  • Great pumps

Watch out for their aftersales service. Google their reviews first before buying to make your own decision.

    • My wife has used their after-care many times in the past 6 years. She's never had any issues.

    • +1

Thats cos places like productreview are a cesspool of disgruntled customers. I can personally vouch for this one. My wife used it heaps and its still going strong. More than my friends can say for their Medela pumps.

Get the battery operated one for flexibility to move around too! Great product.

  • Anyone have the spectra 9 plus (the small portable one)? Is it a lot less powerful and hence slower than the bigger units?

    • I have this one and I loved it

Edit: can't answer your question as I never had the bigger ones to compare to

  • Son of a… due next week so waiting 15 days not gonna work plus just got some stuff last week. πŸ˜”

Everyone has a different experience, but the advice that we have got from the midwives is to wait a few weeks to establish a feeding routine before pumping. A risk of pumping too early is that it can lead to overproduction of milk, which then needs to be removed in order to avoid mastitis.
So if you guys decide to wait then you should have plenty of time.

    • Just had our 2nd one 3 weeks ago and wife only had expressed once 2 days ago.

Wife had one of those Medela pimps for the first, it was terrible. She got the blue portable one for the next one, and it was like night and day comparison. Highly recommend it.

Hard to find a good pimp these days.

    • For $30 more, I'd prefer a local one. Ymmv!

    • These do not come with Australia warranty, they are a grey import and come with a larger nipple thing

      • Amazon support directly - last item I bought that I had a problem with (a blender) they just straight up offered a refund or to send a brand new one as a replacement, even after 11 months

come with a larger nipple thing

Pretty sure UK vs AUS nipples are the same but I guess I can’t say for sure.

        • Read the comments, it says 24mm, people got 27mm

          • @Turd: Ooh good point - can confirm ours came with 28mm cones

            • +1

@ajole: Actually have you looked at Haakaa pumps/bottles? These are pretty good to use as well.

  • Assuming the spectra-friend-10 code won't stack with this 20% off during Click Frenzy?

    • +1

welp, answered my own question when I put my order through and as I expected, it's a no. Strange, they started the sale earlier than they had mentioned.. I was able to cart and submit order around 11:30AM (melb time).. Thought it was starting 12PM. Oh wells. Ordered for my wife who's due in just under 2 months.

  • Another +1 for a Spectra pump, the S1 being portable is a massive quality of life improvement for us.

Recommend getting the neck adapters so Medela (and other thin neck) bottles can be used with it.

  • Worth noting it's an Australian site and the pump is likely here already (ours came from Adelaide) but you'll be invoiced by a company based in Singapore. For us that meant we couldn't claim it on our extras insurance, which was annoying. Great pump though and no other complaints.

    • Do you remember how long shipping took?

      • +1

Ordered mine Monday night, arrived Friday morning.

  • Anyone know much about the Dual S vs the S1+ ? Trying to decide which one to buy. Any advice will be appreciated!

    • I read a little about it, though it has dual motors, it does not support portability (mains power only) like s1+ which makes it similar to s2+. The new design looks stunning though.

      • Main advantage of the Dual S is that it has 2 motors which means you can set the pumping speed individually when dual pumping and no loss of suction when dual pumping.

Main drawback is that it doesn't have rechargeable battery unlike the S1 so it's not portable, not to mention it's at least 0.5kg heavier than the S1 due to the additional motor.

It's a shame Spectra AU have not decided to stock the Dual Compact for now. That would have been a pretty good alternative to buy instead of the S1 or the 9+. As it stands I ended up getting the 9+ for my wife.

Edit: Accidentally replied to the wrong comment and can't change it.

  • How often are the sales? I don't need to pump now but thinking of pumping when I go back to work in Dec… But that will be early Dec so a Christmas sale is a bit late..

    • I think thrice an year. Click Frenzy, Birthday sale around Sep and Christmas sale in Dec. There is also 10% voucher for other times or can get an uk pump off Amazon for ~$270.
