idk why people bother posting this on every PS5 thread. PS5's get way more + votes than 90% of the stuff on this site. Besides, beats scalper prices.

      • +6

They love negs or they are clueless of the marketplace .

      • -1

Well the site is supposed to be about bargains. I see so many posts get negged because the discount is low. Sometimes I do think there should be a spin off site called ozAdvertising.

        • +10

"Bargain" is subjective and isn't just about bottom dollar cheap. There's tons of different added-value factors encompassing a bargain for different people.

        • +3

Another one who doesn't know the market place and a avatar that is the opposite of them :)

        • -1

          ozjunkmail dot com

      • -8

Well…to be fair, it's the first time I've posted that. Seen heaps of threads whenever stock comes up, but it's always the same price, so begs the question, where's the bargain?

    • +4

It is though, as someone already stated "Bargain is subjective" . It can relate to time (which in term equals money) or money directly.

In addition it can be argued that Bargain can be comparative to Market price not retail price. In this instance PS5 on market can be seen fetching $1k+, therefore the RRP is actually currently fetching a bargain against marketprice.

    • 😂😂👍

    • +1

It’s a bargain compared to resale prices. Which is literally the only other way to buy these.

    • It's not a ps5 thread without someone asking this question, lol.
We have a global silicon shortage issue, getting stock at rrp is a bargain till said issue is resolved.

  • +5

Where is the disk Version link?

  • +22

Whatever you do, don't buy the digital only version. Looking at games in the store that the cheapest I can find them is $140.. double buying a physical copy.

    • +2

This is mostly correct advice, especially in the AU market. SIE PS5 exclusives are $125 on the digital store and so far rarely reduced while sub-$100 on Amazon generally and further discounts over time. Save yourself a bundle by getting disc version, best of both worlds.

      • Mine was a gift (and a great one, don't get me wrong), but I used to get every new release for $79 at Big W … those days are long gone now :( In a few years none of us will have a choice anyway, but I'm gonna get stung for the next year or two if I want to buy any AAA new games. Then again, tbh internet piracy probably balances it out in the long run anyway.

        • in a few years it'll mostly be subscription based… granted some brand new titles i have to pay for but so far xbox ultimate has meant i barely even consider buying games and i'm the patient type so i tend not to need to play it instantly (except for Diablo i'll get that instantly LOL)…. soon enough Sony will do the same with the playstation plus .. probably call it playstation plus plus haha

        • +1

Try and grab a disc edition when you see them in stock, you can prob resell your digital edition for scalper pricing on eBay/facebook pretty quickly while stock is still scarce.

      • +1

        Seriously? Demon's Souls is $125?

A remake from 2009 is $125? Highway robbery if you ask me.

        • +5

It's a completely new remade game that utilises the PS5's hardware capability and DualSense features impressively, so no relevance to your comment about older game, but yes, it's pretty pricey. $98 on Amazon.

        • -1

sony has their fan boys so bad they will even defend their stupid expansive game prices

    • +5

I think it really comes down to how you’ll use it / what type of gamer you are.

I’ve had my digital version since release day - I’m a professional in my late 30’s so to even call me a casual gamer would be generous. With the titles that are included with PS+ and some other sale items I’ve picked up on the store I’ve got a ton of quality content to work through in my limited free time.

Very happy with my purchase - I got it for close to $500 with some Amazon gift cards and cashback, for my use case I feel like it was an absolute bargain.

However if you’re a heavy gamer or a day 1 purchaser of titles, to your point - you’ll certainly save more by being able to pick up physical copies.

      • +1

Yeah I'm a Day 1 guy for big games, can't help myself! Also being able to buy a game for $79, play it for a few months, then sell it for $50 really made trying new games pretty cheap, even if you didn't like them long term. Ah well, I'm just gonna have to eat digital shit, I can buy a handful of tripe A games for the price it would be to buy a disc console even if I could get one.

        • You just need some friends also have PS5's and willing to….. (you know…. "share")…. Obviously, it is against the usage policies. However, I know people sharing iOS account (again, that's the wrong thing to do).

    • +1

Digital gamesharing makes it a bit easier to swallow with the ps5. My cousin (who lives in a different state) and I take turns of buying the games we want digitally and then we can both play the same game using gameshare.

      • If I was friends with a single other person that owned a PS5 that'd work lol

        • +2

26/f/perth, perhaps we can perhaps become perhaps more than perhaps friends?

      • May i ask how you share digital game? thanks

        • Login to your friends PS4/PS5 with your account and activate their console as your primary console

Your friend logs into your PS4/PS5 with their account and activates your console as their primary

You both leave each others account on the others console and any game you purchase they can login to your account to download & play, any game or DLC they purchase you can login to their account to download and play.

If you have another friend who doesn't care about your games and wants to share with you then you can also get them to activate your console as their primary and you get another source of free games.

Only one of you needs an active Playstation Plus subscription for both of you to play online and you can both download the PS+ monthly games from whichever account activated it so you can go halves in the PS+ pricing too.

The other thing you can do is create a new account to buy a game digitally and then activate your console as the primary and then you can give that account to multiple friends, they can only play it while logged in as that other account but can play with you (only one friend at a time though) so if you had a 2 player coop game you can buy one copy and rotate through each friend you want to play with at the time.

    • +5

Let's not forget being able to sell or trade in games once you're done or moved on with it especially AAA ones.

      • +1

Yeah I said this just above, $79 games, sell them for $50 in a few weeks or months.. I get why they're doing it, it's just shitty for the consumer.

