It might help your cause if you put in the price after discount!

    • +1

prices will vary depending on the package you pick afaik.

      • +3

You could put "prices from…$" in the title, and then put the several packages in the main post.

        • +1

No room left in Title for me to put price. It's not hard to work out the price.

        • True, could have added something but imo the bargain is directed at people who wont need to know the price, the fact its 30% is more than enough info.

  • Beat me to posting this… Was 30% off in September (my post) and I reposted a few weeks ago when it had only 15% off. So this is a good deal.

    • The one you posted was the US one unless you found a way to use the 15% off offer?

Tried to get answers but no one replied lol

I renewed my TN standard subscription for AU$182 using this code. Originally $260

    • I also just nenewed Standard for $182. Great discount.

  • Are the licenses still restricted to 2 licenses per version?

    • Two Licenses, 10 activations per license I believe.

  • Is there a list of software included in technet standard subscription? It only says most MS, not very detailed.

    • Looks like they've changed it, (the site) it used to have a massive list, and extremely detailed…good deal though, will be renewing.

    • What are you after?
I might be able to help you out ;) ;)

      • Just wondering if it includes Windows Server OSes, Exchange 2010, Active Directoy, Office 2010 and Sharepoint in the standard subscriptions.

        • I can get you Office 2010 without a warez site and technet subscription, and sharepoint is in Office Professional Plus.

  • if you had 5 keys per product as per old subs, by renewing, do they take away the existing keys?

  • Technet Standard ($236 with this discount code) is still cheaper via amazon.com - A$189.88 shipped (using Amazon's currency conversion). You just have to wait for the activation code to arrive by mail.
    See http://www.amazon.com/Technet-Std-2010-English-Programs/dp/B…

It is easy to activate, apparently the retail boxes are not region specific so you don't need a US address, mail forwarding, US credit card or anything like that. Refer to the discussion on Whirlpool which includes many endorsements of buying via amazon.com.

    • I was just looking at amazon, you beat me to it :)

  • Any popular Microsoft products will be releasing in 2012? Hope Windows 8 will be available before the end of 2012 (or end of 1 year subscription).

  • With this subscription, you can download MS software (e.g. Windows) and you are entitled to use the license without any timed/feature limits?
I.e. Once technet subscription expires, you can continue using the software for "evaluation" purposes.

    Can anyone confirm this? Cheers.

    • Yes, you can continue to use them. In fact, it would be best to claim all the licenses before your subscription expires.

  • I went through to see if the discount would apply to Standard as well, it appears that it does.

  • I am sure everyone who has read this far is aware that a tech net sub does not allow you to use the software for production purposes.

Also, purchasing via Amazon US will be against the licence conditions.

my point is if you are not going to adhere to the licence conditions then you may as well hit pirate bay.

I'm thinking about this for home use… at work we have an "Action pack" which I understand is similar - but for production enviroments (anyway it's not my area).

..but for Home - I'm about to build a new computer and this seems the cheapest way to get it loaded with windows 7, and office… and a few other things like sharepoint which I'd be interested in learning more of.

I wouldn't want to 'hit the pirate bay' as apart from the legal /moral issues the software their might already contain root kits and so on. And I'm assuming this install software from the Tech pack will get security updates as normal and pass genuine Windows checks etc?

So this wouldn't be 'production use' would it? what if I don't renew my subscription and need to format / re-install in say 18months? will it reject my keys? or will they be OK on the same hardware config?

    • purchasing via Amazon US will be against the licence conditions

The Technet Standard subscription is available for export sales from Amazon. Microsoft have evidently determined that they are happy for Amazon to export this particular pack because they have prevented Amazon from exporting, for example, the Professional subscription.

So I am certainly allowed to buy it; @twitch1979 - which of the US Technet Standard subscription licence conditions disallow me using it in Australia?

      • Hi Shump

The conditions are do do with the program that you would purchase the licence under rather than the licence.

This would full under a open licence which must be purchased in the country of use.

There is nothing to stop you using it anywhere else. On a home user basis there is zero chance you will be audited but my point is, if you are not going adhere to the licence condition then you might as well download it from your favorite torrent site.

        • I don't really see buying the subscription from Amazon being an issue. People buy it from Amazon because it is cheaper. If Microsoft released a 50% off code for AU subscription (or whatever % that makes it cheaper than the Amazon price), then I am pretty sure people would buy the AU license. Microsoft still gets the money even if you buy it from Amazon.

Microsoft need to be more reasonable in the pricing. When they renamed TechNet Plus to TechNet Pro, they already bumped up the price a fair bit. What makes AU customers so special that we need to pay 40+% more? It is not like we get AU TechNet sites which speed up our TechNet downloads.

    • Last time I talked to Microsoft, the impression I've got is that they are aware of the fact that US TechNet pricing is more competitive / reasonable. They informed me they are considering doing something about it - but looks like they still haven't.

I did get my renewal from Microsoft AU at the end (easier for tax purposes). The 30% discount is basically to offset the price difference and they expect people will not bother with the trouble and just buy the AU license - that would be my guess. Well, it worked… in my case.

    • I dont see how Region free codes can be against the licensing. When you renew the code you have to select your CoO which then puts the TOS for your region into effect.

  • Question regarding the renewals.. If you renew for a single year, does that add a year to your current expiry date or does your new expiry date a year from the day you renew?

My understanding is that if you upgrade your new expiry date is a year from the day you upgrade. Just wanted to know if the same applies to renewals. Thanks.

    • It's a year to your current expiry date. However, Microsoft generally give you a few more weeeks (up to 4) to compensate for the fact that it could take a while to activate / renew your subscription on their system. So, it could be 13 months, rather than 12 months.

      • Thanks! Good opportunity to renew and extend my expiry by another year.

At this rate, I'll never pay full retail for my technet subscriptions.

  • It says promo code no longer valid. Can someone please verify?
