • +1

@U30004: This rep I talked to doesnt think the 500 is on samsung but rather Asurion. No straigjht answer tbh.

                    • @yontk: that makes sense since the Vodafone trade in deal is done by Asurion and they are the one offering the $500 credit along with trade in value of phone.

So to me looks like Asurion will charge $500 promo if you don't meet their agreements in the TnC

            • @yontk: Yes there is a screenshot that says promotion stays as it is regardless.

          • @netsurfer: haha that happened to me (stuck on dispatched) with Optus when i got my S10+/…legit i didnt want a big bill to creep up on me so i contacted them no less than once a month telling them i have the phone…2 years later almost to the day, i went to Optus chat and asked for my 2019/20 chatlogs and a few days later traded in for the S21 Ultra.

            • @ExtraSalt: So did Optus charge you for the phone (assuming there is a monthly repayment) eventually?

Anyway, my main concern is sent e-mails to Asurion but no reply from them at all.

              • @netsurfer: Nope. I did everything I could to be honest but there is a limit to it and decided I got to away with a free phone. I left Optus 18 months into my plan and haven't had a call since

                • @ExtraSalt: Well, you tried. I basically asked Samsung CSR to change the order to delivered in hope the label e-mail will be sent, but the CSR was not able to do that. Already wiped my old phone.

I cannot confirm whether that's the issue or Asurion had issues sending me e-mails (tried e-mailing them multiple times, no reply so far). All I have so far is an OZBer who had received that e-mail with the label checked his Samsung order status for me. His order status is in delivered status.

        • I got my phone delivered yesterday. Samsung order tracking shows status "Dispatched" and the little dots show "Delivered".
No email regarding the trade-in yet.

Getting in touch with Asurion once I received the first "reminder". Used a debit card during the TradeUp verification process and will only load the device value on it.

          • @dragonos81: Thanks for the info. For my order, the little dots are still showing "On the way". Not getting any e-mails from Asurion (I sent them 2 e-mails so far). Starting to suspect maybe gmail block e-mails from them.

            • @netsurfer: I'm not using gmail. I've my own email sever with access to log files. All I received from Asurion was the OTP email. Others mentioned that I should have received an email with IMEI and TradeUp ID - but it never even got attempt to be delivered.

      • Well, if that's the case, might as well sell my phone for $500

        • Why not

  • Anyone know approximately how long it takes to get the new phone after ordering? Was hoping to purchase today or tomorrow and get it before Thursday 15th at the latest.

    I'll try live chat otherwise.

    TIA

    • +1

Normally it would take 1 day, i.e. ordering Thursday morning would arrive Friday, but there have been a bunch of delays in the last week. I ordered last Tuesday and my phone only arrived today. Considering Easter public holidays, though, you shouldn't have any problem.

  • has anyone got the esim working with Optus ? on the s21 ultra 5G ?

  • man, Asurion really su*ks! first it stuck in the IMEI validation and kept getting "Sorry, we are having a problem executing your request. Please try again later" error. A few days later, trade up app works and it proceed to credit card step which I put in the correct CC info (which I used to generated a trade-id previously but expired) and this time it keep saying "Card validation failed. Unable to validate credit card info". C'mon Samsung/Asurion! (hence the trade in phone value dropped $35 a few days later)

For anyone that has been waiting, Samsung have recently restocked some of the S21 and S21+ models that have been out of stock for almost a week

    • Yep, came here as well to report the stock is back.

  • Just went through the ordering process and just before checkout it says

    "Bonus $500 offer ends 29.04.2021."

So looks like they extended it?

    • +1

      "Bonus $500 offer ends 29.04.2021."

Not sure, on the main site it said 8/4/21 was 29/4/21 before.

      • What to believe!? 🤦‍♂️

        • +1

Someone mentioned this before. Trade in is available till 29.04
Special price ($150of rrrp) to tomorrow

  • +1

Has anyone try to $200 code if it's still work? It's a shame that the trade up value is lower as well. Without $200 discount and less trade-up value, feel like missing a lot.

    • Maybe they lowered the trade in values to recover the losses of people stacking the $500 and $200 in the first place? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • I was just on chat with a samsung rep. They issued the $200 code to me and then advised that it can't be stacked. I tried it on the site and it wouldn't stack.

    • i just tried the S10+ again from my original order last week and the trade in rate is still the same…is yours a big loss from previous?

      • It was $150, down to $115 now, it's not a big loss but the $200 extra discount is a lot.

        • Yeah it was for me too, but it was still a great deal regardless. Are you gonna make the plunge? It'll be an extra 200 on top after this promo ends.

          • @ExtraSalt: Agree, It's not the best but it's still a great deal. Just ordered while they have in stock.

  • If I block the credit card or cancel it, can Asurion/Samsung still charge? I am definitely going to send old phone but I dont trust them.

    • not sure but have the same question.

  • +1

    S21 back in stock

  • Received email from asurion said yet to receive my device.

What a joke, already sent back long time ago with auspost tracking and said delivered.

    EDIT:

I used my package will there be a problem?

