Use Credit Cards to BPAY Your Bills with $0 Fee @ Beem It

1771

The Beem It App now offers fee-free BPAY bill payment with credit cards.

Installed Beem it app long time ago while they have referral cash back but not lately

Recently downloaded the Sniip app due to the AMEX $30 cashback deal and found that the 1.5% credit card fee doesn't worth using it for regular bill pay purpose

Today opened the Beem it app and checked now the app accept Credit Cards (Visa / Master) which they initially doesn't

They also allow using Credit Cards to pay your bill with BPay without transaction fee and you probably still earn credit card rewards points of the spending

    • It won't let you, you can't pay a credit card with a credit card. It's not just beem, it's everywhere (for good reason)

  • Thanks so much - so I guess ato tax bills are the easiest way to do min spends?

  • Missed out on the referral a while ago, any ideas when they’ll have it again?

  • Can I add the coles mastercard to beem and bpay rates, rego etc via bpay beem with no credit card fee ?

  • Anyone know how to do BPAY if you got a Crypto.com card?

Has anyone used Westpac Altitude Platinum Qantas Credit Card to pay ATO through BPAY via BEEM? Did it count towards the $4k minimum spend for the bonus points? It says in the terms and conditions it doesn’t include BPAY but I’ve done this on other cards and it shows up as “Beem it spend” on the account. So does the bank even know what the Beem it transaction was for?

    • I have used the Westpac Black Qantas Credit Card over the last year at least. It shows up as Beem it and Beem.com.au. It certainly earns FF points but I cannot comment on whether it counts for minimum spend for the bonus points. Someone has stated that whatever spend qualifies for earning points would count.

  • For example if you have a $5,000 ATO bill that you can pay with Bpay.
    Can you do $2,000 + $2,000 + $1,000 over 3 days?

    • Yes. I have done this many times over even longer periods of time.

  • I've been using BeemIt to pay my Strata Bills/council rates for over 2 years. I use a Bankwest Card that gives me Qantas points.

When I received the new statement today, I realised that the BeemIt amount had been categorised as Withdrawals(Cash Advances & Balance Transfers).
I looked through my previous statements, and in those, it has always been categorised as a purchase.

What's more interesting was I wasn't charged a cash advance fee. And I got Qantas points for the transaction - Cash Adv type transactions do not usually get points.

Has anyone else noticed any changes?

When did you make the payment? I received my statement last week and all my BeemIt transactions were still categorised as purchase (as far a bill payment that I made two weeks ago). This is with a Bank of Melbourne card. I wonder if this is a bankwest or a BeemIt thing?

      • On 29/03. So probably a Bankwest thing then.

  • So I tried today with BeemIt + ANZ FF CC.

I can't BPAY with that combination to either State Revenue Office or ATO.

Based on the above posts, I assume it's an ANZ card thing as I see others are still able to do just that above?

When you say you can't BPAY ATO, did you get some sort of error from beemit, or did it say the biller does not support bpay through credit card?

There were multiple reports before that certain type of errors can be fixed by contacting BeemIt support.

ANZ card was working the last time I used it a couple of months ago. Still a possibility they might have change the rules now though.

      • It's saying Credit card cannot be used here. Example: https://imgur.com/a/AU71OMM
This is SRO but ATO is showing the same thing.
From the look of it I believe you can do via debit card but not credit card.

  • Hey guys - has anyone tried using this Beem it to pay for investments via vanguard using bpay? Wonder if this works to earn CC points + meet spend criteria for bonus points

  • Does anyone know if Westpac Credit Cards earn points on BeemIt BPAY spends? Ta

    • I saw a comment a few weeks back say Bank of Melb counts as a purchase after BPay'ing a bill, so I suspect Westpac will be ok (same brand!)

    • Yes I have done this with the black card many times.

