Use Credit Cards to BPAY Your Bills with $0 Fee @ Beem It

1771

The Beem It App now offers fee-free BPAY bill payment with credit cards.

Installed Beem it app long time ago while they have referral cash back but not lately

Recently downloaded the Sniip app due to the AMEX $30 cashback deal and found that the 1.5% credit card fee doesn't worth using it for regular bill pay purpose

Today opened the Beem it app and checked now the app accept Credit Cards (Visa / Master) which they initially doesn't

They also allow using Credit Cards to pay your bill with BPay without transaction fee and you probably still earn credit card rewards points of the spending

        • Yeah, even a crappy rewards card should give a return of more than 0.05%.

I've since transferred about 16k to shares, which is odd, since it seems to exceed that monthly limit

Thanks, it's good to know when the T&Cs aren't necessarily enforced :)

has anyone paid their personal tax bill using this? I'm planning to use it with my ANZ FF credit card

    • +2

Yes, works 100%. Received CC points too

      • +1

        Awesome to hear thank you

      • How could you tell if your transaction earnt point? With my ANZ FF CC (platinum) I see a monthly summary of points, but not an itemised transaction by transaction summary. Not even the statement displays it.

        • Register for access to ANZ Rewards.

          • +1

@Reveen: Thanks for the suggestion. That is only applicable for the ANZ Rewards branded cards, not the ANZ Qantas/FF cards - seperate products. I am a fan of the ANZ rewards platform, easy to see points, transaction by transaction. I just ended up ringing ANZ to run through some transactions and they confirmed that my test $10 Beemit transaction (to the ATO) had registered points.

    • So if you do this you do not incur the surcharge from the ATO?

  • Has anyone successfully used a Westpac card and earned points?

And to help others, I've used two Citibank-issued cards (Citi and Coles) successfully to earn points.

    • Yeah it looks like only Citibank issued cards work at the moment

    • How do you tell whether you received the points or not? I am using a Citibank credit card a lot so I can't really tell by looking at the point balance. Also neither the reward summary screen nor the statement tells which transaction earned which point.

  • Signed up with hopes to pay car rego without fees but rejected with error message "Biller doesn't accept this method of payment". Looks like will have to cop the payment surcharge paying through VicRoads website or BPay through debit account :(

  • My tax bill is over $5k, there's a limit of $2k per day, is it still possible to use Beem it to pay it somehow?? Thanks.

    • Just pay over a few days. I have done this before and it's fine.

  • Has anyone tried this Bpay with online betting websites (eg TAB and Sportsbet)? Can you deposit through Bpay with credit card without cash advance fees?

  • Anyone getting an 'Internal error" when trying to make a bpay today?

    • +1
      • Thanks mate!

    • I was having this issue with a Westpac Altitude. I had originally added the card to beem it using a virtual CC (and CVC) from the Westpac app. Payment only processed when I added the physical card details. I did have an ANZ card which wasn't working at all however…

      • Looks like this is what’s happening with me. Tried to add the digital card details before my card arrived and it doesn’t seem to like it.
Westpac locked my account also when trying to pay my rates

  • Adding another datapoint here - paid using my Citibank Rewards card to DEFT for a strata payment - no points. On transaction history in Citibank, comes up as "BEEM IT SYDNEY AU".

Paid with same cards to Service NSW and received points. On transaction history, comes up as "BEEM IT BEEM.COM.AU"

No idea why I didn't get points on the DEFT one - I've done the same with an ANZ FF card to DEFT and ANZ awarded the points.

    • How did you get your ANZ FF working? something special you had to do :)

Just tried both my ANZ FF which is a VISA and also Westpac FF which is a MC, both are not working. Getting error "this card is not accepted by the biller"
I am pretty Westpac card did work last yr so not sure if something has changed.

Anyone have any ideas, appreciate if you can share?

      • I used the Westpac Black FF to pay the ATP one week ago. What are you trying to pay?

        • +1

          Council rates

          • @b00tyman: Strange enough CBA card works but I really need to use my westpac card.

    • +1

I paid my Strata bill (also DEFT payments) using my Bankwest Qantas Mastercard and I can confirm that I got full points.

  • Has anyone had success with st george credit cards?

  • Has anyone had issues adding an ANZ FF Black Visa to beem it? It is coming up with a "There was a problem adding your card" error.
Confirming card is already activated and have made other transactions with it.

  • Has anyone added a Bendigo credit card? The two small amounts aren't being charged.

