LOVEMOM

Great supplier for bubble tea supplies such as popping pearls, black pearls, jellies, tea, flavouring, etc. etc. A lot of items unsurprisingly already sold out so get in quick. I've been a repeat customer and I've had a great experience with the team and the customer service there. If I hadn't just bought a bunch of stuff last month, I would have gotten on this deal myself.

Some highlights:

1kg Milk Tea Powder, usually $23, $18.40 with code

3kg Black Pearls, usually $18, $14.40 with code

2 packs of 300g Mango mini mochi, usually $10.40, $8.32 with code

Why is it ‘unsurprisingly’ sold out? The only people that would even consider this would be milk tea shop owners I’m assuming?

Not a bubble tea shop owner and I got the email! I ordered a heap of tapioca for a low price during lockdown last year.

    • Nope! Lots of DIYers/people that make it at home. In my circle, I know a fair few people who make their own bubble tea at home since the costs do add up if you have it a few times a week. It's also rare to have a discount larger than 10% IME.

Bubble Tea Club is quite a successful startup thanks to COVID ;)

I did with my kids during the holidays. I made it with green tea, lychee juice, small amounts of sugar syrup, tapioca pearl & lychee agar jelly.

The syrups they use commercially are nasty.

        • here comes the (profanity) negging a personal experience lmao

Any recipe/formula to mix bubble tea at home?

    • Recipes and quantities are provided in the descriptions, but it depends on what drink you're making! Feel free to ask me for specifics if you have any. I usually just brew my own preferred tea and then add some creamer as I don't like having a sugar-heavy tea as my pearls are soaked in a brown sugar and honey mixture after they're done cooking.

Usually use Utea who are the biggest supplier and also cheaper than everyone else but thought I'd check this one out. They have brown sugar pearls in stock so I thought I'd grab some, however the code didn't work in checkout.

Then I saw on the site that the code is LOVEMOM not LOVEMUM as you have put in the title. Might want to change that.

    • I've purchased from Utea before and agree that usually they're cheaper plus I've had a good experience with them offering a small discount for an order over $100 once I missed a promo. I do apologise for the wrong code! The email that was sent to me had "LOVEMUM" and I didn't check to see if it worked with the site. I shall update it, thanks for letting me know.

      • No worries.

To make the brown sugar milk tea, what else do you need?

It looks like just syrup and fresh milk but sunwide's instructions are a little confusing

I use Aik Cheong Teh Tarik 3 in 1 when I have a bbt craving as it tastes pretty similar to bbt milk tea. $6 for a packet of 15, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative. Easily found in Asian shops.

Can you buy the pearls and the milk tea thing at Asian supermarkets? Just want to try out.
Most of the ones in the link are sold out anyways.

Also possible to do sugar free healthy version ? (I understand it defeats the purpose :))

I'm pretty sure they sell pearls but i don't think I've seen milk tea powder before.
You could probably make your own milk tea at home

    • Yes and yes.

My local Asian groceries only stock the black sugar version of pearls, though, so I still buy normal pearls from website like this.

You can definitely make sugar free milk tea. Pearls are supposed to be soaked in sugar/honey, so they can add sweetness to the tea. I’m the type to order no sugar/30% sugar milk tea when buying from shop.

    • Yes definitely! You can buy the black pearls at an Asian supermarket but it's usually quite pricey, e.g. $5-$8 for 300g or something. The tea you can just make at home with some tea bags or loose tea and add milk. If you have creamer, you can use that as well! Someone also suggested the Aik Cheong Teh Tarik 3 in 1 if you can find it in the Asian supermarkets.

You can make bubble tea without sugar but I don't find it too flavorful or enjoyable. Instead, I like to soak my pearls in a brown sugar syrup mixture I make before adding it to my tea and it adds the perfect amount of sweetness for it. If you have any more questions, just shoot!

  • Does anyone know how much of the 3 in 1 milk tea powder you're supposed to mix in per 250ml of water. The instructions on the website are confusing. It says to "Melt the 30g milk tea powder, 20g creamer, 10ml fructose together with 250ml hot water." Does that mean to only mix 30g in with the water or 60g of the powder? Any help is appreciated

    • The milk tea powder, creamer, and fructose are different ingredients. TBH you can get away with just using 30g of milk tea powder with 250ml hot water and adjust amount to your taste. Creamer is supposedly used to enhance the tea taste and make it the drink more silkier but you can definitely get away with not using it. Fructose is just a sugar syrup essentially so just add your own sweetener to taste.

      • Cheers. I asked sunwide themselves and they said the same thing. Thanks for the help

        • Not going to lie, but I did have to check out their product listing for creamer because I couldn't remember the purpose when used in conjunction with the milk tea powder. Glad to see we gave similar advice! Enjoy the milk tea 😊
