What a crappy deal. You drop $1500 for a phone animated by a promotion and then realise that you are 501st to claim.

    • Yeah super dicey that you have no visibility over how many are still available
But the promo launched today, so I would have thought you have a good chance if you're quick today

    • Did you say… 501st?

      https://gfycat.com/smugwhichchital

    • Can you return the phone if you are not amongst the first 500?

      • +1

Don't hold me to this, but after recently getting the X2 Pro instore at JB when the honoured a typo on this deal they make you sign an acknowledgement that you can't return it once open. So therefore if you keep the item sealed and are within 30 days and the other refund terms and conditions then it should be ok?

      • +1

As long as you don't open it you should be able to return the phone.

  • $1500 for Oppo gadgets!!

    • +3

      Better than Samsung imo

      • I have an Oppo Reno 5G. Biggest issues are:
        1. Bluetooth audio - Has intermittent disconnection issue, which is a big problem in meeting. Apparently I'm not the only one who experience this.
        2. Occasional lag - Despite having a Snapdragon 855, there will be occasional lag. Obviously it is a 2 generation old hardware now, but I surely expect better from Oppo.

Samsung on the other hand, never gave me any audio issue. Not sure about the lag though.

        • Ever heard of Samsung s20 ultra camera problems? Took them a year to fix that. Then they were only using exynos chips in Australia market until recent years. Unfortunately If u want a near perfect experience, Apple and it's closed ecosystem is the only way to go.

        • I've got one and don't have a problem with either. Bluetooth connection drops occasionally with the subaru though.

My bigger problem is some sms messages aren't received. Missed a covid test result because of this.

    nah man
in a few days/weeks, it wud come down to a special price comparable to Macca's fries

  • already running low, pretty sure the 500 is already gone.
    GL LOL

  • +2

Got a Oppo, ok but it's not a Samsung substitute

    • +6

It's better. I'm so sick of samsung. The new Apple

      • Absolutely sick of Samsung. Upgraded to a OP9 (US model, cost me $700) and it's great, it has everything I need and nothing I don't. Next phone will likely be an Oppo given that they're converging now anyway..

Samsung bothers me where it tries to cram in too many things into its software while taking out just as many things from hardware.

That being said, you won't see me ever paying 4 digits for a phone. That's ridiculous.

    • +2

Yeah I've spent a few months with one now and agree. X2 pro is a very nice build, but software not as polished as Samsung. Also Android Auto not working is a huge problem

      • I'm on the fence to both comments. I bought the S21+ for the .5 and I had to replace my previous pos with the X2 pro.. overall I think the S21+ was better bang for buck especially at $500 with the previous discounts listed. If I was to compare without discounts, I'd take my $750 (clearance @ JB without vouchers) X2 Pro over the $1000+ S21+. Mind you, the $1500 RRP of the X2 pro is a joke, along with the X3. Over priced. I hate the idea of paying >$1000 for a phone that will lose its value within 2 years. X3 neo seems okay but that's just on the 1k threshold.

Realistically I'd stick with Xiaomi but that had severe limitations and did not like AA.

TLDR: Oppo (X2 pro or X3 Non-pro models) is good value as an alternate option if priced <$1000

        • Yeah I'd be kicking and screaming if I had have paid $1500 for my X2 Pro

        • All phones depreciate its value within two years. That's how technology works.

          • @HandsomeMonkey: Not discounting the fact at all. Purely saying justifying more than $1000 for Oppo and Samsung is ludicrous with the deals we've seen. Yes we pay a price for technology but ultimately it's a never-ending cost increase for the case of superiority. Thank goodness ozbargain exists, for I would never have been able to pick up the S21+ and the X2 pro for the prices mentioned above.

            • @IamaCam: Ahh yeah.. well I previously bought Oppo Reno 10x Zoom for 500 and recently bought X3 Zoom for 350$ both phones are excellent for the price I paid for.

      • X3 pro user here, Android auto works perfectly for me. Phone is amazing what annoys me is how hard it is to get accessories like cases and screen protectors. Have had Samsung's and won't again, came from a pixel (which I loved as it just always did everything I asked of it… Except for the average battery)

      • Did you install Andriod Auto & Android Auto for phone screens (by google) ? I was wondering why the andriod Auto didnt work on wife's phone. Seems on these Oppos you need both apps from google play to make it work. Working fine now.