    • Was able to add it today since there's a new verification method.

  • Is there still a referral system for beemit? Can't see it on ozbargain.

    • It has probably been deactivated as there were no benefits to refer at that time

  • Anyone have luck with NAB credit cards paying government fees via BeemIt?

    • +1

Can confirm worked with paying ATO for student debt

    • +2

Yes for ATO for PAYE tax.

  • Anybody used the westpac altitude platinum lately to hit their minimum spend for the FF points?
    Thank you

  • Note: Beem It doesn't support non-Australian credit cards e.g. HSBC

  • Not been able to use my ANZ Platinum Card for strata payment. Anyone else been able to use it?

On the other hand CBA CC worked fine with the same biller.

  • +1

I'm having the same problem with ANZ CC, 'Internal server error' when trying to Bpay

Anyone able to get it to work?

    • +1

Had this happen with my NAB card. Messaged support and they applied a fix to my account.

We're currently experiencing issues in our backend which is preventing some users from making a payment.

    • Same issue here. I got this response from support

There's currently no ETA for when this issue will be resolved. We apologise for any inconveniences, and will let you know when the issue has been fixed.

    • +1

i had this issue yesterday, support told me to reinstall the latest app, and that has solved the problem for me now

    • I'm having same error paying council rates with Citibank CC. Previously worked with Coles cc (Citibank backed).

Tried on both iOS and Android phones with latest app.

      Ok when using debit card.

  • +1

Confirm the issue with BPay is now fixed. Just paid a moment ago with Credit card.

  • Just setup my Beem app with Citi CC and tried to pay council rate using BPay, clicked on "Verify your payment" and got "Internal Server Error". Tried paying again and when selecting card there's a message under the CC "Credit cards can't be used here". Any ideas on fixing this?

    • Messaged support, let's see what happens.

      • +1

Support responded on Monday morning with:
"We're currently experiencing issues which is preventing some users from making a BPAY payment.

We're working hard on fixing this and will be in touch once we have an update.

We do not have an ETA at this time so if you have overdue bills then you may need to find an alternate payment method."

  • Internal server error seems to be a recurring thing. I had it trying to pay a bill last week, emailed support and fixed it, and trying again today it's throwing the same error.

    • I have the same error no matter which card I used. Messaged support but yet to get a reply.

  • I've been getting Internal server errors with BPAY Payments using a cc, is it working for anyone else? This worked fine last month with the same card to the same recipients.

    • +1

Just did 2 payments this week with NAB cc.

      • +1

My ANZ Card was having issues but a Citi backed card I had worked

    • Yes, got the same last week while trying to pay strata fees. I contacted them and they fixed it the next day.

Today I wanted to pay council rates via bpay and instead of internal server error now I get "something went wrong".

Have contacted them again, let's see what they say.

  • Have tried 4 CC’s issued by different banks and only CBA worked. ANZ plat, STG plat, Citi Rewards all failed.

  • How convenient for this internal server error to be happpening so close to tax payment deadlines

    • Yep, I have been trying to pay my tax bill for the last week but it failed with Westpac CC and others so it's either ATO saying that they want commission or Beem It is failing again.

  • Attempted BPAY payment to a state government owned utility today using beem that has previously worked in August 2022, failed on a few different anz and citi credit cards. Is anyone at beem fixing these issues?

  • Tried paying BPay payments that I usually do with NAB cc but today it shows 'Something went wrong' and stating that the transaction has been declined and contract Beemit. Does anyone facing this issue?

    • Yes, getting same error here, I have contacted support lets see

      • I have also sent them a message. Hope they fix it soon.

        • Received this reply from Beem

“ Thanks for reaching out. We are currently experiencing issues which is preventing some users from making a BPAY payment.

We're working hard on fixing this and will be in touch once we have an update.

We do not have an ETA at this time so if you have bills that need to be paid urgently then you may need to find an alternate payment method.

          We apologise for any inconvenience.

          Kind regards,
          Beem”

          • @ujwols: Same here as well. Just received an update with exact statements.

          • +1

@ujwols: Got the exact same response a few weeks ago. Followed up a week later and got this:
"The team is currently working on it but it looks like it may take weeks to put a fix in place."

    • +2

Yes I am getting the same issue with Coles Mastercard (it was managed by Citibank and now it's part of NAB). So it looks like we are having issues with NAB as a whole.

  • +2

Just received an update from Beemit support saying that the issue has been resolved and I was able to make the Bpay payments now.

    • What card are you using?

