9900kf and 3070 with a 600w power supply seems to be a bit odd. At full load, they, the CPU and the GPU can draw ~600w by themself, and there are MB, ram, ssd etc. that also require power. Proceed with caution people.

Also the brand of the ram is unclear, from the image they can be hyper x ram.

idk about this new case and psu they're using, but i got the older kraken bifrost build from a month or two ago and it was XPG ram

the cpu and gpu can't draw anywhere near 600w by themselves. Where are you getting that info? This system probably draws 450w or so. A 600w power supply leaves plenty of margin.

      • If you OC the 9900K (like most people will if they have it on a 240mm aio) it can draw around 250w, and the 3070 can pull around 250-280w depending on clocks. So that's up to about 530w peak just from CPU+GPU.

That's enough headroom still, although its getting a little close for comfort. Still fine tho, especially since its not a no-name cheap PSU like a lot of these prebuilts.

Sorry for the miss-info people, I mistaken the power consumption of the 3070 with the 3080. So to update, the cpu+the graphics card draw can draw up to ~450 if there is no overclocking and up to ~520w peak if you are full on.

It’s 9th gen Processor. Upgrading to 11th gen would require motherboard with LGA 1200 socket. RTX 3070 is currently between $1400~$1500. Power supply is pretty low in case someone wants to use RTX 3080 and so on. Consider $1400 for GPU then left $700 + postage $50. Little extra can be spent on top of $750 for a 11th Gen CPU and motherboard.

    better to wait

If you need something now with a bit of graphics and CPU grunt this PC is not bad value given the market, but the CPU (while powerful) is not the latest available.

Benchmarks for the upcoming 12900k look pretty juicy (around +26% single and +11% multicore over R9 5950X).

11th gen claimed 19% and look where we are now.

True. I don't doubt there will be an improvement, but will have to wait for some credible benchmarks on relevant apps and games.

        • You would think if the process is on 10nm there will be some noticeable improvement. I just never believe the hype. Engineering and PR teams are never on the same page.

Rumour has it, GPU prices are dropping soon.
