8GB of RAM is soldered and non-upgradeable:

"…the cheapest it has every been"

    Still every overpriced

But currently slightly less overpriced ;)

Not a bargain at all…..Why laptop manufacturers are still having 8GB model? Even phone has 12G or 16G RAM now.

Where's your example with similar other specs with 16gb at this price?

      • edit

        • The Lenovo you linked is much bigger and heavier (16" vs 13.3" and 1.9kg vs 1.3kg) and the ASUS here can flip and can work as a tablet with active pen support where as Lenovo can't do any of these things. They are devices made for very different purposes.

Very much an apple vs orange comparison you're trying to make here.

@IceCreamBandit: Yep, that's why I edit it. It wasn't the model I had in mind. Try this: https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/ideapad/flex-series/Ide…

More RAM, fits the flip, touchscreen, active pen support, etc. for much lower price. Yes it's slightly heavier at 1.5kg, but 0.2kg isn't a big deal IMO.

If you can compromise on 256GB SSD and US import (I did without any issue), then the following at <1000 is a good buy also. Fits all the other bills. I actually brought it for $800 at last sale and still running strong.

@CptnObvious: Ah yeah, that model has been very popular on ozbargain! Almost got one of those myself

Yeah I think that's a fair comparison. The only thing I'd say the Asus still has going for it is the OLED screen. In so many laptop deals here people get angry over low resolution or brightness laptop screens.

It's quite rare for a laptop (AFAIK) to have an OLED screen so I would suggest this is why there is a price premium over similar specced models. But now as soon as there is a bright screen on a laptop people are unhappy about the RAM or the price.

Maybe Asus needs to up it to 16gb and hand them out for free haha

  • They are just price matching jb here

  • Just advertising new discount/comparison website more so than a good deal

  • Sorry this is not a deal at all.

  • I think the accidentally put in in USD. Which is still a bit overpriced

  • Zenbook Flip UX462 14" ASUS factory refurbished was about $746 last week on eBay. Ryzen 5 3500, 3 years old CPU. Not sure if it was a better deal?

  • 8gb ram at $1500 … get out

It is criminal to have 8GB RAM,minimum should be 16GB

  • Still way over priced. But the battery tech in Zen books is usually far superior to most other laptops they compete with. The money is in the batteries these days the same if not more then the actual machine componentry. most zenbooks crack 12+ hours compared to 9-10. Some even beat surface pros. So they are worth a few bucks more but yeh not crazy more like they try for.

Price is very high bc of the OLED screen that everyone is ignoring, its just that most people dont need that on a laptop.
