    2021 GPU prices ($2734)
    :-(

    • +1

I blames Elon spruikin Crypto …

      • +2

        I purchased Vega64 back in 2018 for $600 odd. I thought that was expensive…

        • +2

I paid a depressing $1020 for a 3070 on Black Friday. Same card is now $1700+. Should have bought ten.

      • +4

When I didn’t get laid last Friday I also blamed Elon

        • +2

Well if he stood you up then I can understand.

    • +9

GPU prices have been plummeting over the last few weeks around the world. From over 300% of MSRP down to 150% of MSRP just in a number of weeks….

      https://www.3dcenter.org/news/hardware-und-nachrichten-links…

      • +3

        Auto-translated worthwhile extracts:

"…this is the worst possible time to buy a graphics card. Because the (meanwhile clearly verifiable) tendency points to clearly lower graphics card prices in the next few weeks, with a similar pace, street prices at list price level could be in sight in 3-4 weeks."

"Since the retailers usually bought their cards from the distributors at an exaggerated price, the big game is now about who can get rid of the expensive stock goods in time to make a profit at all in the face of constantly falling sales prices."

        • +1

+1 for the translation mate ;) and exactly my point. Don't buy! unless you want to pay $2000 for a graphics card that's worth $1400 in a month or two and love feeling buyers remorse/supporting greed :)

        • +2

I can't wait to buy at MSRP.

  • +6

Reckon BPC are using better parts than Techfast…..but you get what you pay for……

    • +5

you also might get it before the end of July.

    • -1

Techfast have really screwed up too. Their posts are advertising Ships at end of June or July/August etc, when in reality there's a 14-21 business day delay ontop of that.

      • -2

        Call them techslow

        • Yeah you can add me to another one burned by Techslow.

          • +2

@Clear: If you are patient enough TechFast provide great deals.
I see value in TechFast as it eliminates process of doing everything yourself and it is cheaper than buying parts separately.
For me this saves money as well as time, and time is money.
Thoroughly gratified with TechFast/TechSlow and I'm sure you will feel the same way too.

            • @Handymancan: Just their shipping times are seriously misleading.

              • +1

@Clear: Ok neggers. They said shipping at end of June. It's now July and it's not shipped. That's called being misleading.

    • +1

I experience this 100%. Bought a pc from Techfast and straight out of the box the RTX3070 is defective (it takes like 3-4 weeks for communication, return postage etc to fix the issue). A few months later, their RAM sticks begin actings up and prevented me to run intense FPS games for long.

Kudos to their team for good communication and customer support though

      • My Techfast experience was a delay by a 2 weeks or so in the end (if I recall), then they sent a screen which had dead pixels, then a new one which had a flicker issue and a stand issue. In the end they upgraded me to an AOC screen, but never picked up the faulty ones. Overall, cheap PC that has done me well, communication on eBay was bad, Luke was far better here, but yeah, their Allied brand needed work when I got my 2080 rig back in 2019.

        • You're having a better experience than me. They're basically saying that the promised dispatch time on OzBargain is irrelevant and this other policy applies instead. I notice they've changed how they advertise dispatch times in the latest deals now.

  • needs moar x570 motherboard pls

    • +2

Unless you need the differences, B550 will do just fine for gaming.

  • +4

    Wow ozbargained…

    Edited
    V4 already…v2 was $2699 (16GB ram) and v3 was $2849 (32GB Ram) v4 now $2999(+changes)

    • +6

2849 increase I can swallow for 16g more ram (vengeance pro rgb)

But this 2999 for different case and aio? No…

  • +3

Personally I'd probably drop in the 5900x and get the motherboard upgrade to TUF B550M-PLUS and throw in the 2tb extra HDD

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/YVwNCz ($4557.70 with no build fee)

    For bpctech price of $3,567.00

  • +5

My Alienware R12 system was $2600 and cheaper than this. I cant believe how expensive everything still is.

    11th Gen Intel Core i7 11700KF (8-Core, 16MB Cache, 3.6GHz to 5GHz w/Intel Turbo Boost Max)
Lunar Light chassis with High-Performance CPU Liquid Cooling and 1000W Power Supply 1
    16GB Dual Channel DDR4 XMP at 3200MHz;
    512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (Boot) + 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage) 1
    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB GDDR6X 1

    • +3

you're lucky to get it. dell delayed delivery by an extra 5 months so i was forced to cancel

      • Yeah true. I am quite lucky with the order. counting my lucky stars

    • +12

and the dell is junk quality.
this uses branded parts that are compatible

      • +1

Working great for me so far.

      • I think you mean design, quality is fine

        • Yeah arent the GPUs from all the same factory anyway?