        • Gave it a crack. No luck

    • X2 Pro is great. The only disappointment for me is no HDR10 (or better) video recording.

  • -3

just a bad deal the normal price for find 3 pro is around 1000 aud and the watch worth about 200 aud.

    • +3

Not too sure your valuations stack up. I had a look on Price Hipster/Camel and the phone hasn't been below $1500 on JB/GG. $1,495 for Amazon
Meanwhile, the watch has been $400.
Charger listed at $99 on Oppo website, can't find a comparable 45w product to assess value
Case lets be conservative and say $20 (probably overpriced on their website vs one you'd actually buy on eBay).
So it's fairly legitimately $500 worth of gear - unless it's stuff you don't want
      *Didn't neg BTW

      • -1

You are right to some extent, but it's obvious overpriced for the rrp of this phone. The price I got is from Chinese online platform like Tao bao. Oppo always overpriced it's product outside China which hinder me to pull the trigger.

  • +2

I'm sure it's a good phone but I would never spend that much on a phone not made by Apple, Samsung or (until recently in AU) Sony. The brand power and resell value is just not there.

  • +4

What about purchasing from Telstra with paying outright? It is $300 off, and the bonus Watch is redeemable. Probably will lose the Charger and the Case, which might be worth $100? link to Telstra: https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/mobiles-on-a-plan/o…

    • Wow great spot. Listed as one of the permitted retailers in the T+Cs. Will add to the description

Participating Retailer means JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Retravision, Wireless1, Woolworths Mobile, Mobileciti, Telstra, Optus.

    • I've just bought from Telstra outright and it used the same link to redeem the same offer, so there is no missing out on the charger and the case ( they are both included in the same gift box as well as the watch).
Just submitted my claim today and hopefully it gets approved soon.

Also I checked with Telstra, there is no change of mind return for the phone though … With JB-Hifi you can return the phone if you didn't get the redemption as long as phone is sealed.

  • +1

Would definitely take the bullet and purhcase if Oppo isn't limiting the claim for the watch to first 500. I was a happy user of X2 Pro but honestly wouldn't pay $1500+ for it or the x3 Pro.

    • +1

I'm thinking of getting it. I called JbHiFi and they said as long as I don't open the phone I can return it (in case I'm not one of the 500) so I'm just gonna give it a go.

      • Good luck! I'm considering getting one from Telstra however it doesn't seem to be available to buy online without adding a plan… Will head to the store and find out later on. If no plan required I'd probably grab this deal. I was very impressed with the build of my old X2 Pro. I'm currently using a S20 FE 5G and although I like the system a bit better, the camera cannot compare to Oppo at all.

  • Just wondering for those who own this phone, with the retail phone at JBs, are they dual physical sims? nano + nano or nano + esim? Thanks.

    • +1

Just bought from JB yesterday. It's physical dual sims.

  • Managed to claim the gift box yesterday. Same day confirmation. And you have to opon to box to claim because you need screenshot your phone's IMEI.

  • Bought the phone from Telstra today but you can't buy it outright without having a telstra service. So I had to purchase for a data sim card at $45. I submitted the claim and got approval within 30mins

    • So did I but here's the strange bit : I didn't receive any email confirmation although my claim tracking number says that is has been approved (success with a green tick ) and that the " gift is being delivered " but they don't even have my delivery details ( there was no option to add a delivery address when submitting the claim, just a phone contact and email , of which I haven't been notified through either about it ).

I emailed them on their support promotions email and no reply.

      Anyone else having similar issues?

      • +1

Was your delivery address on your proof of purchase document by any chance?

        • Nope, just a standard receipt from JB hi-fi

      • +1

That's strange. Definitely i have provided my address details and i did get an email confirmation. Maybe wait for their support to reply.

        • Which section did you have the option to provide your delivery details and address ? There was no option when submitting the claim, just name, phone number, contact email as details, and imie number , picture of receipt and screen shot of imie number from the actual phone's about section as proof . Still no reply from their promotions team :/

          • @Legaldrugs: On the checkout page. Probably their support team don't work on the weekends, that's why they are not replying.

            • +1

@yayo321: Just thought I'd update , yes it worked . Apparently there is an issue with the auto generated email being sent to Hotmail accounts . They sent me a one time link which took me to the checkout page where I could enter my delivery details

              • +1

@Legaldrugs: Glad it got sorted :). I should be receiving the watch & accessories tomorrow or Friday
