      You can plugin eero to the nbn NTD if the ISP you are with uses the IPoE protocol. It is not possible if the ISP uses the PPPoE and VLAN 802.1Q protocols.

          In the Aussie BB app use the kick connection option to end the DHCP session and then you can plugin eero to the nbn NTD.

      there is a youtuber who tested both in different setup scenarios , can’t remember the name. But basically they have similar speed. Don’t know why since the eero 6 supports AX.

        iirc, the Eero 6 has really bad band steering algorithm and it frequently puts devices on the 2.4Ghz too often. It also doesn't have backhaul band (not that the Nest Wifi has though) which should be standard for AX mesh nowadays imo.

          Interesting. Lots of YouTube reviews said the eero is much better and more stable than the nest wifi. And the eero6 is better than the eero.
          I thought it's a no brainer picking the eero6 over nest wifi

      zigbee support is bonus in this. but in both of them, mesh points can't be connected by Ethernet it is wireless only unlike Deco M5 or Tenda Nowa.

          I had the older M5 deco and they were amazing and I'm a pretty heavy user. Zero issues and they are super cheap.. you could go for the more expensive options of the deco if you need them. I moved to ubiquiti have a dream machine and a nanohd and the 2 pack M5 I had did better coverage

          It should be Ethernet. Do you have FTTN, FTTB, FTTC, FTTP, HFC? If you are unsure check here

            @Twix: It’s nbn™ Hybrid Fibre Coaxial. But I have an adapter box from nbn that connects to a router with the Ethernet looking connector connecting to the router from the nbn modem box

              @jayboi: What you do is get the Ethernet cable coming out from the nbn HFC box and plug it into the eero. eero is not compatible with certain ISPs. Who are you with?

    How does this compare to a tri-band Wi-Fi 5 mesh system like the Netgear Orbi RBK40?

      firstly the US has the tri band version of this. I was waiting for that to turn up, well until I (hopefully) nabbed a pair of Asus XT8 for under $550.

      IMHO tri-band is better, as it has a separate dedicated band for back haul, so if like me you have 20+ devices connected, it doesn't have to share the same wifi channel between devices thus is faster.

      Do you have any/many wifi 6 devices? I've got 2, and can't see me getting more then 1 or two in the next few years, so I'd go the AC version. or wait for the tri-band eero to come to oz.

      I tried the similar Netgear Nighthawk MK63 AX1800. It struggles on the furthest node upstairs, 5m away from the main router. Speed drops from 100Mbps to 70Mbps.

      Returned it and went back to my Netgear Orbi RBK50 AC3000.

      You really need the tri-band for the wireless backhaul to maintain top speed.

    Would this work with LBN?
    I'm in an apartment with LBN (no NBN) and I have my wifi router/modem plugged into the NTD.
    I've then connected it to the ethernet ports (which link up to every room etc in my apartment).

    But unless I plug my PC directly to the NTD, I only get up to 100mbps.

    Wondering if this would solve the issue?

      eero is compatible with LBN but not compatible with certain ISPs. Is the apartment big or small with many walls? Who is your ISP?

        Thanks Twix, appreciate the help since I'm pretty clueless and reading the description, checking out our ISP didn't really help lol.

        I'm with Launtel and no plans to change, do you know if its compatible? Or are there any better solutions?

        In buying this, I was hoping mainly that wifi could be better (parts of the apartment don't really get it, and we definitely don't get over 100mbps on any speedtests (even though I'm on the 250mbps plan).

        A side thing I was hoping was that through ethernet I could also get the maximum 250mbps (still only get 100mbps).

        Currently using this as my wifi/ethernet router

          Launtel is compatible with eero. eero can do around 750Mbps. In an apartment maybe all you need a single router replacement and not a three bundle mesh system.

    FYI, this applies the $79 discount pro rata across both the mesh system and the dot. So it brings the mesh system down to $284. Of you use it for working from home then it's now under the $300 tax deduction threshold.

    I understand the difference between Wi-Fi 5 and 6 but the lack of ethernet ports on the "extenders" in eero 6 is not something that I like.

      I was just wondering the same. I bought the base eero 3-pack a couple weeks ago, works excellent + I can hardwire my PS5 to one of the extenders. I can't hardwire to the main router unit due to where it is located. The base eero is rated at 350mbps, which I can't even get from NBN. SuperLoop told me my line is zoned for 50mbps but my 100mbps plan squeezes out 65mbps consistently. So I have no use for eero6's 500mbps.
      The wifi-5 eero 3-pack is still on for $309, pretty good. I paid $349 at JB a few weeks ago.

        I am on 100/40. I am not sure if it makes sense to spend $159 x 3 = $477 given that we are unlikely to see affordable NBN gigabit plans.

    Does anyone know if this would work with VOIP via an adapter. E.g. a Grandstream HT812. Was thinking of grabbing one of these for my folks as they're in struggle town with their modems WiFi supplied by ABB. The only negative I can see is the Eero doesn't support VOIP phones out of the box (just rubbish consumer handsets from HN, etc.). I notice ABB recommend Grandstream HT812 with the Google Nest setup they sell, I assume it would be the same for this?

      With Aussie BB plugin the HT812 to the eero 6 router to get VoIP up and running. HT812 isn't compatible with VoIP from Telstra and Optus.

    Newbie question. Can this be connected in such a manner?

    Telstra modem (in garage) -> Network Switch (in garage) -> Ethernet port (in house) -> eero router -> eero extender?
