been resisting but $55 is good enough…

Unless you really like golf, you're probably better off resisting.

This game is super bare bones and supremely average, definitely on the regret purchase pile.

      • +2

But I really like the party mode, I think bare bone is harsh opinion? :-)

        • +2

Yeah I tend to agree, I've finished the single player section, but it really just teaches you the game to end to end with a cool story.

It's not Links, but the course variety and the unique challenges each has makes it different, in a good way.

        • +2

Not for me but that's cool for you :)

Have been playing 3 player online with a couple of friends and have had some really good laughs. We have had a lot of fun and has been worth the money for me so far based on that alone. Nintendo games sell pretty well in the secondhand market too.The single player is terrible though.

eh i really just need a shitty 2 player game for the girlfriend, so i can stop pretending to lose in mario kart 8 dlx, and its shittiest battle mode options and lack of maps of all time..

        • For what its worth I absolutely rinse my GF in mario kart, smash etc. but we've spent a few hours with this and have had some real competitive matches, we both like it alot

      • +2

yep your right it is very bare bones/dry - ended up returning it to ebgames and got Mario Tennis instead as that's more enjoyable than this.

    Awful reviews

    • +2

      For good reason too, imo.

  • is it anywhere near as good as Mario Golf 64?

  • +2

I like this game… it's no Mario Tennis but it's pretty good.

    • +4

Oh no… I thought Mario tennis was overpriced and bareboned and already purchased Mario golf

      • Multiplayer Online Mario Tennis on the Switch was next level… only lasted a month but what a month! I suppose you might be right…

  • +2

I think i'll wait to get it for $20 on the 2nd hand market.

  • Is there any golf games on switch that let you use the accelerometer for the swing rather than buttons?

    • +1

      This one does I think

    • +1

Yes can confirm you can either use buttons or grip it in your hands to swing. Pretty hard to swing properly though..

      • Just tried it - not bad in swing mode.. Wanted it mainly for my kids - so works well enough for that :)

It's another half assed game. In terms off effort put in its similar to Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Mario 3D All Star etc.

Basically Nintendo accept bare minimum for these sorts of games.

Remember the gameboy Mario Tennis? It had a real career mode, which was so fun.

If you miss the Gameboy sports games, you very much may enjoy Golf Story. It's my favourite non-Zelda game of the past several years!

    • mario party was such a huge letdown. all they had to do was add like 3 or 4 more boards and it woould have been more worth it

  • I have been looking for something like the old 3d golf games (links, ms golf, leaderboard, etc) or even something like nes golf. Switch or android, any recommendations?

    • Golf Story? 2D pixel golf made by Aussie developers

  • This is a bare boned cash grab. If you have PS4/5 then get everybody's golf instead, best golf game!
