Credit to Press Start -

After dropping a small amount of stock online and in-store today, EB Games is set to reopen PS5 pre-orders in store tomorrow for both the PS5 Disc Edition and PS5 Digital Edition. If you pre-order a console in store, you’re guaranteed to get it before the end of July (likely before hand if you get a pre-order in early). As with the September round of pre-orders, you will have to drop down a $200 deposit. If you’ve been missing out on stock drops, and aren’t in a mega rush, this will be the best way to ensure that your name is down to get a PS5.

Just like there was at launch, trade deals will also continue for PS4 consoles. If you’re buying a PS5 disc edition, you can get it for $499 by trading in a PS4 Pro + 1 game ($449 if you’re a level 4 member). If you’re buying a PS5 digital edition, you can get it for $399 by trading in a 500GB PS4 slim + 1 game ($359 if you’re a level 4 member).

If your PS4 it's collecting dust, most likely your ps5 will too

  • no pre order ps5 console I can see rite now

  • +1

I just picked up my preorder from EB which I made in September last year. So be prepared to wait!

  • Those thinking of trading in your PS4 take note that you CAN transfer your PS4 data to your PS5 over Wifi/LAN. Took me 30 minutes over a gigabit in the background while playing Astro's Playroom to pass the time waiting. Since I didn't grab any games it was the quickest way to get started with a bit of MH:W, Horizon, and RDR.

Can't do this if your PS4 is traded in… though I think if you have PS+ your save files are on the cloud so this might not be necessary in that case.

You can backup all your save games onto a USB flash disk (use a decent one, preferably USB 3). That's what I did (I didn't have active PS+) before I traded in my PS4 to EB last year. If unsure, google and watch youTube. After you finished backing up, make sure you test it out (on your PS4). Ensure you have a good / proper backup of your save games before factory reset your PS4.

If you have PS+, you can use the Cloud Save feature. However, even if you do, it doesn't hurt to have another backup on USB.

As for downloaded games, you would put them on your external USB HDD before trading it in.

Oh nice! Did not know this. I only found out I could even transfer my stuff when I booted the ps5 as it’s part of the initial onboarding.

  • +2

Oh nice more retailers means those scalping idiots are going to suffer more now 👍

this is a waste of time I am going to wait a year because they don't have many PS5 games to begin with and PS5 developers are pretty much holding off this year on new games anyway so if you have a ps4 pro just stick with it till all the "beta" testers get there PS5s, then we can all go in and play a fixed PS5 that doesnt' have issues.

    • .I bought one in February, after 6 million had been produced, so now sold through 7.8 Million units, so your beta testinng theory is well and truly over. Loving the new PS5 games just released and incredible how most PS4 games look on the PS5. Revisiting all my AAA PS4 titles, and outstanding. I highly suggest getting a PS5 if you can.

almost no different in quality modes at 1080p 60fps. Unless you play all your games at 4k 60fps you will see very little difference.

  • How is this a pre order? The things been out for 6mths already. Lol

    • +1

      Demand>supply

    • +3

The world isnt normal right now if you didnt notice “lol”

    • +1

      Demand and shortages…

  • +1

Its past 0900 now and I can't see anything on the site about pre-orders. Anyone else?

    • +1

      is it in store only?

      • +1

That might explain it… back to work I go.. :(

      • Yes in store only I was told when I went in & pre-ordered mine about 15 minutes ago ;-)

      • Yes. it is in store. My wife placed the order and got told that a call is expected today or tomorrow latest the end of week. This is in WA

  • +1

I just went down to my local EBG in Gosford imperial centre and locked in my preorder for $200. Confirmed order will be ready by end of July latest.

Most overrated console of all time?
How many AAA titles have come out from launch until now justifying the price for this souped up paper weight?

    • +2

So why are you upset you can't get one?

      • -1

No desire or need to upgrade from the PS4 at the moment. Not upset, if anything I'm happy to watch the sheep get fleeced from scalpers.

        • +1

don't worry, Mum might buy you one in a few years time.

As someone that skipped Sony for the PS4 gen, I have gotten a heap of use out of mine in the months since launch, playing through all the PS4 exclusives through PS Plus as well as a couple of PS5 games as well.