      • +1

This so true, bought fenyx rising for 49$ n sold back to eb for 45 after finishing it

    • +3

Never played FFVII Remake and planned to play it on PS5 when Intergrade released.

Being able to borrow the PS4 Disc from my friend and getting to play the PS5 upgrade for free, instead of paying a minimum $99.95 on the PSN store makes the disc version already worth it for me.

    • Great advice save them all for me :)

    • +5

Unless you’re loaded and hate swapping out discs because you wicked lazy.

      • The latter and not the former.. lmao

      • +2

Just buy a long HDMI cable so you can have the console right next to you haha

    • Sony also closes their online stores for their older platforms, so you'll be stuck with a brick. (they currently still support the games you have purchased, but that could go offline at some point).

      • +1

Only one closed so far is the PSP but they are trying to shutdown the PS3 one

  • +1

PlayStation '5 Disc Version' - Good to see that disc changers are back!

    • +2

I reckon I’d buy a disc changer for consoles, now that I think about it.

  • +1

Noticed alot more availability of ps5 lately

    • +1

      What else have you noticed?

      • +16

I noticed that your comment is irrelevant like mine

    • +1

There was a shipment that came in just over a week ago (I think last Thursday they started hitting retail). It was hinted at from a few sources that this might be a bigger shipment than the last ones, so there might be a few more out there.

    • More promises of availability.

  • +17

Just a cheap ploy to get people to sign for club catch imo

  • +8

I'd be very cautious about purchasing one of these.

There's a pretty good chance this is a ploy to get people to sign up for their service, only to later be notified that they are out of stock after you have ordered.

    • +2

Why not just sign up to the free trial?

    • +1

Why not just cancel the free membership after making the order? You don't have to have an active membership once order is placed, rather just need it to place it.

      • -2

Taken from a Forbes article titled Free Trials: An Efficient, Profitable Way To Generate Sales on why free trials work:

We decided to stop telling prospects how great our service is and start showing them instead. We did this by offering limited-time, no-cost, no-obligation test-drives. This shift in strategy quickly paid off, with prospects seemingly overnight converting at a substantially higher rate.

Our free trial gives prospects full access to almost every feature and function we offer. Every free trial is customized to ensure that the prospect experiences our service in the way most precisely aligned to those needs.

Outside of these benefits, most people I imagine would sign up using a Google Account, giving Google data about your interests and, and a percentage of users will probably forget to unsubscribe from marketing.

  • +6

Catch have been in the market of bait advertising for their entire (profanity) history.
Is it fair to say that they have a supply of 2-3 units and thousands of people triggering hits on their website to maintain their web rankings?

    • I was thinking just that.

  • -4

    This product has SOLD OUT!

    • +2

What are you on about? It starts 4pm

      • +2

Don’t tell them. Less computation for others

        • +3

LOL… less computation.. that made me laugh! classic!

          • @scud70: Haha just read it myself. Joys of not using Grammarly keyboard

  • +1

PS5 digital is such a scam haha. The disk is better.

  • +1

Hope to get one today. Thanks OP.

  • I don't get all the hate on digital :\ You are either gonna have to spend a ton on a portable drive or the upcoming internal upgrade to hold more than a few games anyways.. Save some cash.

The games go on sale frequently enough over the store for it not to matter that much, And if it does.. Find a mate and go halves after linking your playstation accounts as family.

Not like the discs can just be used in to reinstall and play right away anyways in most cases, Most need updates and will have to download something anyways.

Also peace of mind that kids are not gonna stick stuff into it or scratch up discs goes a long way. That and not having to get up and physically swap media like we're in 2001 to play a different game.

    • Really? Sounds like you're willing to pay a lot for sheer convenience.

Having to stick to the prices that Sony wants, for life (of your disc readerless PS5), vs good old "(almost) do whatever you want": buy 2nd hand games, borrow games, sell your games.

Yeah, you still need to download a shitton of updates for each game that comes on a disc, but once another No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk happens, I'll go to EB Games or internets and get it for less than half the price that you'll keep seeing in PS Store… with no other choice.

  • So theyve basically crippled their website at 4pm

  • +2

i also think it's a ploy to get people to sign up for club catch; i get why they do it but these kinds of deals are dumb, especially if there's nothing else you want to buy from them

    • +2

They are straight putting up hard-to-get items for people with membership.

Everyone not only thinks, but just sees it's a ploy to get people to sign up.

      Hard to call it dumb.

    • +2

There definitely will be people that forget to cancel Club Catch out of all the people that sign up for free trials.

    • +1

How dare they reward their most valued customers?!

  • Does the free trial actually charge you the $6.50 upfront?

    • +2

it wouldn’t be a free trial if you were charged…..

    • +1

No, only charges you after your free month is expired given that you have not yet cancelled your club catch membership.

  • make sure you link your flybuys card to catch, so you can earn 2 points per dollers spent, if you buy the disc version you can get 1500 points

  • +2

Still trying to find the disc version - anyone have a link?

    • Don't worry the bot boys had it hence the 1 sec gone :)

  • -1

Unidays coupon…? Could be worth trying.

  • +1

Lol how you guys still fall for Catch BS is beyond me

    • -1

Not really BS as stock was indeed there, but there are syndicated scalpers who will be posting their success story soonish and brag about making an easy $300.

  • OOS in 2 seconds?!

  • +1

Managed to get one! 3:59 it opened

      • I got the confirmation email, fingers crossed they won't cancel it
