  • How does Liitokala compare vs Nitecore?

  • Will require adaptor for use here…

    • +14

Charges via USB.. who doesn’t have a zillion spare USB chargers

      • +2

I presume these are still using micro usb?

        • yes

      • Isn't USB quite limited in wattage? How long does it charge a set of 4 laddas
Is it better to use than my aa fast charger that does 2000mah in 1hr?

        • You need 9.6W of power to charge 4x2000mAh batteries (1.2V each) in 1 hour. USB chargers are usually 2.1A (10.5W) or higher.

          • @bio: Been digging, seems like by design they limit to 500ma x4 on many models. Except Lii-500s

            • @furyou: So does that mean 4 hours (may be adding 1-2 hours because of not having 100% efficiency)?

              • @Averell: I got a 2200 charger does 4 laddas 1hr
                I got a 500 does in 5

that's why I don't really feel like buying another 500, it's like all day.

                • @furyou: But would a higher current cause more damage to the battery? I usually leave it run overnight

                  • +1

                    @Averell: yes maybe
                    but
everything, using, just time, cause damage to the battery
would a charge o/n cause damage because you didn't take it off as soon as it hit 100%? who knows?

  • +2

I have the 202. Wish I had the 402. Just saying.

    Great unit though.

    • +1

This deal is for the 402 though. Just said something.

      • +1

But will he read it this time before making another pointless comment lol

      • +1

No it’s not just for that. Read the post, buddy

  • I actually bought the Lil-402 charger off ebay about a month ago for about $17 on special which I thought was a good price after the catch 8 pack eneloop deals. Having used it a few times now, I can say it's a great charger and faster then the stock eneloop wall charger too.

  • Great deal on a great product

    • +1 does not take type-C though but apart from that this is a solid charger.

      • -2
        • +2

It does take C cell batteries according to the review posted above.

I think they meant does not take usb type c (takes micro usb).

  • Sticky this to every eneloop post.

  • I wouldn't mind getting a charger that has a test function so I can evaluate my older 18650's…

Does anyone have any experience with the Lii-500 & Lii-500s ?, is the 500s worth the extra 10 bucks?, or are there any other better budget options? ( it would also be used for charging AA & AAA Eneloops)

(currently using a 202, no complaints)

    • +2

I have the Lii-500. It's very similar to the 500s except that the 500s has:

      1. A better display (with touch buttons if that's your thing)
      2. Forward facing positive polarity.

The minimum charging current is 300mA for the Lii-500. It's increased to 500mA for the 500s, which is not that great for AAAs.

    • +1

Got 500s, display is awesome! Instant satisfation guaranteed

    • What is the technical name for AA & AAA Eneloops ? 18650, 26650, 10440 ?

  • -3

    What batteries do these charge?
E.g., does it do those little CR123A batteries?

    • It will charge AAA, AA, 83650, 14500 (AA size 4V Li-Ion).

      Not sure about CR123 though.

    • The supported battery types are listed right on the page… including 16340.

    • CR123A batts aren't rechargeable under any circumstances.

  • Got the Lii-202 which has served me well for at least 5 years, but I dropped it which broke some of the SMD LED's (still works but can't see all the LED's)

Was going to get the Vapcell S4 Plus, but the 12V adapter limits its portability, plus, its a bit overkill for what I need, and the price is a bit much.

Perfect timing and got the Lii-402. Now I can charge more cells, or use the 2A charge rate. Good enough for me.

  • I want to buy 3 x 18650 batteries, I'm not sure what's a good deal anymore. I bought some on ebay last year and they were really bad. I thought it was my device that had issues, turns out it was the batteries!

I had 2 sets of 18650, and both started getting worse after 9 months. So i thought it was the device.. after changing to an old powerbank that had 18650 batteries, bang, it was better than ever.

Anyone know of any deals out there? Or what's a good brand?

    • What device will you be using it for?

If you're after high drain 18650's.
I use 'Acebeam' in all my flashlights.

      • It's for a doorbell device.. thanks

        • +4

Since that's likely to be fairly low current I'd recommend the Panasonic-Sanyo NCR18650GA, great capacity and long life, some of mine are donkeys years old and still doing well…

I get mine from this Aussie store, I'm confident they're genuine, $8.49 each delivered if you order 2 or more:
          https://www.techaroundyou.com/Panasonic-Sanyo%20-NCR18650GA-…

    • If you know what you're doing … harvest an Aldi or Ozito tool battery. I put protection boards on all mine too. Not ideal given I don't have a spot welder or anything like that but for any loss of capacity from heat damage (have not noticed any testing with Lii-500) but far better than an unprotected cell.

      • I got one of these portable welders a little while back, was about $60 from AU warehouse at the time.

Actually works pretty well, but only rated to do up to 0.12mm strips.

  • Recently bought IKEA rechargeable batteries AA and AAA. Will this charger work with that batteries?

    • Certainly will

    • +1

Yep, IKEA Ladda are are NiMH, and compatible with this charger.

      • Thanks!

  • -5

my 2-cent view: poor quality, not highly recommonded

    • Why do you say that? I've used one of these for a while and have had the opposite experience.

    • This is a rock solid battery charger. I charged about 40 AA/AAA batteries this past week and it didnt even get hot.

    • rubbish. been using one for a couple of years +

      not one single issue yet

    • Looks like your review is overpriced.

  • Thanks, just bought one. Came down to $7.68 AUD for me. Must have automatically applied some additional coupon

  • Can this charge AAAA batteries?

