This is definitely the new model, you can tell by the share button.

    • Thanks for the confirmation.

  • -2

Any recommendations for a github app for these controllers? I have 4 different controllers for pc and they all work for different things. The consistency is appalling. Some work for emulators, some work for win10 games and some don't work for uplay for example.

I must have some sort of driver imbalance, too many different Chinese Xbox controllers.

And in title, please update to reflect Xbox one controllers or whichever version.

    • +1

I'm just using the name that is used by Microsoft and all the other retailers. I'll stick a latest model in there. Hopefully that will help.

    • +14

A genuine Xbox controller with adaptor is probably the most compatible controller you will get for windows and applications, they even work well on Android. They are all made in China.

      • ive got the 8bitdo connector for an xbox one controller. Has lag and doesnt work well with some emulators.

My genuine xbox 360 controllers seem to be the best, as 4 can connect to the one usb dongle. one needs to be pulled apart and cleaned.

        • I had real issues with my 8bitdo dongle with my Steam Link; had to use a USB extension cable so it was pointing directly at where I sit infront of the TV. Works great on PC though!

    • ?? Bluetooth. Does your mobo not support BT 4.0?

      • I think this could be the problem, as the multiple BT connections are causing something. Previous Z97i motherboard had terrible bluetooth that often conflicted.

    • Maybe don't buy shitty ass controllers off eBay? Buy one of these with a Xbox Wireless USB adapter and you're good to go.

      • Yes and no. I've had success with gamesir, which is by no means ass. My recent purchase was a wired xbox 360 controller off aliexpress (description said wireless). Worked great for ryujinx but then after trying the chinese xbox360 driver hack/mod, it barely registers as 3 functioning gamepad buttons. Delete and start again.

    • Whilst I've had issues with the XInput driver and controllers between generations (360 to Xbox One), since then, I haven't had any issues. Are you using random controllers which are advertised as Xbox/Windows compatible, or actual official Xbox controllers?

      • I'm using a combination of random controllers and official. As above, I've got an 8bitdo receiver with an official xbox one controller (and windows 10) which works well in some games/launchers but not in others. Initial problem here is the poor consistency running multiple controllers (and dongles/usb).

When I use CEMU (an emulator that has a good controller setup) I can see that some controllers are being discovered as xinput or direct input, and thats using the range of 360-xbone controllers. Actually, CEMU seems to have the ability to use 360, xbone official (and aliexpress xbox one, that has a 360 dongle) and gamesir all at the same time.
But with launcher games (steam, uplay) they seem to only want one controller. Playing division 2 on my official xbox one controller has stick drift automatically, so i use the gamesir.

I'm hoping there is a diagnostic tool out there that works better than windows game controller settings.

In the near future, I may just buy 2 more xbox 360 controllers to use with the one dongle for 4 player, and that'll be the best way to deal with this. the originals have had the best compatibility.

Thanks all for the feedback here and OP for the original post.

  • indeed a great price doe series x controller!!

  • Question is white or black 👀

    • +3

      Black, white ones get dirty

      • +5

Sorry to say, they're both equally dirty

    • +1

Replace the front plate with something fancy - then it doesnt matter if its white or black.

  • Have one for PC, the share button doesn’t do anything on computer, is that normal ?

  • Got one, for Xbox one!!

    • does it work fine with xbox one x ?

      • +1

"Easily pair and switch between devices including Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Android."

        This is what is mentioned!

        • Theres also a trick with the sync button when swapping between PC and console once synced

          as per this website https://www.theverge.com/22273528/how-to-xbox-series-x-contr…

but the main part you want to know is below:

To use your controller with your Xbox Series X again, double-tap the sync button. The Xbox logo will flash slowly, and then the controller should reconnect with your console.

      • Yes and your Xbox One X controller will work on Xbox Series X|S

    • +4

      Ok, didn’t really ask though.

      • All ways that one person

    • +16

      AA batteries = way better.

I change batteries and I'm playing again. Beats having to connect a cord for hours.
Also, my ps3 controllers are sitting there dying whilst all my Xbox controllers will last forever.

      • +6

        This guy gets it!

I forgot to mention that, yeah, if the battery dies in your remote and it's stuck in there forever and can't be easily removed or replaced, your remote is as good as dead. If a battery dies in my Xbox, I rip it out, throw it in the bin, and chuck in another.

      • +1

My Xbox joysticks die before my ps4 battery does. Also ps4 battery seems to last much much longer.

        • +4

Your Xbox joysticks died in 5 hours or so? I'd say that's an odd one, probably worth returning your remote.

Longer than what? The standard Play and Charge kit of Xbox? bc even that ain't true. Like your obvious fanboy shit aside, the PS4 has a giant billboard size disco rave light on the back of it that's inherently gonna make it's battery drain quicker than any other controller.

          • +1

@TheDukeOfNukem: Haha nah I mean the Xbox one controllers would die, as in break before my ps4 controller would break, or the battery life was diminished. I meant last longer than cheapo aa battery in Xbox one.

