I hate scissors with that torture trap called a bottle opener on the handle. Have lost many a good nipples to those sneaky bastards.

Have lost many a good nipples

Well you only have 2, possibly 3 at most. I get the sentiment though.

Family included. I’ll never forget the time my poor innocent mother clamped down on her lefty.

That was the day I knew it was time to take them out of the draw and bin them right away, as it just kept happening.

I’d forget they were evil, and reach for them to cut something quickly and bam, paralysed in pain wondering how I let this happen to myself again!

I feel for anyone who dare to use these on a cold winters day

I think you need to remind your mum to wear a bra while in the kitchen

    • +5

As least it didn't cut through your meat and nuts

    • +2

We must have very different cutting styles, I've been using these for many years and no nipples have been harmed

Have had a pair of these for years and still sharp and look new. Our pair go through the dishwasher regularly.

    • +1

Same, though we don't put them through the dishwasher. Tempted to buy a couple for gifts.

    • Same

    • +1

      hmm ours went rusty :/

      • +2

Ours are going 10+ years still look like new.

      • Assuming you mean surface rust\discolouration? That's a sign of a strong blade (high carbon). a quick polish with vinegar should get them clean again.
Same with good knives; gotta make sure they're dry before storing; and a little blade oil never goes astray.

These came with our Mundial knife block we bought about 6 years ago, still going strong. To be honest though the take apart feature is a bit annoying…I can see the benefit, but sometimes it can have a mind of its own and come undone when you dont want it to.

    • +2

I really like the feature, perfect for dumping them in the dishwasher. Ours must be around 10 years old now, also came with that knife block set, mostly moved on to better knives but still use the scissors.

      • Same. Probably 15 years old ours.

    • I feel if it wasnt for the take-apart feature, they wouldn't last as long as they do.

  • Can they be sharpened when needed?

    • +1

Yep because they come apart it's a breeze to sharpen

    • +3

I’m sure you can. But we haven’t in the 15 years we’ve had ours. Don’t feel the need to, they cut through most things no problem.

  • +3

Got one as wedding present, 29 years ago and still going strong.

  • Just lost ours (in the process of moving, so probably lost in a box somewhere) Could always do with a second pair. Cheers OP

Can cut through meat and nuts.

    Anybody else wince at this?

    • +1

      ouch, that would hurt

      • +1

I don't need the Missus knowing this.

  • +2

I have gone through 2 of these. Works well but the red logo will disintegrate and fall off after a couple of years exposing a rusty joint. Doesn't affect function though.

  • Looks like it's sold out :-(

  • Hand wash recommended?

What poisons are these coated in that require me to wash my hands after each use?

  • 336 sold in one hour.

  • I remember buying these for $5 through OZB.
Still going strong. more than 10 years

  • Interesting that OzB no longer lets you comment sold out without a report

  • If you don't have eBay Plus but have Prime, it's $17 delivered on Amazon.

  • Is Ebay payment gateway working now?
I paid 3 times and the PayPal refunded. Chat said there is an issue with Ebay payment gateway…

    • Yeah, I had the same issue with an order this morning. Got refunded and had to go through the payment process again.. annoying. Hopefully I won't have to do it again

      • I paid 3 times and then gave up. Ebay still asking for payment…lol

        • eBay confirmed that it was an issue with the coupon code. They suggested using PEOFY22 instead

  • I just use any normal stainless steel scissors.

  • sold out? I only get offered 'add to watch list' not 'buy now'

  • +2

Wow; I've had these (in a block kit) since 2004, with very frequent use, and I just realised there is a bottle opener 0n the handle - mind blown!

I've had a pair of Mundial scissors for 10+ years as part of a knife block, and thought that they were great. So much so, that when I saw these for a discounted price in a Peter's store, I had to get another pair.

Unfortunately for me, this new pair were not the quality of the original pair. The handles felt cheaper, and didn't line up quite as well as the original. Even though the steel was labelled the same type, they look wrote different. YMMV. I'll be interested to hear how other people go.

    • I think you are quite right. I have received the new one today. Origin PRC, not as my first one Brazil? Totally different.

    • Does the cutting feel the same? Not sure if I should get one now

      • It doesn't quite feel the same, but it's still probably worth the money. It will easily cut through a roast chook, so I'd say it's worth it, but not a bargain.

  • Back in stock this morning

  • Have owned and used a pair of these for over 15 years, bargain.
