Wow better than the afterpay sale?

    • +19

unlikely because it will apply to way less sellers/items that people actually want.

    • The discount will be for sellers who opted into this promotion.

With Afterpay no longer footing the buyer discount bill, the range of discounted items might be limited.

      • +1

eBay generally foots part of it, too

        • ebay used too.. not anymore!
they want sellers to fit all the discount.. lol.. plus pay ebay fees!

    • +10

Nope, it's just a few sellers that have massively price jacked nearly everything.

      • +1

Ozplaza.living is a participating seller. Some computer desks seem to be of the best prices ever.

      • +12

disgusting practice (price jacking). Wastes everyone’s time and extremely misleading. It should be a law to always announce discount only relative to RRP provided by manufacturer, not to a random made up number

        • +10

There is already a law against it. Increasing the price before a sale to inflate the discount is illegal and I don't know why eBay sellers have gotten away with it for so long. Kogan has been fined for it several times already (though doesn't seem to stop him, pretty sure ACCC fines are part of his advertising budget)

(Using RRP as a baseline probably isn't much help though, since they are usually massively over what the market sells for in a lot of cases)

          • -1

@bamzero: Interesting, I didn't know there was already a law against it! Thanks for the info. As for the RRP, I guess that is just to have some kind of normalization so you can easily compare discounts given by different sellers (so you know the greater the % the greater the discount really is)

      • +2

Most deals are only 2.7% cheaper than Amazon. No real bargain at all plus long delivery time.

  • “Eligible items”, hope there will be more sellers this time :)

    • Pretty sure it all ebay plus items. Low chance when seller have foot majority of the discounted price ontop ebay fees. No wonder, only big seller signup to this promotions. Even if they break the price jack condition, ebay wouldn't kick them off the platform.

  • +3

Anyway to see the eligible items beforehand? Page is showing as blank to me?

    • No. You have to wait for the sale to start.

    • +11

Search for items that have have their price jacked by 25% /s

  • +3

I knew I should have waited before ordering expensive things with the 10% code… cries
I'm guessing the eligible items link is empty because the sale hasn't started yet?

    • Which 10% code please? Was it for all products?

  • +3

sh*t. Just got one 1 week ago in 205$

  • Xiaomi Viomi A9 vs Xiaomi Dreame T20 ?

  • +1

    Are they good on carpets?

Also Xiaomi Viomi A9 vs Xiaomi Dreame T20, which ones better?

    • Also Xiaomi Viomi A9 vs Xiaomi Dreame T20, which ones better?

Haha! I literally asked the same question 3 minutes before you. :D

I was this close to pulling the trigger on the T20 using the Afterpay deal.

      • -1

A9 is great on carpets, but for me its picking up way too much stuff even on low setting that Im wondering if its actually damaging the carpet with the soft brush roller.. does a great job Im very happy.

        • Does the A9 come with a dedicated carpet (aka multi-purpose) head like the T20?

          • @DoctorCalculon: From the looks of the pictures, it looks like it only comes with a miniature brush roller head. Mainly used for cleaning sofas.

      • I am not sure how close it is since I can't see your finger but I would say it's pretty close?

    • +2

No, soft roller heads are NOT good on carpets. They are only good on hard floors. You need a bristled brush roll for carpets.

  • is the G14 Asus eligible?

  • +18

Someone has reported this deal as Insufficient Quantity when it hasn't even started. How could people be so dumb?!?

    • +3

      • +3

        Whoreded*

    • Welcome to Ozbargain

    • +1

they're not wrong, you know? haha. It will be insufficient quantity as soon as the deal starts.
(No, it wasn't me who reported it, but funny)

  • -5

Is there a way to search for products that is eligble? Like how Afterpay has the search function of eligble products.

      • +5

        Care to share?

      • +1

What was the way you found?

  • +2

Here we go the biggest jacks of the year.

    • Hungry Jack's

      • Jack the ripper? Ripping off buyers since….. BC (before Covid)

        • We're getting ripped [off] tonight, RIP that price tonight ayyyy

  • If a promotion costs a seller the equivalent increase in loss as the result of a discount, why wouldn't they marginally increase their prices? Having said that, does an eBay based promotion cost a seller to participate in such a promotion?