            • +1

@onlinepred: Look maybe, idk what you do with your remotes. All I can say is, in my 15 or so years of gaming, the only remotes to ever give me issues, and that's with owning every major console since the PS2 dropped at some point, were cheap shitty third party ones, and the Nintendo Switch.

              • +1

@TheDukeOfNukem: Xbox 360 controllers the rubber on the sticks would become very soft. That was launch controllers. Not sure about later ones. My Xbox one controller stick for a dead zone that got larger and larger. I used to game a lot though, maybe that’s why.

                • @onlinepred: Yo, that (profanity) sucks dude.

Shit absolutely happens, I'm not saying it doesn't, just that I've been relatively lucky, outside the Switch. I at least found the Xbone to be a good quality controller, and the X|S seems the same for me. I didn't get a PS3 until late 2011 anyways my guy, and a 360 a year later but never played a shitload of it since I played what I liked on the PS3, 360 is probably the controller I used the least so if it was super common, guess I dodged it.

            • +1

@onlinepred: Well if you use “cheapo AA” that’s your own fault; most would use Eneloops or similar.

              • +4

@smartazz104: I used rechargeable aa. I use rechargeable in place of most things, because you know, the environment and all.

    • +2

Neither are worth what they ask, but I used to think like you in the PS3 days when I finally got one.

      I was wrong.

AA's IS the way to go. Play and Charge kit for Xbox One is 1400 mAh supposedly. I have 2 rechargable Duracell AA's in my XSX remote. They promise 30 hours on the P&C kit. My Duracells are 2600 each, so 5200 total, ie 3.714 (lmao, pi), times as much, ie, 111 hours of actual turned on play time, ie, 4.625 straight days of gaming off a single charge.

Now I can't comment on the PS5 one because stock still ain't back anywhere for me, but the DualShock 4 would be lucky, (profanity) LUCKY to get more than 5 hours per charge.

I'll take a couple of AA's I rip out and charge once every month or two at absolute most over that any day. Plus, I can still play corded when flat, or chuck in a couple spare AA's if needed while I wait for the Duracells to charge up in their lil charger thing.

      Not even a competition.

      • +1

Just FYI, ps4 and 5 can charge and play using a standard USB cable. Battery life is an issue. I always have two controllers anyway so charge one while using the other is very easy. Ps5 seems to last me a full day of gaming with all dual sense features on. If only dual sense had replaceable battery then would be perfect. The haptic engine adds so much to the game, along with the speaker. Worth the battery drain

        • Maybe for you, I used to turn vibration off on the system level, never really cared for it. Sony said back in 2006 that vibration was "last gen" when they didn't have it…we all know it's because of the legal shit with DualShock and whatnot but whatever, they said it, and I agree. It's not really anything I give a toss for myself. I know I'm the outlier there though, lot of people love it.

          • @TheDukeOfNukem: Oh man, I gotta say I thought it was going to be a gimmick like I thought the speaker was, once you get used to it, is very Hard going back to a game that doesn’t support it. It’s nothing ground breaking but adds a fair bit when you can feel things happening in game. I had it I’d in the Xbox 360 and one days too.

            • @onlinepred: I'm interested to check it out in that Astro game when I can finally get a hold of a PS5. I enjoyed those games on the PS VR so I was gonna check the game out either way but it's apparently a real good tech demo for the vibration. Plus a quick platinum never hurt anyone.

              • +1

@TheDukeOfNukem: I bought a ps5 at launch from Amazon and a second at jb for a family member. Found out very easy. Just put my name on a list.

              • +3

@TheDukeOfNukem: DualSense is quite interesting though so far only Astro's Playroom takes full advantage of it. It's more than just vibration (in fact it is the other features which makes it feel different to traditional controller). DualSense does have stronger vibration by default (compared to DS4) so PS4 games do kinda feel better when playing through DS controller.

That said, I doubt many games will support DualSense. I only have Miles Morales (I can only feel vibration and the speaker support in that game). I don't like Souls type games. Also, for one of Astro's Playroom's time attacks, I turned off adaptive triggers (to get better time). When you play competitive FPS or third person shooter games, would most people leave adaptive triggers on?

AA batteries vs built in lithium ion battery - I don't think using AA batteries is a clear cut winner. It's okay if you have a spare set of Eneloop batteries on standby. Spare standard NiMH rechargable batteries aren't good by the time you actually need to use them.

I received low battery warning for the controller 1 hour ago (Series X), played 1 more hour (still going). Then, simply took out 1 battery and put that battery back, now it is no longer showing low battery.

      • +1

        ie 3.714 (lmao, pi)

        I don't think that's pi.

        • +1

          (profanity), I didn't notice the 7.

    • +1

You don't have a single eneloop? The force to resist is strong with this one

    • Weird how people cry about not being able to easily replace their phone battery but they are fine having an integrated controller battery. There’s a better chance your PS controller battery will die in 1.5 years.

  • How is the v2 model? I remember earlier threads saying the xb1 controllers were better than the v1 x/s controllers

    • +3

      Me personally.

