Anyone able to confirm for Melbourne stores?

    • +5

Springvale is $14.99 but will price match if you ask nicely

      • Can you upload the receipt mate? May help in getting a price match.

        • +3

You shouldn’t need one, the guy checked the adjusted price of the QLD store in their computer (not the website) and matched it, he then told the other guy in the lighting department to also match it for anyone else that asks for a price match against that store.

Also the brand new laddas are in stock as of this morning. It was actually a mate that prompted me to go to ikea today and not this thread as the new 2450mAh laddas are only $10 a pack, but i happened to see this thread whilst eating breakfast there and price matched the old known Laddas to save $1 a pack.

          • +4

@mapax: Not sure anyone noted this yet but seems like the new LADDAs are also made in Japan. Only a single AAA offering at 750mAh for $6 (4 pack). AAs come in two flavours: 1900mAh for $6.50 (4 pack) and 2450mAh for $10 (4 pack) as mapax mentioned.

Asked nicely but Richmond refused to price match!

        Saved me a trip..

Finally got to the checkout, the person at the register put it through discounted, no questions asked.

Can't be bothered winding back through the store to get more batteries.

          • @phrank: Richmond refused to price match.
Girl said "we don't price match!".
I don't understand why some checkout girls/boys should have an attitude about these things. Just ask your manager. It's not a demand. It's not personal. You don't own the store. It's just a job. Can you price match? No? Ok, no problem. Move along to life's more important things.

            • @ss3imkta: Just a guess, but maybe the manager had previously told their team "we don't price match", so she just did what she was told. 🤷🏼‍♂️

              • @eug: It was a lengthier discussion than what I paraphrased above, but the gist of it was the unnecessary attitude. It's just batteries man! Do it, or don't. Relax. "I'm sorry, management has said we don't price match" would have sufficed and we'd all be happier. Anger spreads twice as fast as kindness.

                • @ss3imkta: These are mostly kids soon after their high schools. Usually people take time to understand that they are not as important as they think (or told) to their workplaces. Also some never understand it with time.

  • Any idea how long discounted price for ?

Look, I just want some Batteries, I cant afford a child charger as well

    Batteries are spawning.

  • Should keep this picture just for curiosity of everyone 😀

  • Nationwide? Canberra shows the regular price.

      Still $14.99 / 4pk AA in Adelaide.
Staff said multiple people had showed photos of the discounted price interstate, but they won't price match.

thanks op. does anyone know when it ends? btw it Logan store at slacks creek not loganholme

    • Yes, has always been at Slacks Creek, which is in Logan.

      • +2

Both Slacks Creek and Loganholme are in the City of Logan. Slacks Creek is not Loganholme though.

        • I did not mean to imply that Loganholme was not in Logan.

          • @strangeloops66: Sorry if i misread it! Reading the two comments again, the flow is a little confusing.

            • @eug: No problem. I was almost going to add "too", having identified a possible ambiguity, but didn't. I misread coolsteps's comment. I thought he'd forgotten the question mark and had mistyped "is" as "it", whereas he was actually addressing OP and subtlety suggesting an edit to the title (which was subsequently made).

    • Sorry my bad yes logan store not loganholme so slacks creek

    • It’s all part of the shire of meth, no harm no foull.

      • Lol, "Shire of Meth". More meth heads at Loganholme than Slacks Creek, I suspect. Those Logan suburbs bordering Brisbane are less likely to be methanised.

      • Depends on which side of the M1 you look at.

  • nsw?

    Recommended charger?

    • Got meself a Tjugo 8x charger, pity its not on sale, $25. Replacing my Storhogen (12x charger).

      • Ikea claim that's a smart charger with -dV/dT detection, but also say it takes 10-12 hours to charge batteries. These two statements are in conflict, as the -dV/dT effect gets much smaller if charging takes more than four hours, and becomes almost impossible to detect.

Can you do the following test for me?

