Man you bothered to insert all these specs but miss out on the CPU.

Copy pasted from JB Hi-Fi Website 😅

      Updated to include chipset.

    Talk time: 20 hours (2G) 28 hours

    Yeah, good one TCL

    • +3

I have this phone. I've never talked for 20hours in a day so can't verify but I can say that there's probably not more than 8 hours of ozbargain and reddit and YouTube and gps time. (Coming from a moto power it's a bit annoying. Still, otherwise decently happy).

      • +7

You'd struggle to talk at all on 2G :D

        • Depends where you are; not in AU, but plenty of other places.

8 hours of screen on time or just general usage over the day? If it's 8 hours screen on time, that's amazing for a phone. If it's the whole day including screen off, then it's pretty poor. But 4,500mAh isn't too small, idk.

Yeah look I don't know exactly. I have days I burn on the phone then other days I hardly look at it. But I do know when I'm in the car and using Waze I see the battery drop by maybe 15% on a 30min trip. And often at night on the couch I'll be looking at something and I get a 15% remaining alarm.

I'm only comparing to my old moto power so maybe I'm too fussy.

        • I have a TCL 10L and the battery is spectacular. I don't even have to charge every night

      • +2

Other than heavy processor usage, the screen simply being "on" is probably the biggest battery consumer on a mobile phone, so if you're talking, the screen is off, I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted a lot longer than surfing the web or watching youtube. Youtube especially cause it would draw a lot of data…

        • +1

Probably right. But who these days uses their phone mostly for talking? It's a bit of a less relevant metric now.

          • @afoveht: It's a phone. You use it to phone people. Is it really that hard to understand?

Just because you don't use that function, doesn't mean it shouldn't be mentioned as part of the specs.

Yes. Please explain a bit more.

    Got NFC and compass.

Man looks pretty good. And not super heavy 170 ish.

Hope my phone dies. Xiaomi a2

    Seems like no updates though..

I use two phones concurrently most days, one for txting/messaging and calling, other for things such as

internet browsing/OzBargain/apps and gps, and as my second phone I have just started using daily my A2.

two months ago. Lucky it got a ( maybe last ) security update today lol.

      • +1

Why not get a phone with dual SIM? I can't imagine it's fun to carry and charge two phones, but that's just my opinion.

        • Sounds like he did it for the battery life.

  • +3

Cannot easily find accessories for these

    • +2

Aliexpress has them. Its a bit of a wait though.

      • Concern would be getting some sort of screen protector, as it doesn't come with any. I'm sure cheap Ali expiress ones won't even fit on well

        • +2

Mine came with screen protector already fitted.

Looks good as a spare phone

  • Coming from a Galaxy S9+ is this an upgrade, downgrade or similar in specs?

  • How does this compare to the TCL Plex that went on sale for some time ago? Noticed that the only differences are in size, battery capacity and camera pixels.

    • +5

AMOLED screen, lighter, feeling more premium in hand as it has curve screen, Android 11

      • I see, it does look sleek and good just like the Plex but the Android 11 support cinches it. Thanks for the heads-up.

  • Is this the device that was being sold with the tv recently?

    • No, that's the 20 Pro.

  • Sorry for a stupid question can this phone connect to 5 ghz wifi band?

  • +2

Is this better than the Oppo A91 that was on sale last month?

  • Copy and pasting from a previous deal:

TCL has promised to commit to a two-monthly security update schedule for 2 years since the release of the device (so it's supported to at least mid-2022, considering it was released mid-2020). However, TCL has not commit to any major OS updates except for one iteration (so likely Android 11 will be its last).

  • Not worth the price for a SD 675

  • TCL mobile maybe has 0.1% users in the market

    • That's higher than I would expect, does that count the Acatel phones?

      • TCL only TV is DIY, others OEM

  • Its back up to 400 bucks today, my sis missed out on the deal, we thought they would still get close. But nope 359 best they could do

    • Yeah, the sale ended 7AM this morning.
