  • This is just mass produced Chinese products cheaper on eBay and Aliexpress etc.

  • Bought a 2 pack of these off Amazon for less than $20 earlier in the year

    • You paid too much, I bought 4 for $25 on Amazon.

Welp, still better than ordering from Tomtop

$10 from Kmart everyday with larger 2000mAh battery

  • Bought a few of these in the past. Very average quality half died with 2 months. If you want these sort of lights get the Baseus ones on ebay, much better quality.

        4 for ~30

My only advice is keep it away from trees.

I've had them working reliably since April.

        • Yep, that's them. They are maybe slightly less bright, but the light is a nice clean white. I've tried a few solar lights and these are the best bang for buck and quality i think i've come across. They have a physical button on front the turn on/off also (i turn off if its windy outside as branches blowing set them off too much), and at night they have an idle blue LED that automatically activates as long as they are turned on. I've got 2 sets along our fence in backyard.

        • Link has changed to a monitor light

          • @ruddj: Weird- I grabbed the link from my order. At the time of posting it was correct but now has changed to the desktop light.

      • PM sent.

I've put a silicone seal around the top of the solar panel edges to increase the life of the lights. 6 out of the 8 lights are still in working order for about 4 years now.

      • Just found mine full of water… definitely want to go with your silicone idea

  • These are extremely poor quality and wouldn’t recommend them.

    • Not really. I ordered two from Aliexpress more than 2 years ago and mine are still working fine.

      • I have gone through over 30 of these type of solar lamps.. None lasted longer than 2 months. No idea why but some didn't even last a day.

Must be very hit and miss with these.

        • Almost all solar lights will need the batteries pulled out and charged at some stage. The cheaper ones will drain the lithium batteries too far and kill them.

The other issue is heat kills lithium, so these lights needing to be in direct sun isn't ideal. Best placement would be sun in the morning and afternoon, yet shade between 11 and 1.

The better solution has the solar panel seperate from the light body and battery.

P.S. I bought one of these from Kogan. Quite impressed with the light output, but haven't had it long enough to determine longevity.

          • @tunzafun001: Cool great write up hopefully some solar light manufacturers read this comment and gets some ideas.

Because yeah right now you would have to macgyver them a little bit or shop more to find more perfect designs of solar lights because as it stands they have a lot of holes in them design wise and etc.

          • @tunzafun001: *Update - The Kogan light died after the first serious rain (and it's under an eave, but low enough to allow the winter sun to still hit the solar panel).

As someone else said, put silicon around the solar panel.
