Cheapest price for a pair of Crossfade Wireless 2 headphones from V-Moda in a while. Next cheapest price I have seen on Ozbargain (edit: recently) were a pair of the Rose Gold versions for $299. Crossfade Wireless 2's usually retail for around $350 for the Black version and closer to $400 for the Rose Gold version with the Qualcomm codec.

Part of V-Moda's "Artist Series" with unique earplates inspired by Jimi Hendrix. Only difference between these and the normal Crossfade Wireless 2's seems to be the earplate design and the colour of the 3.5mm cable which is now purple.

Over-ear design. Not sure if this comes with the Qualcomm aptX codec but I doubt it. V-Moda are known for having great build quality and punchy bass.

If you're not a fan of the earplate design, you can always swap them out with solid colour earplates which cost around $40 shipped from Amazon. Still ends up being significantly cheaper than most other deals posted for these headphones on Ozbargain or according to CamelCamelCamel.

Edit: The next cheapest price for these cans was $197 delivered from David Jones back in 2019.

Great sounding headphones… Be wary that the areas where the arms attach to the headphones can crack, (happened to mine and my wife's)… Just something to take into consideration buying from overseas….

    • +1

after 2 years light use of my M100, it cracked too. i just use ziptie to hold it. until last week got my sony XM4s lol

      • Yeh it doesn’t stop working I guess hehe but super annoying… anyway just stuff to keep in mind ordering them from overseas… amazing sound though, easily my fave audio quality wise …

    • That sucks but surely buying from Amazon should be okay. They generally have good return/warranty policy.

    • Same happened here with 1 of my V-Modas. I did an RMA with V-Moda directly and the whole process was pretty seamless. They sent me a brand new replacement. I was very impressed with their after service

    • no AU/US warranty?

      • They seem to operate out of US, nothing in Aus.

    • Also happened to me after a few years.

Inspired by Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze?
That’s a tenuous and rather cynical link.
Using the dead to make coin

He wore these at Woodstock right?

    • +4

This is a collaboration with the Jimi Hendrix estate so I assume his family is making money off of it too.

      • +4

His "estate" is a decades old train-wreck, consisting of greedy lawsuits and people fighting over his music and image rights.

Besides, Jimi wasn't about hiding under a pair of headphones. He was about loud speakers in the open, Marshall amps, distortion, acid and rock n roll!

I agree with OP, it's a trashy link. "Let's slap Jimi's face on our product because we have the legal right".

  • Great headphones

  • Any good reviews? Tried to search but couldn't find much.
Not the same thing, but how do they compare to the typical XM4 or QE35?

  • +1

Micro-USB charging, for those who care.

  • Really miss my original Crossfade's. Kickass bass. Might give these a go.

  • If you're not a fan of the earplate design, you can always swap them out

Who would want to do that?!!

  • I remember I was really into these and was going to buy them years ago until I found out about the comfort. Then, they fell out of the fashion brands they were competing with. These days, without anc on overhead headphones, is unheard of…see what I did there? No? I will see myself out…

I had v1 of wireless and while wired they were very solid, wireless was.. almost unusable, dropping packets in slightest congestion

also I could never choose between original and XL earpads, both had their pros and cons

so after a few months I sold them, earpads and all

very cool and durable design, amazing sound, but meh wireless

few headsets later, I settled on Jabra Elite Active 75t. good bass, good sound, good ANC, pocketable, usb-c charging, bt 5.0, etc, etc

so.. yeah. CFW v2 I think is also just SBC codec

  • Their design never resonated with me. Always felt too try hard "euro cool".

  • Open back or close back?

  • I’ve got these (from DJ deal) and I use them more than any other.
If you don’t care about ANC, I prefer CW2 over the popular Bose QC2 and Sony
They have great bass (without being muddy) and build quality is top notch.
