    • Local congestion, and an example why wireless will never be a complete replacement for wired services like fibre.

      • True but wireless will be the future if you haven't notice already. I.e. dropping of headphone jacks etc.

You simply cannot build technological advance civilization on wires.

  • $900 gift card is that only for phone or can be used for anything else?

    • +1

Depends on the staff you get. If they are nice they will allow you to use the $900 gc on other items in store. I managed to get a $500 phone + $400 of other things non-mobile related on my transaction but it needs to be used immediately.

  • Wait, do you need to use the 900$ off the phone the same day?

    • No - just need to use in same transaction….

  • Got the S20FE 5G + $101 Credit

    Used it on MX3 mouse.

  • For those who had purchased this, I am curious how the $900 off phones work - does the $900 off appear as a deduction off the phone price or does it appear as a type of payment method, i.e. gift card at the bottom of the invoice?

    • 900 Gift Card off the whole transaction

Doesn't have to be a phone

      May I ask why?

      • Ah I see thanks. Just in terms if you are claiming the phone cost from work etc, having the full phone price minus the gift card as a payment method is better in terms of reimbursement compared to the other way round.

  • Too bad they don't allow you to buy a $1200 phone and use the $900 credit towards something else in store….guessing they must get a sizable rebate back from Telstra to be able to offer this deal. Current deal no good if you already have a long time left on your current phone plan.

    • They do, read above

      • I understand you can use the GC on something else, what I meant is the requirement/must sign up to the telstra 12 month $99 plan i.e. Pay $1200 for the phone…no discount, and get the GC to spend on something else in store, Was thinking to buy phone under business expense, and get a TV for personal use

        • +1

If you buy a $1200 phone with the $900 gift card discount, you would be out of pocket $300. Assuming you can claim the $1200 tax invoice under business expense, technically you would be reimbursed an extra $900 that you can use for the TV?

  • A little miffed I missed this until now. Anyone think I'd have any chance of being able to get the same deal if I waltzed in tomorrow and asked for it?

  • The staff were certain it’s only for today. I read somewhere that you can also get an extra $10/ month off the phone plan but the staff I spoke to said not possible. Also cannot use jb hi-fi gift cards to purchase the phone plan as it’s charged by Telstra. Are they right or have I got the wrong info?

  • +1

The discount of $900 is no way worth an expensive phone over $1,000, when you’re paying $100 a month, times that by twelve it will cost $1,200 just for keeping your number when I pay $70 a year. You’re pretty much paying for two iPhones/ Samsung’s.
People buy your phones outright with Afterpay/ zip pay and go sim only!

    • Agreed. Its a total eyewash….spending $100/month on a phone plan is ridiculous. There are those specific use cases where someone might need that much data consistently and then it's justified, but I can't see many other situations where this phone plan is worth it.

JB Hi FI now offer LattitudePay.

  • Can you cancel the contract and keep the phone?

    • Yes, however you will have to pay ETC which likely be eye watering in this case.

  • seeking some clarification from pro jb hifi voucher collectors.

my contract has a maximum early termination fee listed as $594.

to my untrained eyes this would appear as though i can cancel it immediately - taking the $594 hit, this appears contrary to past deals commenters. as i understood the ETC was removed

anyone else who took out a contract able to provide an opinion? thanks

    • +1

594 + the GC amount im pretty sure…

  • So really you pay $1200, they use $300 towards phone and $900 on phone.

I want to be happy but honestly just a few years ago I would get on $79 contract and the Galaxy or iPhone would be free.

This doesn’t do anything for me.

    • On a 1-year plan? Very unlikely (since iPhones and Galaxy’s cost typically more than $948).

      • It was for 2 year plans.

In this above deal you still need the chuck in $500-$1000 to get the phone on top of the $900 you are paying for anyway. What’s the deal?

        • I can’t answer this for you but you can work it out yourself. This plan comes down to an insane amount of 5G data with a $900 (phone) discount on a $1,188 plan. That brings down the true cost of the plan to $24/month. You can compare this to your $79 plan over 24 months ($1,896) and deduct the value of the phone you got for free. Let’s say it was a $1,200 phone you got for free, that would make the true plan cost $29/month over 24 months. So arguably, this deal is better value and gives you more data.

  • Does anyone know if JB Hifi plans support eSim? I’m sick of juggling work and personal phones and would like to set up my personal number as esim on an iPhone 12 and then put the physical work sim in.

  • Yes, head to Telstra store to get an esim