  • Can someone comment on what this does different to say the run of the mill duracell charger like this

Have only recently bought some eneloops and wondered if it makes a difference to charge

    Cheers

    • +3

From the specs, the Duracell is for NiMH batteries. The Litto charges NiMH, Li-ion, Li-fe and Li-ion 3.85V), as well as variable sizes. It also has adjustable charge rate. It also can act as a power-bank when filled with batteries.

      • Crikey - just read the back of the charger 'CAUTION - only charge NiMH batteries = other types of batteries may burst causing injury etc etc'

        Didn't realise that - have ordered 1 ;)

EDIT - Sorry just realised the LADDA and Eneloops are Ni-MH… Oh well ordered anyway!!

  • Thanks adr8.

These are very good quality for a great price.

Still remember when Gearbest (rip) was loss sellling them for a few bucks?

    • Good ol Gearbest deals - still can't believe the rep sent me the google spreadsheet (updated daily) with all the promo codes, item links and promo start time/qty… those we're some fun times :)

    • Gearbest (rip)

      What happened to Gearbest?

  • Thanks OP. Amazing price for a fantastic charger.

  • Thanks OP - bought one.

I already have a 202 and find it a far better changer than the Panasonic “Smart and Quick” charger.

    Having 4 slots will help.

For those asking, yes it uses a USB micro socket. It has the option of charging at 1 amp or 0.5 amps for a slow steady charge. It looks like you can also use it as a battery pack for charging a phone or as a power source from 1.48v to 5v. And it does a range of Li-ion batteries too.

  • thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP. Good timing as Bing Lee just informed me that shipping from the half price Eneloop Smart Charger deal is 4-6 weeks away.

  • Are the $4 off new user coupons still working?

  • +1

Had bad experience with Liitokala charger. It overheated and died only after a few uses.
Replaced it Xtar and very happy with it.

  • Can this charge those C batteries?

    • Yes, though because of thickness only every 2nd slot will fit them. So only 2 x C at the once.
You can fit AA and smaller in the between slots.

  • does it charge 26650 and 21700?

    • Yes, but the 21700 are a super tight fit.

      • meaning it still fits? but it might break?

        • +1

          The 202 is 71mm
          The 402 is 73mm

They both fit, it's just tight on the 202.

18650 and 21700 are the future, so it's pretty important that you can fit in a 21700.

  • Thanks! Perfect timing, my toddler threw mine across the room and killed it.

  • What USB power supply/brick does it need?

    • Good question. Any issues using a "smart" phone charger that detects the current (eg the blitzwolf ones that we all have)? Or do we need to use a "dumb" switching power supply like what you'd get for a raspberry pi?

  • I bought this cheapo single charger which uses usb C. Anyone know of a double which uses C?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/154422095159

    • +2

      Astrolux VC04 from Banggood.
It has a microusb and usb c and lightning port as well.
      https://www.banggood.com/Astrolux-VC04-Micro-Type-C-2A-Quick…

So even if one port breaks it should still be usable.

Because i had a Nitecore UM2 which i liked but the microusb port seperated from the PCB after just a few uses.

      • +2

It's quite unusual for a USB charger to sport 3 USB inputs

      • hmm i already bought the one posted in this post, however the one you posted looks better..

      • well i just bought this one too, its much nicer with current voltage readout and amp selection. you get a free gift if you are a new user with banggood, so picked up enclosed safety googles (they go for like 12 bucks in bunnings), total i paid was 17.20 aud.
ill use the Liitokala as a backup if ever need be, or give to the family.

  • How do I select color?

Stuck trying to add to cart, keeps asking for missing info, but can’t see where I add the info!

    • +1

Click the little thumbnails in the 'color' section, that's where you choose 2 vs 4 and with/without EU plug. Agree it's not intuitive.

  • Is there a way to check if these are counterfeit? The Nitecore charges have a one use code on the box.

    • sent from official liitokala store so should be legit ?

    • It likely is legit. I've ordered one :)

  • Anyone recommend some C (25560) batteries for this?

Someone bought my son a Nerf gun and it uses 3 of the blighters! Already had to replace them once.

  • Straying a little, I'm looking for an 8 channel ni-mh/li-ion charger, min 1A for 8x ni-mh but li-ion 1A x 4 would be enough.
So far I've come across this MiBoxer C8 which seems ok in this review.

Anything else out there that is recommended?

    • Xtar VC8 charges 8 cells in 500mA, 4 cells in 1A, 2 cells in 2A and 1 cell in 3A.

  • +1

Thanks adr8, $5.56 AUD with new user coupon, thanks for sharing.

  • No 21700?

    • They both fit 21700, but on the 202 it's a bit tighter. Get the 402 if you are indifferent on what one to get.

  • Has anyone had their order shipped? I received an email about a seller message but I can't find it on the thrir site and the link requires me to login each time which breaks the direct link.

You have a message from a seller!

  • I ordered on Saturday but still not shipped for me.

    • same. very slow shipping for some reason..

      • +1

shipping details lodged but it appears the parcel hasn't left the shop or at least scanned at the chinese shippers

        • No tracking updates but arrived quickly for a parcel from China.

    • Mine has been shipped. Auspost sent me an SMS stating it's on the way.

  • +2

Mine got delivered yesterday, very fast shipping.

    • Mine would have been toi but I had it redirected to parcel locker.

  • Has anyone managed to get the USB out to work?
