  • I'd go for a 4-bay for not too much more.

2-bay is too limiting unless you have a specific use for it

  • How is it compare to synology in general?

I am hoping they would do a deal on 920+

    • +1

Synology's software is far more polished and has a better app ecosystem than TerraMaster. These TerraMaster NAS drives are good if you're looking for network storage on a budget, as they're a lot cheaper than similar offerings from Synology/QNAP/ASUSTOR.

The 920+ is certainly a better and newer product which explains the higher price tag as well. In terms of hardware it offers a quad-core CPU, DDR4 RAM and 2 M.2 SSD slots.

      • I don't particularly love mine. Tons of issues with the Docker implementation.

  • +1

How long it takes to learn and setup NAS ? Which brand is the best go to for household use ?

    • I recommend to go with either Synology or QNAP. Both will have models with similar hardware. I've used both and find the Synology has a better interface. Makes it really simple to use the NAS services.

      • +1 for Synology

        TerraMaster<QNAP<Synology<TrueNAS

trueNAS you can install on any old x86 capable pc to test and can improve a lot with server grade components. It's like building as per your requirements and enterprise grade open source OS.

        • Install TrueNAS on this and win win? ;)

  • anyone has recommendation for the ram upgrades? I have the 5-bay version
