Jetstar Credit Card $0 Annual Fee (First Year) Bonus 20,000 + 10,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer Points

720

Was looking for new card with ZERO annual fee promo and bonus QFF points and this appears be largest bonus points on offer with bonus $0 for first year.

mod - Note the deal talks about both a platinum credit card and a regular credit card. It's the platinum that gets the $0 annual fee for the first year

    • It states eligibility on the email, so I don't think its targetted:

To be eligible for this special offer and earn up to a bonus 30,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer Points(1) for the promotional period, you MUST be a new Jetstar MasterCard or a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard holder and opt in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards when you activate your card

Don't really understand what you guys talking about…
Jetstar homepage has the ads saying no annual fee for first year. It haS nothing to do with "special" email link

  • I checked another promotional email from a Jetmail recipient and the link to apply is different to this one http://goo.gl/RcdFb so I have a feeling each link can only be used once. Whether it's person specific though is another thing, so you could see if you know anyone who's signed up to Jetmail and get their email to sign up.

  • Anyone know how you opt in for the QFF points instead of the jetstar dollars? Didn't get asked at all during the sign up process.

    • Yeh u dont get asked. But it didnt also ask for the QFF membershit either. so it should be when u activate the card??

      • membershit

        Membership?

        • membership it is :)

      • I think you have to change it to QFF when you receive the card.

    • Just got my card and you tell them your QFF number when you activate the card on the phone.

      • Sweet. Thanks for that. I was wondering about how that worked.

  • How will you know if the first year is free or not? If it's going to cost $149 then I might not activate the card when it arrives.

Hope this is not true but the link below shows there is a $30 charge to opt into QFF.

    http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/creditcards/jetstar-rewards

So technically the 20k or 30k points are not for $0

I have applied for the card but will not activate it is there is a $30 charge

thats what i was saying earlier and i got a lot of neg on my previous comment.

If you are a Jetstar MasterCard or a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard holder you can opt in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards and earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points.*

^A $30 Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards annual fee applied to the Jetstar MasterCard.

  • There is just too many links on this discussion.

I found some links have no statement of No annual fee. Which one is the proper link to apply for this card?

    Thanks,

    • If you go to their home page, it actually says no annual fee. Click on apply and it get re-directed to the platinum card

      • THanks, will start the application from their main page

received my new platinum card in the mail yesterday after applying for it on 22 feb. just under a week. after application had to email them a recent payslip

I got mine today after applying on Feb 23.

Just in case there is any more confusion, I confirmed with them that the first year fee of $149 is waived and if I make a retail trasaction (any amount) before May 31, I get 20,000 bonus frequent flyer points and if I spend at least $5000 before May 31, I get another 10,000.

I'm only after the 20,000. Can anyone suggest a good 99 cent iPhone app? haha

Damn, I was rejected. Dont even know why. This platinum card must have a very strict criteria for approval!

    • hmm me too in the past, no reason of the rejection

    • There's a minimum credit limit for platinum, what did you request for. I wonder if that will have an impact on approval

      • my salary is enough to meet the minimum req of platinum, i guess i just put my other credit card balance is $0 :)

      • I got approved for $7200, though the minimum on the website for platinum says that it's $8000. win

      • hmmmm i remember now, i just requested for $5k only, as i don't want having higher credit limit, no wonder i got rejected

        • I don't think it was the $5k as this is the amount I applied for and it was approved.

  • yes, i got rejected and heard a lot of friends did too, they earn enough, strange credit criteria if you ask me!

    • Edit. Double post sorry.

    • I'm not sure on what their criteria is but I'm pretty their agenda is:
      1. The opportunity to make money from the customer.
      2. The customer's ability to pay back the debt.

I'm a low-mid income earner with a good credit record. So nothing special there. I did however apply to make a balance transfer of about $4000. So for them, this is an opportunity to make money as I earn enough to meet the minimum payments but not enough to pay off the debt within the 0% interest free period. (I actually will be paying off the debt in a few months though. Hehe)

That's just my guess anyway, but based on the above they would even reject high income earners as they have the ability to exploit the promotion by paying off any debt instantly.

I don't know if it will make a difference, but if anyone wants to apply, putting a balance transfer on the application may help. The debt on the other card doesn't even have to exist as they don't do the balance transfer until after the approval and at this point you can probably cancel the balance transfer.

  • Lol, they gave me a platinum mastercard with a $2000 credit limit…I asked for $6000 :S
