Email shows ‘up to 20%’, whatever that may mean.

Looking forward to them not honoring it

Hey OP, could you please change the title to "Up to 20% Cashback".
The email headline line was running out of space, had to shorten it a little.

    The deal is:
5% cashback on orders under $80
20% cashback on orders $80+ (Capped at $60)

    Cheers!

    • Can you please explain if Lotte Liquor is excluded from Cashback?

I just purchased some mix of Lotte Soju and local beer for exactly $80 and only tracked $4 / 5% in my cash back?

      • -1

The only exclusions are Champagne, Penfolds & Non-Alcoholic purchases.
If your order was exactly $80 on the dot, it won't be 20% as we don't pay cashback on GST.
So our system would recognise your order value as $72 (GST Excluded)

        Hope this makes sense.

  • Disappointing specials in Spirits this week.

Carlton draught is $59 a case befor discount lol
Yesterday $47 at FirstChoice befor discount

    • 90% of the time BWS will be more expensive than First Choice

  • I only buy from them when there's system glitches or price errors. Ridiculously expensive price even after cashback.

    $300 spend for $60 cap 🧢

    • +2

$330* you have to factor in GST, which we don't pay cashback on.
$300 would get you roughly $54 cashback ;)

        • +1

It may cancel cashback. I would suggest not using it on this order :)

Shopback finds ways to decline cashbacks. Happened to me last alcohol sale with them.

    • Agree. Constantly. 😡

    • Hey, if you could send me a DM regarding the issue I'd be happy to look into it for you.
      Cheers!

  • Just spent $80 exactly and it's tracked at $4.. does it not include GST?

    • Same here, spent exactly $80 for $4 cashback. @gotyourback

    • +1

If your order was exactly $80 on the dot, it won't be 20% as we don't pay cashback on GST

      • +1

This wasn't mentioned in the app.

    • -3

      Hey all,
As mentioned in this earlier comment, cashback is calculated exclusive of GST.
This is also highlighted on our pages.

      Hope that clarifies things.

      Have a good night!

      • +3

That's super misleading then… It literally says "Order Total $80 and Above" under "Cashback Amount". No where does it say the order total has to actually be minimum ~$88 to get the 20%. Feel scammed.
What you said here is NOT mentioned in the app.

        • +1

Yep we shouldn't have to read Ozbargain comments to find this out… I spent $80 at BWS so I would expect the cashback. Surely include the GST in the spend limit.

        • -1

I'm sorry but that's not correct.
If you go to BWS through our app and click "View Cashback Info" the notes highlight "Excludes taxes, fees or additional extras".
          Taxes = GST.

I'm sorry if you missed this.

This is standard across all cashback platforms.

          • @gotyourback: I would take that to mean the 20% cashback won't be paid out on the GST which is normal.

When you run promotions like "Spend $30 at out gift card portal receive X" we're not expected to spend $30.30.. so just a bit unusual it is in this case.

But that's fine. Perhaps just make it a little clearer on the cashback terms as you did in the Ozbargain comments here.

            • @kuwahshi: Thanks for this feedback!
I see what you mean, we're currently working on improving the clarity & readability of our T&Cs/Do's & Don'ts/etc. so I'll pass this info on to our team and ask if they can specify how GST & cashback works.

With regards to the gift card promos, since it's a ShopBack-owned product we have control over the minimum spend requirements.
So on a GC $30 min spend, we input a min. spend requirement of $27.27 (which is GST exclusive) so counts all $30 orders.

Unfortunately, when our partner brands have a minimum spend we have no control over how the min. spend is set up on their systems.
This is why we specify that cashback is calculated exclusive of GST.
It's a bit of a pain point but we're working on improving the messaging / understanding for our users, as that's something within our control.

I hope that clarifies it a little more.
If not, feel free to send me a DM asking any questions you have.

              Cheers!

Noticed this too in case anyone gets caught out?

"Purchases paid with gift cards / Woolworths Dollars are not eligible for cashback"

  • No tracking yet for me.

    • Hey Kegsta, could you send me a DM with your account email so I can take a look at it for you?
