  • Let me do the calculation for you..

buy 2 of the product to get 500 points

    $5.29 x 2 = $10.58

buy 10 to get 5000 points

    $5.29 x 10 = $52.90

    5000 points = $40 voucher

    $52.90 - $40 = $12.90 / 10 = $1.29 / box

    $1.29 for 1kg oats or oatbrits ??

EDIT: perhaps you may want to edit the title to be more descriptive, ie $1.29 for 1KG Uncle Toby Oats / Oatbrits or 5000 points flybuys etc,

    that's cheap … as elcheapo !!

    • According to the flybuys webpage:
      https://www.flybuys.com.au/flybuys/content/bonusoffer/?partiā€¦

      It says:
Buy any 2 Uncle Tobys Oatbrits or Oats 1kg in one transaction and collect 500 FlyBuys bonus points. See FlyBuys Shelf Ticket In-store for Terms and Conditions.
      From: September 1, 2008 to September 28, 2008

      So $5.29 x 2 = $10.58 and you get 500 points
So to get 5000 points you need to buy 10 x 2 packets = 20 packets, which costs $$105.80
And you get back 2 x $20 vouchers
So thats effectively about a 40% discount.

not sure how quickly I could eat 20 boxes of oatbrits! :)

  • yes that's right. thanks for the calculation
    i asked flybuys today
that's either 1 kg oats ($5.29 each) or 2 oatbrits (dunno the price)

    5.29$ x 10 = 52.90$
flybuys have offer 2500 point for voucher 20$
so 5000 points for $40 voucher

    calculation is exactly right, elcheapo
    52.90 - 40 = 12.90 (10 boxes) = $1.29 /box.

of course you have to figure out how to eat the 10 boxes though :) but i guess everyone will figure it out later. lol

  • I think you need to buy 2 of either oat brits 1kg or oats 1kg to get 500 points (virtually $4), essentially save $2 each 1kg pack.

  • I'm confused…

So 1 x 1KG of Oats will cost you $5.29 each

In order to get 500 points you buy two of them…thus $10.58 initial outlay for 500 points

So in order to get 5000 points one would have to buy 10 lots of 2 x 1KG Oats… thus a $105.80 initial outlay.

    I then qualify for a 2 x $20 vouchers, which brings initial outlay to $65.80 for 20 x 1KG of Oats… or approximately $3.29 per 1KG.

So are the oats $5.29 for 2 x 1KG or a single 1 x 1KG, as this will affect the calculations dramatically?

  • This promo is not showing up in my local stores catalog its code is….

    140_c-nsw-met-0409.pdf

So it maybe only certain states, areas or store types

Also why buy 10 when buying 5 will give same savings per pack - viz if 5 1Kg = 2500 points ie $20 back

  • I checked my local Coles these are $5.99. So its regional for the $5.29 price.

Also the instore promoi sticker for Flybuys gave the impression that you need to buy 2 of the 1kg Oatbrits or 2 of the Oats, or 1 of each.

So Kearnsey is right, it would be $3.29 per 1 KG. On Oatbrits that would be a saving but not as great as $1.29

  • I think the confusion is whether it's 2 pack or 1 pack to obtain 500 flybuys

i bought the Oat 1 kg at Coles Central (City) for $5.29

i had double checked with flybuys how i can obtain 500 flybuys point:

    that would be either:
    Scenario A
    2 x Oat Brits

    OR
    Scenario B
1 x 1kg Oat (So far, my price $5.29, in Melb CBD)

Confirmed that you need to buy only 1 of 1kg Oat, you should get 500 points

    back to calculation:
if you want to get cheapest oats
To obtain 5000 points, you need to buy 10 times (not 10 packs in 1 transaction, just in case)

    10 packs x 1 kg = $5.29 x 10 = $52.90
    5000 points => voucher 2 x $20 = $40
    total = $12.90 for 10 packs of 1 kg
so basically you are paying $1.29 / 1 pack of 1kg.

That scenario only works for 1kg oats (not scenario 2x oat brits)

anyway, you can also collect the flybuys points for 3 years and redeem something else, doesn't have to be 20$ voucher. just my 2c
