Please note, as per previous comment, a credit check is likely when purchasing through Klarna:

We will not perform a credit check on you when:

  • Signing up to use Klarna.
  • Downloading the Klarna App.

We will perform a credit check when:

  • Purchasing with a ‘One time card’ for the first time.
  • At check out from a partnered merchant.
  • When making a new purchase, if your account has been inactive for more than 90 days.

Our third party credit checks are performed by Illion.

  • Also just got the email. Not sure I understand the point of this app

Edit: could be handy for creating a wishlist

    • They're competing against credit cards and their rewards programs.

Problem is the credit checks, wouldn’t touch this.

  • +4

Don't do it. You'll get hit with credit checks on every purchase. Not worth it at all. They say it's only a "soft check" but they actually show up under Enquiries with the dollar amount listed on it (yes even if it's only a $20 purchase).

    • Oh shoot is that the same with Afterpay?

      • +1

No Afterpay don’t do this. Although zip pay might when first creating your account

        • Good to know. Thanks.

        • Zip doesn’t do with every purchase like this one

I got only 1500 pts last month and now they increase it to 5000. Rip off!

    • +1

Should've waited, not worth it for $7.50
Arguable that it's worth it for $25

"We will perform a credit check when:"

I don't do credit checks for anything less than 70k points thanks.

    • +3

I don't get out of bed for less than 100k points

      • +3

You've only been out of bed 3 times then

  • Can Flybuy points be transferred to other people?

  • -2

When did they run out of business names? the best they could come up with is Klarna? neg just on that basis.

    • Klarna is the the largest BNPL company in the world with over 90 million users. It's Swedish. Not sure about the name, but it sounds a lot better than many other BNPL names. AfterPay clearly has the best name.

  • when they do/don't do credit checks, as per this comment: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/10362707/redir

  • How do I connect my flybuys account. Tried to find a way in the app but can’t see any option.

    • +1

use the same email address as your flybuys to sign up to klarna

      • To receive the 5000 flybuy points is any purchase eligible or is there a minimum amount to receive this reward?

        • +1

not really sure, from what i can work out you link your card once you become eligible to redeem such reward for flybuys points

          • @hm: It’s all a bit weird. I try to buy something via Amazon in the Klarna browser and try to change the debit card to the Klarna one time code but if I try it suddenly the Amazon page in the browser clears and says cart empty.

            • @Thrifty Dan: same, its all over the shop, what i did is use app to create one time card, then used pc browser to purchase using that card, that way can also use CR

              • +1

@hm: Yeah did that now. Just a purchase for 20$.

                • +1

@Thrifty Dan: yeah same, so i think now once this first payment goes through, that reward should unlock and then input flybuys number when claiming that reward,

Still agree though, not very user friendly

  • did first purchase and got my flybuy points by restarting app and linking flybuys. during check out website asked if it was ok to do a soft credit check i chose " no thanks" but it still processed my purchase with out asking me to enter my id details. has this happen to anyone else? i guess ill have to monitor my credit file to make sure.

    • how do you link your flybuys account?

      • +2

you need to activate offer in flybuys by adding a email address then you got to sign up to klarna using that same email. after first purchase you click on the rewards tab in the klarna app and see flybuys offer click to activate it follow prompts in app and enter your fb member number

  • Does anyone use their credit card as a payment option in Klarna? Would that be considered a cash advance?

    • +1

bankwest definitely treat it as a cash advance if you use it in klarna and zip pay

      • I pay Zip via my CBA CC and goes through normal purchase

    • +1

I did, it’s not. It’s same as afterpay and zippay

  • I signed up and joined rewards club. Then I made the first purchase from Kogan, paid the 2nd and 3rd installment early. but the 'Get Reward' button under flybuys offer is still greyed out. please help?

    • Was just about to comment the same thing. Me too.

    • +1

contact them to be told that it will take up to 48 hrs for claim to be appeared

      • Any luck? I'm still waiting and it's been more than 48 hours!

        • Contact support..I think they do something manually to activate the flybuys offer

  • I contacted support, they said they fixed it, but it's still greyed out.
    Buggy app.

    • II know this is old, but maybe it will help someone. If it's still not there, get back to support. My identical issue was raised to 2nd level who said they fixed it. I got a little further but still not fixed. 3rd level fixed it. It's probably not an app issue, but from their database.

  • So, just to double check, there is no minimum spend required?

  • is there any minimum spend?

Can i purchase online or instore from coles?

if purchase online from coles, just type URL and purchase?

  • is it like zip that any store accept eftpos can do the job?