I loved the launch Xbox One controller I had. Eventually in 2020 I parted with it when I upgraded (relative to my situation, it was an upgrade, yes) to an XBone SAD Edition and sold my old one. I absolutely did not like the S version. Bluetooth is nice but the buttons felt cheaper, clickier in the wrong ways, all round chunky, did not like it.

The Series X controller though, this one, I (profanity) love it. The little grippy texture on the back of the controller where your hands go, the clicky tactile dpad, the bumpers, even the little grips on the triggers, like it feels like a slightly refined and improved version of my beloved Xbox One launch controller. The One S / v2 I was not a fan of at all. I used it this morning actually (I threw the One S at the missus place) and it just feels like a more plasticy cheaper version of this new one, no going back.

USB C too, is something a lot of people like, I myself just chuck in a couple rechargable AA's so the port out the end means nothing to me. But something to note.

I think this remote is the best console controller I've ever used, though I'm yet to buy a PS5 and think you're a moron if you spend a couple hundred on one of those Elite controllers, so I've tried neither of those. NVIDIA Shield is a close-ish second bc of that volume slider, but for my money, and for this price really, I don't think you'll get a better (licensed anyway) controller.

      • Agreed with your impressions of series S|X controllers. But I don't know - I still have a real soft spot for Xbox 360 controller if I don't think about the crappy D-pad on that thing. Just something about the balance on that thing especially for someone like me who has smaller than average hands for adult male.

      • The new triggers, some people like the slightly shorter triggers, but some people don't. The new hybrid D-pad is a bit too noisy for me. I am keeping one XBox One X controller (whereas I am quite happy to let go of my spare DS4 as I do feel DualSense is better in every way compared to DS4).

USB-C, honestly, both Microsoft and Sony did not implement it properly on the controllers. On Microsoft side, we are looking at USB-A to USB-C, which means USB-PD is out. It's actually the same on Sony side, while there is a USB-C port on PS5, DualSense doesn't support USB-PD. Thus, when you use a charger and cable that belongs to a setup that enforces USB-PD (i.e. Apple USB-C fast charger with Apple original USB-C/USB-C cable), you cannot charge DualSense controller. Thus, in reality, both controllers simply change the port itself despite deep down it only has the wiring equivalent to USB-A.

Great to see a price drop on the controller. Pity I already have 2 of these + 1 old XBox One X controller. Not a big fan of Kogan unfortunately.

        • I still use my Xbox one controller due to the shorter triggers, the top of the control feels more narrow for me as well.

Love everything else about the control though, they just need to add more vibrators like sony and revert the shape back to Xbox One and it would be the perfect controller

  • +3

Xbox Series X DPad and the buttons are very clicky and loud when pressed. . Normal Xbox One controller is a bit better imo.

  • Need a Bluetooth box controller for Xbox cloud, will this work?

  • Grabbed one as a second controller with free trial for Kogan First.

    • +8

cancel the sub asap. that charge comes fast and big

I have had problems on the mapping of buttons with this controller, my 8bitdo works fine but.

  • +1

Is this Australian stock/does it come with a local warranty?

  • back to $79

  • -1

Even Series S/X controllers are now cheaper than xbox one controllers? Cmon, just drop the damn price of xbox one controllers already! I'm still trying to get a set, but I aint paying $80+!

  • It’s still $59 for members

  • Placed order for xiaomi air purifier on Saturday night and realized it was wrong address, Asked them to change the address immediately, finally they shipped this mrng to wrong address again, they don't even have a telephone no. worst customer service. shame that they don't allow me to change the address my self.
will never order from kogan again

  • Thanks OP grabbed a black one. Really want a blue one but not for $30 extra…

  • -5

An outdated/ancient tech/recycled/over rated controller should never cost more than $40!! But it's m$, sadly brainwashed allow m$ to get away with anything….

  • This deal is actually still available. Just grabbed the white one: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/xbox-wireless-controller-robot-…

  • has anyone had random disconnects on these? (not due to timeout) over bluetooth?
internet is littered with mentions of it and MS working on a fix.. but not seen a fix yet (This is connected to Windows 10)

  • 2 controllers for 69?

    • lol no, just 1

  • Just received mine today. It has sharp edges around it, the plastic feels very cheap quality, feels like some kind of replica from Aliexpress….

    • That's no good, no sharp edges on my 3. I would return it as it sounds like you got a inferior unit.

    • mine also arrived today. it came in a plastic sachet that's non-padded and thus, the box was damaged. I inspected the controller. It was fine, so I won't chase them up about it. certainly not buying from Kogan again though!

I hate the hassle of having to return things.

on another note. can we use any usb-c to usb-c/usb-a cable to connect the controller or we have to buy the official one?

      • Mine arrived today and works perfectly with the USB3.1 -> USB-C cable I bought for my Quest back when Oculus Link went into public beta, so at the very least, any 5Gbps+ USB3.1/USB-C cable should be fine.
