FWIW it took my cashback the full 60 days (to the day) to get my money back, would not recommend.

You cannot wait 60 days for $16? I agree it is not ideal and could be much faster but it is not as if you don't get the product for 60 days.

When its $260 from buying the 4tb one, yeah you feel it a fair bit

        • +10

If you feel that a fair bit, best not to buy it at all.

Ah good to know it is 60 days. For some reason I thought it was 30 days and I was about to email them. I submitted my claim on 6 May.

Happy to wait - luckily my life doesn't depend on a $32 cashback claim…

    This is slow

Currently, there are issues with this model when applying for the cashback via the Samsung site.

It's rejecting the serial number entered on these drives for some reason. There is another thread where quite a few of us had the same issue.

I've sent support an email but no reply yet.

the SN on the actual drive has one more digit than its packaging, which one are you using?

      • +2

15 digit serial number on the drive is rejected.

      • Should have mentioned, it is still rejecting the serial number from the back of the drive itself. It seems to be some technical issue if so many people are having the same problem.

    • +3

This is just their usual trick so people won't bother to redeem.

  • I have asked the mods to change the deal to this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/174412012723

If you are happy to pay with Afterpay it will make it $102.15 (with the cashback included).

Use code AFTPY15 and pay with Afterpay!

    • Updated.

    • Hi I just bought one with afterpay but still showed me $118 should I cancel and repurchase

  • It's cheap but it's bad. It's bad but it's cheap🙃

    • How bad?

        • Wow, that's brutal. Had no idea these devices were so terrible. Thanks for the link.

            @yamumma: no worries..
I am also interested in the 1tb SSD

yeah i would save money and get the normal 870 EVO, or even 860/850 etc..

The heading in review says it all

Samsung 870 QVO 1 TB Review - Terrible, Do Not Buy

          • +1

@yamumma: It's actually not terrible at all, unless you do a single large write operation of more than 40GB - write speed drops to 100MB/s at that point.

In normal use, a none issue - even if you copy 50GB files around from another SSD (Direct Blu-ray rips for example) you'll still get good speed from the first 40GB of write - if you're copying them from a mechanical drive, then you'll be limited by the mechanical drive read speed, not the Samsung drive.

The TechPowerUp conclusion focuses heavily on that one particular shortcoming - it's not an issue for "normal" use.

If you're moving large 40GB+ files between SSDs regularly, then don't buy this. Most folks aren't doing that…