Hey guys, another data point here. I got Citi Prestige and have paid water and council rates using Beemit. I can confirm that I got the points.
Citi has a weird way of showing points, combined by dates (of course this date is not the spent date, so doesn't align.) but separated by categories either 1 point or 2/3 points per dollar spent.
Therefore, I created an Excel spreadsheet days before the BPay payment occurred to confirm the points are from BPay payments. The Bpay payments got cleared from pending status this morning and I got points (1 per dollar) this afternoon.
You can only use a credit card for Beemit when the provider accepts credit payments. This can be checked at https://bpay.com.au/BillerLookupResults.

  • I have a big ATO bill due. Did two small test payments from CBA Platinum Mastercard. Both payments arrived, and earned points, with no surcharge involved. Presumably I can do larger payments up to 2K if I want to. Is there still a rolling 10K limit? or does that not apply? I've read conflicting information on this.

    • +2

Beemit state there are various limits. I have done $2k payments every day for several weeks. But cannot do more than $2k per day.

  • Hm tried a 2K payment this morning and getting "Internal server error". Doesn't engender confidence in the process sadly.

    • What CC are you using? I have had this, just try later. This can give you huge benefits for very little effort.

      • CBA Platinum Mastercard.

The bill isn't due until early June, if I just leave the funds in a high interest account I'll probably earn almost as much interest as I would in points which would perhaps convert to gift cards. Almost not worth doing. But I will give it another try later.

        • Just do it in early June and get both interest and points.

This happens all the time and they never seem to fully fix it. Just split up your payments into smaller amounts like 1k and it should work

      • +1

Also try deleting and re-installing the app - this worked for me after logging a ticket with their support.

  • +1

I both uninstalled/reinstalled, and also did transactions under 2K. This has worked. Also, you can do more than 2K a day (in separate sub 2K lots). I don't feel I'm doing anything wrong if the app lets me do it, though in reality it's a bug that should probably be fixed. Eg the credit card button is greyed out and it says "credit cards can't be used here" but it works anyway.

Catch is if you do the payments today, you have to wait until around 18:30hrs tomorrow to see if the cash arrives at the ATO in your my.gov account. Which is slightly annoying, but I guess it's the government.

    • Yes, I have done $6,000 in one day, several hours apart.

      • +3

I have a 20k bill to pay and did it all in one day in $1k batches.. didn't stop me at the 2k limit so I just kept going.. waiting for it to reflect on the ATO now.

  • So I did a test BPAY 10 dollars payment to ATO with St George cc and it worked, waited a few days to reflect on ATO account. But when I want to try to make $2000 payment and it showed “something went wrong please try again later”. Is the party over?

    • Try $1999. If that doesn't work, uninstall/reinstall the app, and try again.

  • So does using credit card for Beem BPAY payments treated as cash advances or does it treated as purchase and you can still earn points on them?

    • +2

For me it was treated as purchases and I've earnt points on them. Though this morning I am getting the same error as t0087669 above, so the party may indeed be over.

      • I guess the other alternative is doing Zip Pay BPAY payments on credit card, it is annoying though as it doesn't record the CRN and Biller code anymore for record keeping purposes and just records it as "ZipBills"

  • Button disappeared for anyone else?

    • Same.

      • It's gone…. Wth I made a Bpay payment just 2 days ago and I remember there was a new T&C I had to accept. This sucks

    • Same

    • Disappeared for me

    • Came here to verify. I guess with this many OzBargainers using this method Beem would rather take away the button

    • :(

  • Yeah the button is gone.

Though I have found that you can use bpay directly from Westpac and select your credit card to pay the bill. This should be the same with ANZ and St.george

I just did a test to pay ATO. Hopefully it still counts towards regular points.

If not then I am still happy with 55days interest free on paying bills with CC directly via the bank.

    • You won't get points on a Westpac credit card paying with BPay, but you will get the interest free period.

      • Any other way now that beemit bpay is gone?

        • ZipPay and Sniip are the only other ones. They aren't as good though, ZipPay has some hoops and Sniip has high fees.