          • +5

@Turbonetics: The Dell GPU has only 2 fans and poor cooling which throttles regularly its one of the crappiest versions available selling on ebay for $2.1k used. Whereas this one is an EVGA 3 fan is one of the better available currently selling on ebay for $2.5k used with much better cooling and overclocks.

Also the alienware design is crap, poor cooling, case is huge but you can't even fit a 3 fan gpu into the case. Limited upgrades in the future.

this build and the alienware can't even be compared. I purchased the alienware for $2.6k as well and regret it hard.

            • @linkii: im using a techfast build and i regret not getting better branded parts, especially psu. thats why i ordered the alienware. also usb wifi is shit - better to have it built in

          • @Turbonetics: The GPU is, but the GPU is just one part of a graphics card (albeit the most important)

        • +1

          yes, agree. junk design.
also question effectiveness of the dell design to cool appropriately.

        • Yup, its hard to dispute that the worlds number third largest oem provider has shit quality.

      • +1

Yeah the overall reviews for the R12 are pretty bad, coming in at almost 14% 1 stars, complaints like blue screening, RAM speed issues, heat and start up issues. It's worth noting from of the reviews are from people who haven't got units yet. Conversely 60% of reviews are 5 star, but I'd probably expect better off a PC which target market is gamers.

        • +1

Fair enough. Ive only had it for 2 weeks. Works great.

Ive got it on for mining and gets me 95mhs. I had to do the GPU thermal repaste on the 3080.

          • @Turbonetics: I've got the bundled R12 on order (which meant the PC itself is around that 2600 mark). I'm waiting to hear back from Dell to hear if they are willing to compensate me something decent for the expected delays (they say tentative mid August, but my order still says November on website).

            • @Testeagle: i wouldnt put much faith in them. they outright lied to me, saying it was on track. then the next day, sudden 5 month delay. its all talk

            • @Testeagle: Yeah nice. I sold all the peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard and headset for cheap). It all sold within a couple of hours. My actual price of the desktop comes to $2584.

I was lucky and pulled some strings and managed to get my order expedited.

          • @Turbonetics: I'm the same with cooling mods on R11 - currently 100mhs with vram at 90 and gpu temp in mid 40s, when gaming CPU and GPU sit in 50 - 60 degree range so cools just fine post mods but agree they shouldn't really be necessary.

            • @blues99: The alienware is fine for what it is.

Cooler is okay for mATX, and definitely not a problem with prebuilt or add on AIO. Wont expect more on such a small case. In fact, I quiet like the R11 on how effortless to replace parts without screw.

Downside - proprietary parts. Pairing ram is a real bxtch.

My Ryzen 7 5800 runs idle at mid 20 and 50ish underload with a 120mm AIO. Room temp is app 18.

              • @[Deactivated]: Did u end up just replacing stock with corsair vengeance?

                • @blues99: Found some dude offloading his 16GB on ebay. See my post in the forum section for afterthoughts on taking the R11 apart.

              • @[Deactivated]: I thought all you needed was to match the mhz on the ram with a different brand it will work? Thats what I read but could be wrong.

                • @Turbonetics: Short answer is no.

Long answer is 1.25v vs 1.35v.

Longer answer is…. Someone else can explain. I ccb.

            • @blues99: Thats better than mine. Imat 94 degree using nicehash at medium settings getting 95-96mhs. When I try high settings it crashes.

              • @Turbonetics: Have you repasted the gpu and around where they stuck the stupid barcodes?

                • @blues99: Yeah ripped the 2 barcodes off and put the thermal paste all around there. was quite generous too.

                  What miner are you using?

                  • @Turbonetics: The next thing some people try is the thermal pad replacement but I haven't been game yet given happy enough with current performance. People seem to recommend the gelid 1.5 mm ultimate pads but they never seem to be in stock.

                    • @blues99: Yeah same, Im happy enough with it.

What miner program are you using at the moment?

Ive got one on NiceHash and a 1660s rig on Ethermine Asia.

            • @blues99: How high does your gpu fan spin up to when mining at 100mhs?
Also what sort of cooling mods have you done.

I have the same build, so far I have replaced the front fans. Haven't applied the thermal paste on the gpu or replaced the top fan yet and currently the gpu fans spins up to like 80% when mining at 80mhs undervolted.

              • @linkii: my average today is 3500 RPM for 89 degrees on vram.
I just have 2 ML120 Pros at front and 2 ML120Pros in push pull.
Also repasted CPU and GPU dies and did vram thermal paste.
Repasting the CPU and GPU definitely improved their thermals too.