    • Yeh, I too got the same update, but this still doesn’t work for me. Using Citibank credit card.

      • Still not working for ANZ FF and Westpac Altitude CC either..

        • +1

It finally worked for me. Had to uninstall and reinstall app

          • @ujwols: I’ve Citi CC too and tried your method of deleting and reinstalling the app but still doesn’t work.
Tried 5 different banks and barring one nothing else works

            Citi - Fail
            ANZ - Fail
            STG - Fail
            Macq - Fail
CBA - worked last month but I’ve closed the card since.

            • @maverick1: I even tried removing card and adding it in Beem it wallet, not sure if that made any difference..

      • +2

A new option coming in end of January:
        1. Pay BPAY bill from zip pay (no fee from 30th Jan)
        2. Pay zip back with credit card

        • +2

Can't wait! Beem is terrible, works and then 2 weeks later doesn't work.

  • Can anyone confirm if a Macquarie Black credit card can be added into Beem? Thanks

    • +2

No. BeemIt are blocking this card by the issuer ID because Macquarie don’t do EFTPOS. When I contacted BeemIt support, and explained it’s a Visa card because it’s credit and not debit, the only explanation I got is they are blocking Visa cards and I should try another bank that does debit cards.

Rather annoying, because no-where in the terms I could find they don’t accept credit cards. I don’t even use debit cards anymore, so I don’t have any to try. But it’s a free app and they seem to be using their discretion.

      • I have used Westpac and NAB credit cards. The latter in the last month.

  • The 10k limit seems inaccurate since i can go over it

  • Internal server errors yet again. These have been occurring for over a year now. How annoying to advertise a feature that seems to consistently break!

    • I got the same error using CBA cc :(

      • Fixed now, I had to contact support. My rough guess is the banks are changing something on the backend and Beem it need to keep fixing it inside the app.

I was using Virgin money card fwiw.

        • Thanks, I have also contacted support. Hopefully they fix this soon :)

          • @jl1007: Got the error just now and submitted a ticket.

        • Still not working as of today for me…. Never works

edit. I reinstalled the app and it works again now…

  • +2

Can confirm that ANZ FF Black still considers Beemit as normal purchases, classified as "Professional Services (Not Elsewhere Classified).

I remitted $10 to the ANZ as a test run through Bpay/Beemit and it worked fine. That 5k spend will get knocked off very easily.

Just remember 2k limit daily for bpay through beemit. if you have issues transferring 2k, just do $1999

    • I have anz frequent flyer black. What exactly are you doing to reach your 5k spend?

      • Ato, body corp fees, council rates, utilities

        • Do these Bpay transactions show differently on your anz card? If i simply transferred 2k from my credit card to my commbank account, would that work fine?

          • +1

@Misogi Kumagawa: What has this got to do with Commbank? You add your ANZ card to Beemit and then use Beemit's Bpay feature to pay the bill that you want and use the ANZ card that you linked.

            • @lilkid28: I think she means would a transfer qualify for the spend requirement on a new CC. I don't believe it would it has to be a purchase. Using Beemit is ideal as you do not need to spend on unwanted things but use it to pay bills.

              • @Yola: Yeah. When you transfer fund from one card to another it is a purchase. This is how everyone use to use beem it to meet the 5 transactions requirements for bonus interest. Has this changed?

@lilkid28 Whether your are using your Anz cc to bpay bills or using Anz cc to transfer funds to a debit card, i want to know if these transactions are exactly the same on the Anz cc.

            • @lilkid28: I've just added my ANZ FF black to beem and can confirm that a credit card cannot be used for transfers.

  • Has anyone tried paying rent through DEFT with the Kogan Black money card?

    • +2

I've paid DEFT rent with my Citibank credit card and got points. Citi administer Kogan cards too so it may be the same

      • Yeah it seems to have worked, cheers.

        • How can you tell if you received points for the transactions on the Kogan Credit Card?

          • @Ford351: You kind of just have to keep an eye on your rewards points balance in the app over time. Mine was easy to spot because I had ~2200 points and then it went up to ~3800 when my rent payment cleared.

            • +1

@alcadive: Thanks for the reply. It's annoying they don't have a better system in place. Cheers

  • Hi guys, has anyone tried using a credit card to put money on another credit card and still got points? Have just opened a suncorp card. Thanks

    • im pretty sure there are many replies above that says it wont work. You can't really pay credit with another credit in general. Certain bpay biller won't accept payment from credit cards, and credit cards' bpay codes are one of them.