        • charge a battery (use an older one on its last legs, as this test may damage the battery)
        • take the battery out and let it cool down for ~30 minutes
        • put it back into the charger
        • see how long the charger takes to say "full" and stop charging. If it stops in 10 minutes or less, then it really is a smart charger. If it keeps charging after 10 min, it looks like it's a dumb charger.
        • take the battery out. If it's too hot to hold, it's probably damaged.
        • I dont have any old battery to test, sorry. :(

Maybe someone else can try this?

          • @Yummy: Fair enough. It's in your interest to find out though, if it's a dumb charger you'll be damaging your batteries every time you charge them.

    Can anyone confirm in WA?

  • That's what I paid on Thursday at Logan, didn't see any special sign, but scanned at 8.99

  • Any chance someone might have tried asking for a price match in Sydney? Timely as I have run out of AAA batteries for toys.

  • Anyone can recommend a good storage box for batteries, which includes space for storing Charger aswell ? Nitecore SC2.

We use an old plastic, sealable, lunch/sandwich box

A true Ozbargainer knows that Eneloop is our official currency here !

    😂😂😂

  • marsden park ikea have this deal too?

  • No luck at Richmond, Melbourne.

Edit: Finally got to the checkout, the person at the register put it through discounted, no questions asked.

Can't be bothered winding back through the store to get more batteries.

    • Did it scan at the discounted price? Or did you have to point out the price discrepancy?

      • It probably scanned at full price because they had to then do some button pressing behind the register while putting it through.

    • This here is why I prefer Eneloop.
A few clicks and I get to keep 2 hours of my weekend and avoid IKEA hell

Lada - these batteries must be for the electric Lada. Good to see Russia is taking action against climate change.

    • **Ladda

      Try again.

      • +2

Ladda - gonna buy these to give me the power to climb the corporate ladda… lol

Thanks OP, picked up 2 packs AA and AAA each. Heaps left at Ikea Logan.

  • Original Prices in WA…. DOH !!!

  • Could I pretty please get opinions on the best charger for these? I saw a few options at Ikea but wasn't sure if they were any good. They have a $4 USB based charger for 2. $12 for 4 and so on… Looked like recharge time for "5-8 Hours"

  • Thanks OP. Can confirm plenty still in stock at Logan at this reduced price.

    • +1

I went yesterday and yep, there's heaps in the lighting section. From the pics I took, I count 60 packs per shelf-box, and something in the order of 25 boxes. So there are at least 1500 packs available, split evenly between AA and AAA. Made in Japan as per the earlier comments here. If you want to only duck in and out, then entering via the registers entrance is still the way to go.

I only bought two packs of each due to the good lifespan of these types of batteries, so I don't really need that many. I also bought the $4 VINNINGE charger on a whim because I figured a second "trickle" charger would be good, especially one that has proper automatic off circuitry. There are a few YouTube teardowns that suggest it's a decent slow charger; with slow being better for battery longevity.

Opening one pack of each, I measured the voltage: 1.31V for the AAs, and 1.34V for the AAAs - ready to use, just as the packaging states.

Just went to Rhodes today, still plenty plenty left. AA $10.49, AAA $8.99, made in Japan.

Took me 20mins just to buy two packs of batteries though, was annoying trying to get out x___x

Got a side of meatballs to go with it at least!

  • Tried to price match at Ikea North Lakes, QLD and they said they won't do it.
They said each store has different stock levels and they may be overstocked and that's possibly why they're discounted there.

    • North Lakes now has AAA for $8.99, and AA for $9.99. This is the "Ikea family price".

      • Just got some. It's advertised family member price is now this!

  • IKEA in Canberra has currently discounted the AAA from $12.99 to $10, AA are still the same price at $14.99. When I showed them the photo from Logan with discounted price of $8.99 for both they initially wouldn’t price match. I then talked to one of the managers at the service desk and she offered me to give me a voucher for the price difference. So, I got both batteries for $8.99 in the end and the voucher didn’t bother me as we regularly buy at IKEA, hence no big deal but a good one for me ;-)

Can confirm the offer is still running at Logan. Plenty of stock by the registers this morning.

  • Also on sale at Ikea North Lakes:
