I understand that sometimes disposable is the way to go, e.g. parties and functions, however selling point of using laziness to "just use and chuck it" ignores the cost that the environment pays for our indifference to using disposable plastic ware.

Sorry but it's a big fat downvote for an unsustainable marketing approach.

I echo your sentiments. I hope that these products are next on the list of items to ban (even if it is for parties and functions), we are not American and do not need to emulate the culture of use once and throw it into landfill.

    • composable is ideal

      • compostable would be better

    • Agree.

Promoting behaviour to create heavy duty landfill. Not good. 👎

  • So one of these plates costs a bit more than the cost of a tablet for my dishwasher? My plates are going in the dishwasher, seems cheaper and less effort than haulking plates down the drive to be carted off to a bin, but that is just me of course.

I don't see how the "lazy" consumer this is targetted for is really going to save any time/money?

I hope more and more people feel uneasy while buying this one-use, often 5-minute-use. plastic.

Do you eat with your hands and cook directly on coals? You are still going to have washing up to do.

10 pack of biopak dinner plates is $2.50 from Woolworths, which is 50 for $12.50 without delivery.

BioCane dinner plates are made from reclaimed and rapidly renewable sugarcane pulp. They can handle handle a wide variety of hot and cold foods and are water and grease resistant. Certified carbon neutral and home compostable to AS5810.

    • Those are regular size, our plates are extra large and heavy duty. By the way, woolworths also sell these plates, only difference is that their plates are smaller packs for the same price, ours is 50pcs.

Plastic plates may have some valid purposes, but your description made it suggest like a great alternative to washable plates.

Yeah I'm not keen on disposable plates thanks.
    Unless they are biodegradable.

If you guys do a little research, you will find that all the major supermarkets still sell these plastic plates, we pride ourselves in better value and price. When the time comes and sugarcane plates are widely accepted, then we will sure adopt them. We have tested them and because they are more expensive, we couldn't achieve the sales we anticipated, so it is pretty early stages, thank you.

    • L O L. What an antagonistic comment to your potential customers. We're not saying that you should abolish plastic plates, although that would be ideal. We're saying that the marketing ploy of "i'm too lazy to do the dishes, so go plastic" is an absolutely horrible attitude towards the planet.

Maybe if you had said something like, "Having a party coming up and need some plastic plates?", then people may not have been so ready to make a comment about the sustainability of the approach.

But nevermind me, I'll go be busy and straighten my imaginary marketing degree on my wall.

  • Thank you for your comments, well noted. We will try to have clearer description in the future and also try to advertise more sustainable products.
