The Samsung S20 FE 5G comes with Snapdragon 865 Octa-core processor.

  • +3

Is there a difference between the 4G and 5G variants for the Galaxy s20 FE other than connectivity?

I feel like 4G is more than capable for the average person and you can get that directly from Samsung's website for $648, or PB at OW and get it for $615.6, or PM at JB using 10% off gift cards and get it for $583.2.

    • +4

5G has the Snapdragon 865 processor, which is generally regarded as superior in terms of performance & battery life to the Exynos used in the S20 FE 4G.

    • The chip. Snapdragon is usually more powerful than same gen exynos, and the 4g variants here uses exynos while 5g uses snapdragon.
I have heard there are snapdragon s20fe 4g out there but not sure.

      • +4

S20FE 4G 2021 model used the Snapdragon 865. There was a recent deal from Officeworks with the mint 4G SD version for 597

        • I asked the online chat agent today if mint colour 4g has snapdragon, she said no, only 5g got snapdragon. I am not sure how informed she was, those who bought from officeworks can confirm.

          • +2

@Mregmi: It's confirmed by multiple people in that thread.

          • +2

@Mregmi: I'm using one right now, picked it up yesterday from Officeworks. Mint 4G version has the Snapdragon 865.

          • @Mregmi: Perhaps what they said was "S20FE 5G only came in Snapdragon", not "only S20FE 5G came in Snapdragon" … The former is true and guarantees no processor lottery.

    Thanks OP.

  • Any differences between 5G and new 4G (with SD 865) variances other than cellular connectivity?

  • Can anyone comment on how good the DJI Tello is? And if this is a good price?

    • +1

I wonder if it’s good enough to deliver itself?

      • +4

Reading it's reviews, looks like it will deliver itself to a neighbour if there's a gust of wind outside

    • not the best price it has been

    • It's hard to fly it using your phone as the controller. You need a physical controller to give you more feel for where the joystick is.
The drone itself is alright but I wish they includes a physical controller.

    • Last month I bought a refurbished one (as brand new) for $85 on Kogan, it is $95 now.

    • Not great. I have one gathering dust.

  • Where do you see the $699 for the s20 Fe 5g? The deal link seems to show the phone going for $959.

  • Ah boo. I take it the S20FE isn't available.

Is 959 an ok price for the S21? After a new phone and I like the smaller form factors and powerful cameras of the base models to replace my pixel 2.

    • S21 uses an Exynos chip - I would avoid like the plague.

      • +1

Ack! I was under the impression the 5g variant had the Snapdragon for some reason. Boy these repeated model names and markets can get confusing. Perhaps I'm just better off getting a S20 somewhere or waiting to see what happens with the Pixel 6.

        Cheers.

the 2021 Exynos is heaps better than previous years, Samsung basically moved away from in-house Mongoose cores and now uses ARMs Cortex. Performance wise it's not the same as the SD888, but its close enough to the point there won't be much real world difference in processing unless you are really looking for it.

        You're being overdramatic.

        • Thanks but I disagree - you spend the same money for an inferior product and then tell me it's worth it?

    • +1

      It's live now (5pm).

    • Ah I misunderstood, it didn't appear on the page until 5pm. Deal is available now and I grabbed one. :).

I'm sure I wouldn't notice the CPU difference, but it sounds like by all measures it's not that different from the S21 so for the price differential I'm happy with the older model.

  • The S20 Fe 5g support microSD card for extra storage?

    • Yes it does. Possibly the last to have this feature.

  • Thanks grabbed Nest Hub

    • Tempted but this will be $79 in blackfriday sales

      • You're probably right, and I'll get another then.
Wanted it now so good timing for me

        • yes completely understand, tempted too because of the sleep tracking, I like that feature.

          • @MrBillions: Oh didn't even know that one, maybe I need another… 🤔

            • @cook99: gen2 has sleep tracking which is a great addition.
Currenlty it's a free service but there is talk about sleep tracking being a subscription based service.

  • Is 699 a good price for the s20fe5g? Samsung has it at 749 with their $50 off, better to get from them for a better warranty?

    • People say you can ask for a $150 loyalty voucher via live chat make it 599. Use 50 first and then the 150. Also the vouch is $200, but only works as$150 for S20 fe

      • Really? Might try that then as could upgrade both Samsung handsets if they can get that to stick on two phones!

      • you sure still going?

        • not sure, that's why i said "people say",someone said it ends 21/5, someone said they got it recently, no harm to try.

      • I tried this last night and was told that that promotion was no longer valid. But you could still trade in an elligable phone and get the 400 dollar discount.

        • +1

isn't the 400 trade in bonus is for s21?

      • The voucher only works for 5g model and listed price is $999, so with 2 discount codes the price comes down to $799. For 4g model the loyalty voucher not working maybe because its already discounted?

        • It's 799 at Samsung education instead of 999

          • @ce5himm: The loyalty voucher didn't work for me in education store.

            • @Mregmi: Maybe they fixed it. See the op of the post I mentioned above. He/she made it 599 with loyalty and newsletter codes

  • I didn't see 5G listed in the specification section of the eBay item description. Did I miss something?

    • +1

It's definitely listed in the title.

  • -2

Anyone still waiting for their $50 Samsung voucher?

    • what is it?

  • Grabbed the phone. Checked the email and the price was $833 which came as a shock. Dug into the Ebay order and it shows $699 and PayPal was the same.

  • This one seems to be Old Chipset :(

  • Is it worth buying a controller for the Tello?
