$70 for a Mi Band, it’s no from me.

    • +19

that's gonna be a no from me dawg. make it $50 delivered and than we'll talk..

      • +4

Haha same here. I'm still using mi band 2, 30+ days between each charge easily. Amazed with the build quality… Not sure why I would swap for one that lasts less than half of the time.

      • No Tone tracker.

    • +4

And people are willing to pay three times more if it was Apple.

      • +3

Because an Apple Watch has way more features?

        • +4

This, can't compare a smart watch with a fitness band. Different product and apple currently has the best smartwatch features. I'd buy an apple if I was in the apple ecosystem.

  • +6

Cheaper from Ali if you dont mind the wait, 20 days for me.

  • is this the global version? asking to be sure. tia

    • -3

it is from Au official site, so, definitely global/English version with local warranty

      • +16

this is NOT an official site of MI. the domain is registered under Daniel Wang PANMI PTY LTD

        lol

        • +7

Ingram Micro has become the exclusive distributor of Xiaomi in Australia, after reaching an agreement with local partner Panmi earlier this month.

The distributor also added AvePoint’s Dynamics 365 Backup solution to its portfolio.

As part of the deal with Panmi, Ingram will also sell the company’s other brands including Ninebot-Segway, Aqara and YeeLight.

“We’re passionate about innovation and Xiaomi’s core value is innovation for everyone, amazing products with honest pricing,” Panmi chief executive Daniel Wang said.

“This philosophy along with Ingram’s extraordinary facilitation capabilities will not only give Aussies a taste of what’s on offer, but form the foundation of a new vision for everyday life.”

In April, Panmi opened a Xiaomi showroom in Sydney where shoppers can see its handsets, consumer IoT devices, electric scooters, accessories and even luggage.

It also sells Xiaomi products through its own Australian web presence and deals with Amazon Australia, eBay and Catch.

@191919: I was curious about this - Source is this https://www.arnnet.com.au/article/662030/ingram-micro-named-…

I don't think you can call it an official site for Xiaomi, as Xiaomi Australia as a business entity doesn't really exist. However, Ingram Micro is an exclusive official distributor and Panmi is one of many official resalers along with other retailers.

Through the Ingram Micro deal, Xiaomi's products are now likely to appear in stores such as Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi, while talks with telcos such as Optus are still underway, ARN understands.

            • +2

@CheapCoffee: You'll probably find the buy price for a Miband 6 etc will cost way more than any of the local deals here on Ozb if it all goes via Ingram Micro. I will be surprised if these and the likes of Yeelight etc end up at Ingram.

    • +5

I think CN version also comes in English language

  • +3

Just get the mi band 5, almost half the price.

    • No oxygen sensor..

      • +4

        You don’t need that anyway

        • +5

You do if you get corona…

          • +3

@RSmith: The. You should know it before the band do : )

        • -1

Well technically you don't need a watch either, so moot point.

      • +2

Also smaller screen, which is already somewhat small

      • +3

        Usually inaccurate…

    • +4

Bigger screen on the new boy

  • +1

I have one and I love it.

  • +1

Can anyone figure out if this one has NFC or not? 🙈😭

    • +3

      NFC is only for Alipay

      • +1

        Thank you sir.

Got the Gearbite $60 delivered deal the other day, arrived in 2 days, and certainly like it over the Mi Band 4. Notify for Mi Band app has a few bugs with the 6 at the moment, but its workable and will no doubt get fixed.

Screen so much bigger, very easy to read messages.

Paying an extra $20 delivered doesn't seem like much of a deal though. If you have eBay+ its $62.07 delivered from Gearbite now with the PKR1210 code, as I said took 2 days to arrive for me.

    • +2

Does it support whatsapp emojis ?
This alone will be the tipping point for upgrading over my band 4.

    • Thanks mate, grabbing one now :)

    • Thanks mate, got one with eBay Plus.

    • Thanks mate.Do you know of its global version and comes with warranty?

      • It's sold out of Melbourne so should have local warranty.

No idea what version, box is in multiple European and other languages, no Chinese and no mention of NFC etc. so I'd assume global. SKU is BHR4951GL.

        • Thanks for details. Confirmed with gb support on eBay, it is global version.

    • Thanks a lot for that link. I signed up for eBay plus and received $50 voucher for use within next few days. Couldn't club your PKR code you have mentioned but that's fine as voucher from eBay plus was worth $50. So essentially got this band plus 1 yr eBay plus subscription for $70 ish with express delivery. Note: Just ensure to check your account details and see if $50 voucher offer is available or not.

      • It's only like $2 more without eBay+ with the same code.

        • Yes that's if you were existing eBay+ user. If you sign up for eBay+ now, you pay $49 for 1 year membership but we get free voucher worth $50 for purchases within next few days. So I paid ~ $69 in total and I got 1 year eBay+ subscription, this band and express delivery.

60 AUD with free delivery in Aliexpress. I just got mine delivered today.

    • When did you order it?

      • +1

14th April and got it today.

  • Does it have "body battery" feature like garmin?

