Depends on who's using it. If I'm going to play older games, the 1650 is fine.

The 1650 will push 120+ FPS if you're gonna play stuff like CSGO, DOTA, rocket league, etc and will play a lot of games at 1080p 60FPS pretty easily.
Just giving throwing a blanket "it's not good for gaming" statement is frankly bullshit.
two of those games are 8 years old and the other is 6 years old. 1650 is a bit outdated if you want to play recent games, which is probably why the laptop is on sale.

Those games were designed to run at high framerates on any hardware due to being multiplayer centric games. Even a 5yr old iGPU can push 60+ on those.

Seems that the 1650 gives equivalent performance to the 1060 mobile cards of 3+ years ago. Can't imagine that you'd be getting the most out of a 120hz panel with that card - though $1,000 isn't too bad.
Lots of people play older games or games that have lower sys req and then play them on low. Horses for courses.

it seems they are going the way of the dodo though, newer computers come out with less and less ports. my PC case doesn't even have a slot for a disc drive and lenovo, once a bastion of function over form, are now joining the trend of slimmer and slimmer laptops, at the cost of ports and user repairability.
usb C will probably be the standard in a few years, my SD card reader from san disk didn't even come with a standard USB cable, only USB C, you have to buy an aftermarket cord with a standard connector because i don't think they even made one for that reader.
i almost forgot that laptops used to have disc drives as well. lol
I doubt USB Type A will be phased out anytime soon. I guess eventually they might be replaced by type-c ports but USB A is still so common among peripherals that it would crazy to do so now.
Standard 2.5" drives are becoming less common, I see lots of laptops just opt for m.2 NVMe drives especially the light and thin ones
I find SD card slots uncommon in laptops, this is something I miss. I guess everyone just uses a USB adapter
Removal on DVD drives are understandable. They take up a lot of space and hardly used these days
The laptop has to be bigger, heavier and thicker to accommodate this heavily outdated storage media