              • @linkii: You definitely need to do the thermal repaste asap on the GPU. your GPU is probably running at 106degrees without it

    • Pfft Dell is shit though, this is way better. From personal experience, Dell is like one of the worst business to deal with. But I'm so thankful that they didn't fulfill my alienware order hehe

  • +3

also have to think a 360mm AIO is way overkill for a 5600X

    • +1

Also the 32GB RAM instead of 16GB for many and the 850 watts PSU instead of a 750.

      • +4

They are gouging to make more money on the spec.

Just avoid like others until a spec that makes sense comes back.

5600x with 360mm aio is just a waste of money. Same with the marginally faster SSD, you won't notice any difference but are paying more.

  • +1

just had a look GPU price on taobao.com in China. brand new 3080 lhr is as low as AUD$1600. i would wait.

    • +1

as long as it wasnt used for mining, but still id be cautious, you get what you pay for tbh, and shipped from China im not sure how warranty/guarantees would even apply, spending that kind of money without assurances is a gamble imho. but if you already have a working PC can play the waiting game for sure

      • +1

If it's LHR that means it would have been manufactured in May (i.e. a LHR card would be at most 2 months old).

The point about lack of warranty still does stand, as it's exceedingly expensive to ship a GPU back to CN if it's DOA or defect.

        • Is this deal using lhr or non lhr? How to check?

          • @[Deactivated]: You call the computer store…

But since mining video cards are in super high demand you should not expect to be able to buy a nonLHR card at this point in time. I would expect all the stock "in the wild" to be new LHR cards.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: last deal V3 was "EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA! And confirmed non-LHR!", brand new non-LHR pretty sought after lol

          • @[Deactivated]: seconding scimshaws suggestion to call, they didnt mention changing the brand of GFX from the last deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/636353 and they confirmed non-lhr here

        • agreed, much rather just pay for peace of mind with a brand new gfx card and being able to drive 20 mins to Glenny for issues that may arise over time, plus consumer protection here is heavily weighted to the customer with heavy recourse, cant say the same for CN

          • @ULT: I think the point is AU price would soon catch oversea price.

            • @Mandalorians: yeah i get you, its still a decent deal imho, and you'll get the item within the week [I called them and they said within 5 days], cant say the same for exports, techslow, etc. Ultimately it comes down to time horizon, if you need it right now its not a bad purchase by any stretch, but tech depreciates regardless so you can always play the long game if you're on a budget

      • I’m talking about brand new chinese stock with invoice and 4 years manufacture warranty. It is taobao not wish.com. You get same level protection as eBay gives you.

    • -1

Yep, I'm waiting for the Nvidia RTX 4090 TI. This bitch is the flagship. You can plug it into the wall socket via two power inlets, which is important, because it only consumes 1kW.

      Testing review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0frNP0qzxQc

I'm planning to use 32 of them for my MS Paint server.

  • How to tell if the gpu lhr or not?

    • nvidia has said it must say.
dont think this one is LHR

  • +5

So, this is just straight worse than the earlier $2849 deal?

    • +1

      I will say yes

  • Can we have a deal without an AIO? Would rather use air cooling

  • Not enough. I wait for more down.

  • The postal option says only covers $1500. If the item is lost or damaged, would I be able to get my full money back?

I think by consumer law, yes. But I'm not too sure if I want to go to too much trouble.

    • -3

There's always one guy pushing consumer law references before he's even ordered it who you just know is going to whinge about something if he orders.

      • +4

Is it not a legitimate question?

Value of purchase is $3000, lost or damaged insurance is only $1500
Would you be happy to lose $1500 due to someone else's mistake?

        • -4

          No it's a stupid question.

  • +1

An upgrade to an ATX MB would be amazing on this build.

    • Yep! Their choice of motherboard is stopping me from buying it

      • Decided that the ASUS is actually suitable. I can go without the larger one as I only really need dual NVMe.

  • -3

Wtf 3k? what a bloody ripoff!

    • -1

well better than techslow. they still use 16 GB, 480G HDD and 750 PSU LMAO

      • -1

        True TechSlow is even worse!!!!!

  • +1

You must be trolling with this subtle price increase every 6 hours… Gonna get your brand a bad rep real quick

  • +4

Lol what's next, V5 for $3200 with an RGB Keyboard and Mouse?

  • Just a reminder, 6800xt is around 1200 AUD in Chinese market and all in stock. Just wait and see.

  • +1

Meh, something tells me video cards will be flooding the market very soon.

I'll wait for the 40xx series a year and a half away. :D

  • Thanks OP. The 5800x upgrade was very tempting but 5600x is really all you need in most cases. At least it will run very cool.