    • +1

I don't know what that is, but they have this:

PAI or Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) is a personal physiological activity monitor. The PAI index is based on your heart rate data, daily activity intensity, and multi-dimensional dynamic comprehensive evaluation of personal physiological data. This information is converted into a PAI score using an algorithm to recommend the level of activity required in order to maintain good health.

      • Thanks! That sounds similar.

  • +1

HR on main screen is a nice upgrade.

    • +1

mi band 5 has the HR on the main screen too?

      • +1

custom screens = anything can be shown on the main screen

      • Ok nice. I have the 4 and it's a bit of a PITA to cycle through to it constantly.

  • +5

I have a Huawei honor band 5 and a Xiaomi mi band 5, and would choose Huawei over Xiaomi any day. Reason bought honor 5 was SpO2 and have tried honor band with many exercise apps for read write data on iPhone and it works a lot better than Xiaomi. Huawei TruSleep is the best sleep analysis I have seen , compared to Apple watch 6, Withings Scanwatch (worst sleep analysis), Fitbit (my fitbit was very old , a surge) and Xiaomi.
Would definitely recommend Huawei, only advantage of Xiaomi is slightly more accurate step count and slightly better battery.
Waiting for Huawei GT2 Pro ECG due to good experience with Honor 5.

  • +1

Bought one from Aliexpress for just over $50 with discounts.

Got the Chinese version, it has English.

    Very happy with it.

    • How?? Being trying to buy one for $50 shipped for a long time

  • +3

Because nobody needs GPS in a smart fitness watch.
Basically $80 to tell you how many steps you've taken.

    • …and for Notifications, Alarms, Sleep tracker which works well on mine but more for time to bed and got up times. Personally I pay no attention to deep sleep rubbish on watches. I like the Mibands but I am not in it for the sports.

  • Can turn Bluetooth/WiFi off? Work has areas where it is not allowed..

  • How secure is your personal data including health and fitness using these devices, especially Huwaei. Heard they have Chinese government official on the board of directors.

    • +1

      Security……whats that.

    • +12

Doubt the CCP would care if you're getting a lil fat.

  • Is the date format in usa style only or can be switched to Aus

    • +1

      Adjust to AU is fine.

  • +1

Owned mi bands 2, 4 & 5 (still currently use) and had no idea this was even coming out let alone released

  • +2

Looks like now you can control the music while working out. That is a great input.

    • Mi Band 5 was a little too many steps from sleep/homescreen to get to media toggles, was easier using my phone lockscreen.

  • +2

I was looking at one on eBay from Gearbite earlier today for ~$63 including postage (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-Mi-Band-6-Sports-Fitness-… with PKR1210 code). Didn't seem worth posting compared to other deals I could find, but seems decent compared to this one, unless I'm missing something, which is quite possible.

  • +3

Poor band design if its the same as the band 5. If you will wear and you have a semi active - active job I would consider reinforcing the band attachment.

    The thing drops off easy

I imagine a kid woulld lose it in a day

  • +2

Yikes, $80 delivered for a miband?

  • If anyone (like me) got the earlier versions (V1, V2) and have a negative perception of these bands, i suggest you reconsider.

I had serious sync and app issuses with the older ones, but i recently purchased a Mi Band 5 and these issues are non existant. Well worth the ~40$ i paid for it on amazon.

  • +1

Band 4 was fine for me, and I'm using an iPhone with the Mi App.
But the screen upgrade is worth it for me - placed an order for the Band 6 now :)

  • Should I use the fact that my band broke on my 5 to get this…

    • Just grab a strap, it's a lot cheaper and compatible should you choose to upgrade later when prices drop. Approx $8 on local Ebay or a lot less fron China.

      • Check the measurements if you do… last one I bought said 'long' but was in fact 3cm shorter than the standard… my fault for not reading all the specs, needless to say it was a bit useless.

  • I'll wait for price to drop

  • I had continuous connection problems w/ my last Mi band, along with terrible heart rate monitoring. Though people have said it's improved in this model so YMMV, just be aware…

Reasonably happy with my fitbit, but the integration with phone isn't great. I'll probably get a galaxy watch next time. If I was in the Apple ecosystem I'd have no issue going for an Apple Watch, it's one of the few apple products I actually view as being market leading…

    Shout out to Pobman !

Just got one from the Gearbite eBay store for a total of $13.48!

I used the PKR1210 code and a $50 eBay emailed gift card code "Thanks to your eBay Plus membership."

Funny thing is, my eBay Plus sub ran out in August last year, which cost virtually nothing anyway thanks to an OzBargain deal!

    • So it cost you $63.48 i.e. you had to pay $50 for Ebay Plus sign up?

      • Nope I didn’t actually sign up again. Haven’t been a member since it expired last year & I didn't renew.

Every now and then they send me a promo for eBay plus which always says I’m ineligible when trying to use it. Thought I’d just try this $50 voucher email which have been sitting in my inbox for a month and it worked.

        • Ah, very nice. It still cost $63.48 though but always good to find something useful to use your voucher on. :-)

  • Yer I guess I could’ve spent the free voucher on something else. 99% of the time I buy from Amazon Prime though :)