    • -1

you obviously have no idea that this happens for EVERY new generational console.. AAA games take a few years to produce and new consoles take a couple of years at the least before 'best' optimisations can be found for them.. so generally the first couple of years of a new console's life is cross generational ports of games before you start to see the majority of games produced exclusively for the newer console.

Which is why I enjoy PC gaming much more than console gaming… but I do have consoles for the console exclusives.

      • +1

        downvoted for truth it seems

    • As others have said, games take time to come out but I also agree with you in that it didn't really make sense for me to get one yet seeing there are very limited game options for it that actually utilize it to its full capabilities.

  • +1

Just did it at Adelaide Rundle mall store, only 4 of us were waiting on opening

    • +4

      ..ah it was you

      • Haha yep, was second in line

        • Third

  • Thanks.
Finally able to use my credits from previous extra %50 trade deal for something worthy.

I just pre-ordered from EB Westfield Sydney.
Estimated to arrive by end of June.

There are 4 people before me that seems to do the same with no issues, so get in quick before all gone.

    • Think I went in around a little earlier. I asked the girl at the counter how long pre orders were estimated to be open, she said 1-2 days usually until their designated PO stock is gone.

  • Ordered one from Parramatta Westfields. They normally open at 930am but they opened early today. Attendant advised to save store number as when stock arrives they will call me to confirm pick up once stock arrives in July, otherwise they will hold my spot for 24 hours if I'm not contactable and bump me down the queue.

    • Got there before 9:30 and they were already open with 3 people ahead of me 😅. Hopefully comes in before July, can't wait 😊

  • Wife & I just went & ordered one each in Sunbury, Victoria & before anyone has a crack at me for getting two PS5's…We have 8 kids…LOL

      Next shop: snip.

  • So sad to see that 2 years ago, we were all promised the PS5 release date to be mid 2020, people went in and took preorders in March, only for this sh1t to be extended till May 2021 with limited pre orders ..

    • +2

Yeah, why didn't Sony plan for a once in a lifetime pandemic that would completely change the world and create a logistical nightmare and limit the supply of much needed parts across every industry!?

      /s

      • -1

If it was the pandemic driving shortages, it would be backorder for PS5 not pre-order.
I think Sony is riding this wave to ensure all it's consoles are sold at the highest markup price creating more demand.

The pandemic affected everything, not just the Ps5, and the rest of the industry was not choked in this manner

        • Have you not noticed the many many games being delayed?

The PS5 isn't 'marked up' $750 for that system is incredible value for what you get.

          Pre-order is EB games wording.

        • yeah no game delays at all, you live under a rock?

  • +1

Thanks, just ordered disc version. Fyi EB epping (melbourne) had discless version in stock, did not ask how many they have.

  • +2

    Pre-ordered by calling the store.

They need a $200 deposit which they can't take over the phone with card. However, if you buy a $200 gift card you can give them the number over the phone and secure the pre-order.

Got a $200 card from Prezzee and all set.

Employee at the store said they will "definitely be gone by the end of the day"

    • Cheers for the tip, didn't realise we could do it on the phone with gift cards. I just pre-ordered one by using some Prezzee gift cards I had lying around!

  • +1

Well, I went to pre-order one for my son (I already have one), and they actually had a few in stock so I picked one up today. Pretty sweet!

    • which store did you go to?

  • +1

I was lucky enough to find and pick up in store PS5 disc edition stock this morning from my local eb, was calling them to confirm they were taking pre orders, others may be lucky too, worth giving your local a call to check.

  • Similar to some posters above, I went to pre-order at Castle Plaza (Adelaide) and they had a disc version in stock! Didn't ask if they had any others but worth a shot

  • Brought my PS4 Pro to Bondi Junction and got to trade-in for a PS5 pre-order, thanks OP :)

Total deposit for me was $288.59 (traded NBA2K19 on level 3). Now let's hope it doesn't take too long for it to arrive…

  • Was in the Swanston St (Melbourne CBD) store and the staff said they still had some allocation available on pre-order. Apparantly stock is due in July.

  • Hopefully sony will release ps5 pro pretty soon

  • Posters on Whirlpool saying they're getting calls from EB about stock that've arrived recently. Promising signs for the rest of us!
