  • anyone tried price match in OW?

    • +1

I just did. They said no on the phone, might try a store later today.

  • iPhone 13 will be 4 months away now.
$200 off is the great deal though

    • +1

      u reckon 13 or they skip 13 and 14and got 15
      or start again
      "the iphone"

      • Im guessing:
        2021: X Branded upgrade
        2022: M1 New Iphone

      • You never know. They do like to surprise every now and then.

  • +1

Can someone confirm outright purchase is OK without a plan for new customer? There's one confirmation on the $150 deal, but they were existing Telstra customer.

Edit: I've tried going through to as far creating Telstra ID but the registration and subsequent login fails.

    • That’s dumb if you can do it in store but not online

    • +1

I bought mine and it got delivered within 2 days. Bought iphone 12 128gb. The phone already came unlocked. I put in my aldi sim and its working like a charm.

  • Cant decide wait for Sept or get this now (X just broke and rocking a 6).

    • +12

      So you’re Raiha6 now?

      • lol - good point

        • Maybe check the rumours on 9to5mac and decide for yourself if they’re worth the wait and higher price. I think the 12 mini could be up for a much needed battery bump and the $100 discount on the Pro isn’t enough but if you were already considering the 12 and find that phones are getting too expensive, this may be the deal for you? Also, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to get the new iPhone in September (it could be pushed out a bit) so how much longer can you live with the 6?

          • @bozbargain: Yeah those are good points with regards to price increase and availability.

In terms of potential new features is going to be incremental anyway (from the looks of it) so I am not too fussed - just hate buying so close to release unless the deal is right which I am trying to decide if $200 off makes it the right deal!

            • @RaihaX: Mmm having an included touch sensor on the screen itself for the iphone 13 is pretty big…. that’s one feature I’m holding out for… specially if wearing face masks are the future :/

    • My prediction is that the new iPhones will increase in price 1) chip shortages worldwide 2) Improved screen refresh rates.

      • +3

Yeah prices are getting ridiculous for phones in general…

  • Are these phones locked to Telstra?
I've put in an order but just realised I may not be able to use it with my existing Optus plan if it's locked…

    • To clarify, I paid outright.

      • +2

        No, they are not

        • +1

          Legend, thanks mate!

    • Was there any shipping costs? Thanks

  • Didn't work now, after credit check ,came up with a remark that a mobile plan is required for $200 off

  • +1

yea doesn't work unless you select a plan

    • It works for me just now. I saw the notification that select a plan. without selecting a plan, I added to the cart. I have bought it.

    • It also worked for me. Did not have to select a plan. Added to cart as outright and then checked out.

      • Which iPhone and storage option you chose? I am thinking of buying iPhone 12 with either 128GB or 256GB storage. Bit confused about whether to pay an extra $170 for the 256GB storage or go with 128GB storage.

      • How did you buy without a plan? I made an account but it tells me I need a plan. I also went to JB and Telstra store and no such luck.

    • no worked for me alright. bought the phone and it came unlocked.

  • +4

I just got JB to match in store. The guy mentioned it had to go through their Telstra system but didn't ask any of my Telstra account details to actually enter them.

    • Good to know. Hopefully the deal is still running by the time lockdown ends.

    • @thegreenmachine Will JB match this offer with their other $99 monthly and $900 bonus plan?

    • Which location?

    • Will they only offer match if you get a plan too? I want to get a phone outright with no plan.

      • I bought it outright. They did ask if I’m already a Telstra customer.

    • Hey mate looks like from your comment history that you're in Syd. Looking to follow up on this myself, so would love to know the store and the CSR if you remember but a receipt if you possibly have that too. Feel free to PM

      • Replying to my own post for anyone interested.
Got no luck matching at JB Parramatta was told that it had to be a plan direct with Telstra. Despite being able to go straight to checkout with outright option without a plan on Telstra site.

        • It was at Castle Towers this afternoon. The receipt doesn’t say who the salesman was.

          • @TheGreenMachine: I think you just got seriously lucky with a clueless CSR. I went to Merrylands JB afterwards and they clearly went through and said they can’t match it.

Wish I went to Towers today to give it a go myself, but unfortunately can’t do that and get the $900 off anymore.

        • Try continuing further after the checkout yourself on the website, it stops you with a validation saying a plan needs to be selected.

Worked for me today, Sunday, so if you've given this a shot and failed you might want to try again. Order confirmed, no contract or sim, just the outright mini.

    • Are you an existing Telstra member?

      • No, sorry for the late response. I have a Boost SIM for my number, but was not previously registered with a Telstra account in any way, I signed up on the day and managed to order straight away. I've got the phone now and it works with my SIM. :)

    Pretty decent deal.Thanks OP.

  • Can’t buy it outright online :( says I need an upfront plan. Sad

    • Can buy outright without a plan. Need a Telstra account.

      • Signed up and tried to purchase. Even verified all my identification. Unfortunately when it came time to pay, it just said i was inelegible :(

        • Hmmm….not sure why some can get it and some can’t.

    • Same here

If buying outright doesn’t work you can get similar deal here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/629553

Thank you! Was just able to buy outright online.
Had an unused Telstra account (e.g from an old mobile data sim 6+ years ago) and it all worked fine.

    Thanks!

  • I am thinking to buy outright with $55 plan and cancel it afterward
    Any opinion on this ?
    TIA

    • I had the same idea, went through the cart and was not applying the $200 off. Maybe I was doing something wrong…?

      • OMG I did it ,

  • I shall try… I am a bit worry about the drama when I request to terminate the plan

  • +1

just bought Iphone 12 128GB $200 off. Order confirmed by email

I wonder if those who can't seem to do do not have an existing Telstra ID?

    • Yes this may be the case. Perhaps if people aren't a member first create a Telstra ID, get in confirmed by e-mail, then try.

    • Are you planning to use with Telstra sim card or any other?

Just wondering if this phone is unlocked?

      • I will use an Aldi SIM and an OPTUS eSIM, others have said it's unlocked