    • they send sellers this

      "Contractual Terms Reminder
Retail promotions are a fundamental part of the eBay business. The cornerstone of retail promotions is ensuring that buyers are being offered genuine discounts by sellers on the platform. As you can appreciate, the way that sellers adjust their pricing can seriously impact buyers’ perception of what is a genuine discount, not to mention that it can result in a breach of Australian Consumer Law. The value of our retail promotions is diminished if we receive public negative buyer feedback or press on issues such as pricing and genuine discounts and that in turn will affect the returns that sellers like yourself receive from taking part in these promotions.
Please refer to your contract for details of your obligations on participation in the promotion and how your contribution to the discount will be charged. Please also note, that in accordance with our contractual terms, we reserve the right not to proceed with the promotion at our discretion, should we determine that is necessary.
      Kind Regards
      Retail Promotions Team"

      • So sellers are charged to participate in a discount program. Thanks for that.

My point is when a seller already has an item discounted prior to a specific promotion commencing either as a result of an existing discount program or an actual seller discount, it would make no business sense to leave the discount in place if it's going to cost them an additional slice of profit as a result of the new promotion. I guess it's then at the sellers discretion as to wether or not, it's in their interest to participate…

Problem is most punters forget business is run to make money, not for s__ts and giggles…

        • Definitely understand that. But also if your margins are not healthy enough (even after eBay foots part of the promo discount), then maybe you shouldn’t participate in it. It’s supposed to be a fair exchange: you lower your margins, the promo helps you bring higher sales volume to make up for it. But many sellers are greedy and want both.

I agree that if they were running a promo price, it’s fair to put it back to normal/retail price prior to the new promotion. But sadly there are lots of bad sellers who jack the price beyond retail. Eg. Some seller has AirPods max on right now for $916.99 - they retail at Apple for $899 and are even often sold at under that at official retailers.

        • Not to mention how illegal this really is

  • +5

Don't go too crazy, prime day is this weekend.

    • +4

No cashback on key categories has made most products sourced widely cheaper elsewhere than AMZ . Watching the Prime days they get tighter every year. I'm the true advocate of the lowest price and my spending with AMZ has gone down substantially compared to prior to the pandemic .

    • -1

Don't think I ever have bought anything during prime day.

    • I thought so too but Amazon says prime day is 21-22 June.. which is Monday/Tuesday lol

  • hi all, just curious as to how to get the $167 price? is that for eBay Plus members only?
cos right now price is $239, and 20% 22% both can't get it down to $167.
unless those prices start at 10am..
    any clarification appreciated

    • Yes 10am

      • thanks, mate

    • Looking at the purchase history it was $215.10 yesterday. 22% off that gives the $167.78 so looks like they’ve jacked the price for the promo.

      • okay, maybe admin should modify price in title to $191.20 and $186.42

    • is 10 am today or tomorrow? Im eBay plus member and still showing $186.42. Thanks

  • So it’s capped at max 300 even for eBay plus?

Edit, meh, item I want is excluded anyway.

  • +10

    Jack has arrived,

    on Futu,

    10700k was $399 now $525.

afterpay15 brought it to $330, 22% brings it to $409

    • Always check against static ice before buying. Captain Jack is just wasting everyone's time

  • +8

A motherboard I had in my watchlist from 2 different sellers, using the EOFY22 code is now more expensive than it has been for the last few weeks !

  • +10

The afterpay discount was much better ! Had better sellers and discounts on discounts instead of this crap.

    • +1

      Yup! Totally agree.

Uncle Jack has gone into a frenzy with this eBay promotion.

    • +1

All I saw was Jack inspired sellers with no bargains .
Waste of time . More than 500 times worst than Afterpay sale is my summary .

  • +4

    Going back to sleep…

    • +2

Another eBay promotion where you snooze, you don't lose.

      How considerate, thanks eBay.

Unifi Dream Machine Pro for $420.35 at CablePro eBay. All time lowest price I believe.

    • Has yours gone through, mine was refunded saying something about payment not going through.

Done it again, paypal shows it, shows as pending on bank side for the 2nd time. yet ebay has it listed under unpaid items.

      • I’m having the exact same issue… will contact support and reply here if I get a reason as to why.

        • +1

          I'm in a chat que atm ;)

Will be so pissed if miss out on the deal

      • I’m having issues with the gearbite’s xiaomi mi light bar payment, with Afterpay, saying eBay payment system is glitching today. Anyway, with regards to CablePro, they just send offer out with further discounts (since I put it under my watch list), but I guess I’ll stick with wireless1…

    • I want to buy, but their feedback isn't great.
