$15 off Order ($15 Minimum Spend) @ Spotlight in Store Only (VIP Members)

830

Just checked my email and saw the email with $15 Off. Since I am in overseas so I can't use it this time but thought to share it with Ozbargain community.
I am not sure whether it's targeted or the code is unique but you can try in store.

If anyone else received similar coupon please confirm if the code is same (as always spotlight does).

    Not in Victoria,sadly

    • +1

Regional VIC is out of lockdown, only Metro Melbourne remains

  • it is single use only so might be targetted

    • Might be single use per account.

      • good point!

      • Are you able to email me the original email please?

  • Hope it will last week in Melbourne lol

  • +5

Got the same email a week ago, can confirm it’s the same barcode

  • When is the expiry date?

    • +1

      14/06/21

  • Has it worked for anyone ? Needing to buy a few items, and wondering if it would work with items on special ?

    PSA Warning.

The last Spotlight $10 off (min $10 spend) was a complete scam.

Many many customers including myself were duped into thinking that spending more than $10 was required to get the discount.

The wordings on the voucher clearly stated min $10 spend to qualify….so customers pick items totaling above $10 (say $12) to qualify for the discount and expected to pay ($12- $10 = $2) But when we went to pay, the manager said that we had to spend $20 to get the $10 off. The staff apologized and expectedly got into many arguments with many disgruntled customers.

In this case. The wordings must actually state "MIN SPEND $30 to GET $15 OFF". Not what is shown above. Shame on Spotlight.

TAKE NOTE BEFORE YOU RUN OUT AND GET SCAMMED.

(I hope this is not the case at your location but this happened in Melbourne only couple of weeks ago).

    • Not sure what you mean? The image says $15 off for minimum $15 spend?

      • That's what I thought as well.

But the manager said we had to spend $15 of our own money to qualify for the $15 discount.

Meaning spend $30 to get $15 off. I was not happy but held my composure.

Many other customers just told the manager off and many left without buying anything.

Again, this happened in Melbourne, maybe not in your area.

        • +1

That sucks, because I thought the wording was clear enough, where did the manager even pull the $30 number from?!

          • @Rain Cloud: Spotlight Bayswater Store in Melbourne.

Yes I agree, but it was either buy or leave was the attitude then.

            • @Lexus101: Damn. Its okay, I'm too far to go there lol (in qld)

              • @Rain Cloud: Sweet Queensland, how I wished I was there now.

                Not in a Lockdown No.4. Lol :)

    • Do you mean the Mother’s Day $10 voucher? That one saw min spend $10. I bought a puzzle for $13-$10= $3

      • I got a few things that added up to exactly $10 that day and paid $0 lol

        • LOL. That what supposed to happen.

        • The Melbourne Bayswater Store is the store I went to. So next time I will avoid that place.

      • Yeah, tried that on same deal in NSW for mothers day?

Was told the $10 minimum spend was not including the voucher spend. I had $12 worth of items, and want to use the $10 voucher, was told you are only up to $2 spend. To claim it, they were making people spend $10 of their own money to get the $10 voucher.

        • +1

Damn, that's bad. The store I went to did not inflict this trouble. As mentioned before, I bought an item for $13 - $10 voucher = I paid $3.

        • I would say that it is cheating on Spotlight's part.

          See this: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/203542/89437/untitled.…

On Birthday voucher it clearly mentions $10 off Minimum spent $20 (so you pay $20 - $10 = $10)
On Mother's Day voucher it clearly mentions $10 off Minimum spent $10 (so you pay $10 - $10 = $0)

How come the minimum spend rule changed for some vouchers? I have stored the birthday email for them to prove in case they try to scam the system in the future.

      PSA UPDATE:

Apparently, the wording is correct and was honored in every other store except the Melbourne Bayswater Store.

Guess someone needs to educate the manager at that store then.

Have a nice weekend everyone :)

    • No issues with my store $10 bought exact $10 off

Maybe just a bad store you went to

For those who haven't received the email or haven't noticed, there is usually a list of exclusions in the T&Cs (which is available when you click on the barcode in the email) - e.g. every day low price items (whatever they're called), clearance and several other things that I don't remember. I haven't received this email so I don't have the list on hand.

BTW, would be keen to hear if anyone who also hasn't received the email has managed to use it in store.

Would like to know too to avoid embarrassment of it possibly not working!

    • Well it worked. Spent a total of 5c

      • +1

Did they ask for the email?

        • +2

No, it wouldnt scan properly but they just put the numbers in, then asked for my phone number

Unsubscribed from spotlight, pricks send way two many emails, like almost daily..

    • I think it's hit and miss, I've subscribed, and hardly ever receive their emails…

      • In the 12 mths or so I've been subscribed I have never received any email (including junk folder). Mum used to receive the paper copy in the mail but they stopped that. She doesn't get the emails either despite also being subscribed.

  • so, in the email is it like the offer in Nov where it says you have to show the email when you are making the purchase? I haven't received an email, so if it is targeted it may not work for other VIP members……….I have printed the barcode off, but no point turning up if I have to show my email with the offer as well.

    Worked for me

  • Just used in store to get 5 museli bars for free. Fark yeh. Used screenshot

  • +1

    Knocked back wouldn't accept screenshot

  • The store I went to asked for a copy of the email

  • Screenshot worked for me. Bought a cot quilt on special for $24 (RRP $40), paid $9.

    • It is your lucky day. I think it depends on the store and cashier at the register

      • The store I go to never ask for the emails 😊

  • Is there an expiry date?

  • Anyone got a copy of the original email you could send me? TIA

    • Same here - anybody able to send through original email - it would be greatly appreciated!

  • Can someone please post a voucher with the expiry date underneath. Thank you

  • Didn’t work. They asked for the email. I could try another location but I just wasted my lunch break to try it today.

    • Had that happen once with a screenshot. Just went to next counter in same store & was accepted. Local store has 4 counters to pay, with 7 checkouts.

After $150 free on vouchers last month - I'm Spotlighted out.

      • how did you get $150 voucher?

      • Yeah. I had to go to a different shopping centre which happens to have a spotlight and it got accepted there. Problem was with yesterday’s was that I chose the check out on the way out of the store. I won’t make that mistake again :)

        • Had opposite experience.
Because there were comments about another screenshot voucher not being accepted - took it to the quietest checkout - the party / balloon counter. She wouldn't have seen many vouchers, but asked for original email. Took to main counter a few minutes later - accepted.

Thanks OP, I’ve cleaned up, used it 4 times ! Screenshot only. Thanks for sharing :)

    • Was it 4 times on the same VIP card? Which store did you go to?

  • -1

Anyone can forward me the email for this offer?

  • +1

Depends on the rep and or store.

I gave her my items then showed her the picture (screenshot) and it scanned. I didn't need to give my membership details.

I remember when I worked in retail, I'm on the the reps who can't be bothered asking for the email. I would just scan it.

  • worked for me on 14/6
