OPEN824RLW VoIP Modem/Router3-Port VOIP ADSL2/2+IAD - $74.90

90

This is my first post and reckon this is a real bargain.

Basically this open networks modem is the same as the Billion 7402VGP but at half the price.

The OPEN824RLW router is an "all-in-one" wireless VoIP ADSL router, combining an ADSL modem, ADSL router, 3-Port Ethernet network switch and 2 ports for Voice-over-IP functionalities providing everything you need to get the machines on your network connected to the Internet over your ADSL broadband connection.

Shipping is also only $9.90 (Aust wide)

  • I just came here and was about to post this offer. I guess you beat me to it Parkerboi76. :)

For those who are interested, this is the same OPEN 824RLW 3/port that had the $30 offer from broadband gear previously from here and here. This however, works out to be cheaper. I bought this unit for a family member previously on zazz when they were about $10 more, and I can say it's still going on strong without any issues (adsl, wireless, and voip)

More details of this modem can be found here.

    A great bargain!

  • The 4 Port version of these is the one to go for for. It is a copy of a Billion 7404.

    • When you say copy you mean chinese clone, not a rebadge, correct?

Edit: seen this forum thread which suggests its a rebadge:
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=599519

      • I believe it's a rebadge/slightly customised firmware.

        • I used to own one of these and it's just a rebadge. Had a compare of the Billion model to mine and all that's different is the colour scheme on the admin page, and the logo - everything else is the same.

          • @randoom: As the "proud" owner of a 7404 Billion modem (and someone who has been subjected to their warranty service) I am gobsmacked that there are cheaper rebadged versions of the 7404.

  • Just bought a laptop and AAPT want me to pay $129 for a wifi modem. Would this one from ZAZZ be suitable if I bought it instead of the AAPT one? The person at AAPT said I need one that is compatable with ADSL1. And yes I know next to nothing about computers so any help would be great!

    • I don't think there should be any problem. Supporting ADSL1 is the minimum requirement for being an "ADSL modem".

I've got one 7401VGP for over 2 years now (paying more than 2x the price!) and it has been working flawlessly for me.

      • Ditto Scotty, bought my 7401VGP for $175 plus postage 2 years ago.

Billion's 2 year warranty did save me though - 2 days before my warranty expired the VoIP failed and would not work. Sent it back and got a new unit shortly after.

At this price it's impossible to pass up. $74.90 is amazingly cheap, if I needed one I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Next wireless modem router will be one with N wireless, Gigabit Ethernet and ADSL2+ of course :)

        • Definitely agreeing on the 802.11n + 1000BaseT. Looking at building my next file server and you really need a good router to get the performance.

  • dose it support TPG IPTV?

    • It should have no trouble at all viewing IPTV on a PC.

  • Don't get this - get the 4-port version from cormain instead. The 7404 is much better than the 7402.

  • I bought this a few months ago and I was very impressed at not only the features but its uptime. Many features are packed into this little box, including non-advertised ones (vlans/wireless bridging/decent layer3 filtering). Happy to answer any questions regarding compatibility/SIP features/etc

    • hey Zubby,

do you know if this works with iiNet ASDL2+?

      thanks

      • do you know if this works with iiNet ASDL2+?

Yes it should work with iinet without any issues. It is an ADSL2+ modem. However, they have now sold out anyway.

      • Sure does. Dead simple setting up VoIP too if you're going "naked"

  • Bargain! Awesome work mate!!!! I got one!!!!

BTW isn't 7402 only different to 7404 only with one less port? If you don't need four ports, this is a dead set bargain!!!
