Anyone have an opinion on what this tv is like compared to other budget TV's?

    • +55

      Meh I bought one anyway

I love how you didn't even wait 10mins for a reply and just caved in.

Excellent price for a decent TV.
Highly recommend coupling it with an NVIDIA Shield or the like.

      • +3

I have 85q8 with nvidia shield. Highly recommended !

  • +1

is this better than samsung AU8000?

    • +2

      yes

    • +11

It makes Hisense… to buy Hisense

  • +1

Anyone know what the major differences between this and the Q8 are?

    • +4

Q8 has more nits, also built in "soundbar"

    • +1

The Q8 is a significant step up and would be the easy choice if budget allows. And no, it does not support HDMI 2.1

      • +3

I own 65q8 and if it's a significant step up from q7, then q7 must be bad in some respect.

My q8 is alright, to be clear, but it's rather acceptable than mind-blowing.

        • +1

It's hard to label any Hisense TV as "mind blowing".

    • Didn't have a problem 4 years ago with my 40' 4k tv lol.

      Did you call or email?

      • email.

for some technical details that are prob too complex for themselves

        • +8

          What sort of technical difficulties?

I called Hisense over the phone, simply if your product has warranty they will send someone over to repair, or deal with ACL etc…

Since you have a good knowledge of technical details why not fix it yourself.

You have a really shitty attitude lmao.

When did I say that I have good knowledge of technical details? I was asking them for a reason…

You have a really shitty attitude lmao.

You also have a really shitty attitude lmao.

@[Deactivated]: I like how the last 2 sentences are in alignment.

              • +1

@randomsquat: So are their thoughts lol

                • @montorola: what makes me have a shit attitude?

I could reword my sentence to sound not as harsh, but when I email a company I'd expect to get a reply.

Just to add to this. 2 out of 3 Hisense TV's I've owned had to be refunded. 1 was sold on as it was also giving me issues.

All around the $900-$1000 range too.

      • +1

Same. Mine's also giving issues :(. I should check out my refund options now!

They're selling cheap crap at $1000.

      • +2

For the couple of downvoters, note I didn't say anything bad about the brand or TV. I am providing my experience with my 3 TV's that I purchased.

Apologies for not loving a brand.

    • +4

Weird… I had no problem contacting them this week.

TV's been going strong for 2.5 years, and just now having issue with the LCD panel adhesive coming loose on the edge of the frame… Service Tech was out yesterday & said Hisense should be sending me a new TV in 1-2 weeks. From what he said, it should be the equivalent current model (so I'll either a 65q8 or if i'm really lucky a 65u8g, up from the 65p8 i have now).

Based on this experience i'm hoping my other hisense develops a similar issue in a years time too lol

      • +1

        How severe was your issue?

My TV has a mind of its own. Inbuilt Smart OS is pretty bad, doing some simple tasks jams up the set and I just don't like how it flickers so much when playing some free to air TV.

        • +1

The LCD panel itself is falling away from the TV body, there is a 5mm gap along the right edge.

Picture quality has been perfect though, no flickering or banding.
The smart OS is average, but it’s what I expect from a lower end brand… I don’t use it though, would have bought a non-smart TV (with same picture quality) if I could have. Have FetchTV & Xbox One X for watching stuff.

  • All I care about is smooth motion. Does this have decent smooth motion and the OS doesn't matter because I'll be using a pc to run it.

    • +2

Definitely not the first choice for motion handling, that's for sure. Purchase a Sony if that is important to you.

  • Whats the price without Afterpay?

    • +1

      $945.00 with coupon PPSS100 + shipping

  • Any good deals on TVs bit smaller. 55" would be ideal.

    • +1

      55S8 ~$590

      • S is a step down from Q?

  • Excellent price for a TV with full array and quantum dot

  • 50Hz panel, you've been warned. Get Q8 instead

    • +1

      Hisense website says 60hz panel

    • nobody manufactures 50Hz panels. The TVs in Europe and Australia are sometimes advertised as 50 and 100Hz but they are all native 60Hz or 120Hz. They use the 50Hz mode to display free to air TV broadcasts. Australian free to air is broadcast at 50hz so double that for smooth motion is 100. If you're feeding it a 60hz it will smooth motion 120hz.
Once you feed them with a 60Hz signal, like from a games console, PC, dvd, etc the TV will automatically switch to 60Hz.

It would be stupid to make exclusively 50Hz TVs these days.

    • I have this and it definitely runs at 4k 60. 50hz is just referring to the pal tv standard.

  • How many payments that I have to pay if use Afterpay, Thanks.

      You can't be serious?

What does everyone think of the Samsung frame tvs? I love they sit flat on the wall and dont mind the internal tech is in a seperate box. Any views?

    • +1

We got one, and it's super cool!
The fibre cable to the seperate box is awesome.
Picture quality is great for what it is, but not fald like this one

      • +1

Thanks, appreciate it. I’ve been considering it for a bit and with the new model out I think I might grab one

  • this or the Q8

  • Thinking about change TV , 12 years ago I bought a hitachi 40 or 43 ins TV full HD at Binglee, IPS panel (also from Ozbargain) , now it still working , but too big too heavy and probably power consumption is double the newer one.

  • Does q8 come with Prime Video App?

Just went to JB hifi and they said Q8 won't have Prime Video

  • +1

Just bought. Anything will be better compared to my outgoing 15 year old Samsung Plasma SD 42” TV… Lol.