    • When did AusPost deliver the package? Was the e-mail a generic reminder email from Asurion?

      • When did AusPost deliver the package?

On 1April tracking said delivered REGENTS PARK NSW, I used my box with their label and scanned at auspost.

        Should be fine, right?

  • I just contacted samsung live chat support asking what happens if i do not return the phone as my phone is worth more than the trade in offer. I am better of selling it myself and eating the device Fee. The 1 worry i have is being also charged the $500 bonus.
    https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/assets/au/terms/trade-up/samsung-online-trade-up-terms.pdf?$ORIGIN_PDF$

"means a fee which is equal to the amount of the discount You received when Your unique Trade ID was applied at the point of sale when You purchased Your New Samsung Device Online in accordance with clause 5.2 of these Terms and Conditions."

<——- I am worried they could say the $500 fee is part of the discount which technically it could be?
Can anybody confirm exactly what will happen if the device is not returned?

    • This hasn't really been clarified by anyone yet, but I would say it is possible you could be charged back as not sending the phone would be going against the t&c's of the purchase. Others have been saying the opposite though

  • S21 seems to be back in stock. Just placed an order for the 256GB one.
The $50 stacked up as well.

  • Back in stock but keep receiving an error when I out in my code " Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"

    • Check the deal description you have to enter credit card details in trade app

      • anyone else is experiencing credit card validation error as well?

        • +1

I had that for a while, but worked later with the same credit card.

          • @harisubs: that's what I thought. must be the server which is playing up. thanks mate

      • Na my cc got accepted and went through, must be something else at their end

  • can someone help pls? I am trying to trade in S8+ but seems power button test failed every time. Not sure why? Its working fine no issue. As i hold it screen with restart, power off turn up so what else is wrong?

    Thanks

    • press 'start' then trigger your button, it'll lock your phone. Unlock and then press start again and it should register

      • Thank You. It worked. Also if i have a crack on screen, will device be eligible for trade up? I did select dents and after even all ticked, its saying device is not eligible. No idea why?

        • I'm gonna say depending on age and model of device, the moment you say its got a cracked screen or water damaged they will quote it as $0 unfortunately. you can try go to the end and see if it gives you a tradeup ID to see if you are still eligible for the bonus $500 but its doubtful

    • Press start button on test screen and then click power button once to lock screen and then press power button again to woke screen to continue test. Hope it helps your question!.

      • Thank You. It worked. Also if i have a crack on screen, will device be eligible for trade up? I did select dents and after even all ticked, its saying device is not eligible. No idea why?

so many "unwanted Gifts" coming up on my facebook now….if only i held onto those S7 and S8's haha

    • +1

Funny watching the resellers, you have the greedy ones in dreamland asking $1250 for standard s21 128gb lol, then you have the quick exit sellers with ultra 512gb for $1250, value of these phones are going to drop to absolute shit by end of year due to this promo, downside of Samsung they price high at release & within months aggressively drop the price ruining the resell value, they’re better off pricing lower from launch completely undercutting Apple making them looked overpriced & minimising the discounts following release

      • +1

Good idea, I'ma go online and have a squiz!

  • Anybody used their own packaging to return the old device?

I received received email from Asurion said yet to receive my device, I just replied them I use auspost tracking returned on 30March and said delivered on 1April

    • I did. I returned my old phone with the package the new one came in on Thursday last week and it was somewhere in NSW today, but hasn't been delivered yet. As long as the AusPost (or you) printed out the label they emailed us then it should be fine. I think I originally saw you (or someone else) in the comments mentioning using the old box so I thought that's actually safer. I used both boxes, the bigger one and the phone one. My S10+ was almost the same size as the S21 Ultra. Just removed the old label and made sure the phone was well cushioned.

      • I just read the email again and saw this

        1. Print or take an electronic copy of the attached Australia Post eParcel label to your nearest Australia Post
        2. You will be provided packaging to securely return your device.
        3. Ensure you obtain a lodgement receipt for proof of return. Note: you will not be charged for packaging and delivery costs.
        • Yeah, was aware of that but I remember someone saying AusPost doesn't give you a hard box to put the phone in. I already had the boxes with me so the staff member at the post office said they can put the label on the original box and send it that way. Thought that would be more secure and protective.

        • We know an OZBer indicated his LPO refused to provide any packaging material for free (he had to pay).

Regarding obtaining a lodgement receipt for proof of return. That's pretty standard and it basically means there will be a scan event stating received by AusPost (it is in case you lodged it and then it got lost without seeing any more scanning event).

However, in your case, you already have the most important tracking event: delivered. Yet, either Asurion is either being super slow and not yet processed it (so their system sent you a reminder email) or something funny / dodgy happening at their end. Easter long weekend didn't help and I doubt the 7 days is 7 business days. I reckon it is just 7 calendar days.

E-mail Asurion and inform them that based on AusPost parcel tracking, it is already delivered.

          • @netsurfer:

E-mail Asurion and inform them that based on AusPost parcel tracking, it is already delivered.

Done already, with scanned copy and the auspost delivered tracking link.
