Foxtel + Sport $50 a Month 12 Month Contract Free Install Min Cost $600

120

Hey guys,

Just got this flyer in the mail for Foxtel. $50 a month for I'm guessing the most basic package + Sport which includes all AFL matches. $50 a month with a max cost of $600 in a year is worth it imo for the live AFL alone. It also has free installation. I couldn't find this promo on the Foxtel website so I guess just quote the deal when you call them.

Contact number is: 1300 760 579 as shown on the flyer.

The fine print on the page is: Min cost $600 on 12 month direct debit plan on Get Started+Sport with a standard STU(Standard Set-top unit - Thanks jdr). New subscribers and single standard metro installs only. Offer ends 16 March 2012. Cancel fee applies. ^Additional charges apply for Foxtel On Demand titles. Foxtel and some services not available to all homes. Foxtel marks are used…. blah blah blah copyright stuff.

  • How do you sign up for this $50/month offer? The Foxtel website doesn't list it.

EDIT: Nevermind. You said just quote the flyer.

  • I'm a Foxtel noob.
Would this include all NRL games and or rugby union super 15's?

    • Yes both.

  • it's a good start-up deal, although i'm paying $44 for the same package

    • How? Long term member? Bundle?

      • yes long term member.. and threatening to cancel when prices go up

      • yes long term member.. and threatening to cancel when prices go up

  • "with a standard STU(?)"

That would be referring to a standard set-top unit I assume.

    • Thanks. Ill update post reflecting that.

  • Just threw a Foxtel flyer in the bin, but if anyone's interested, you might be able to ask for…

No contract, free install but "Min cost: $282 [inc iQHD] on Platinum HD" (if you cancel in the first month).

It didn't mention minimum fees, or any monthly fees - one of the reasons I threw it in the bin without reading further.

  • Someone might want to confirm, but I believe if you have the Sports package you get access to all the Olympic coverage this year for free also?

Would make the deal even sweeter if that's your sort of thing.

    • I'm calling tonight and I'll be sure to ask.

  • ta for this

Just signed up with HD box $75 install for HD box then $70 per month

  • Try to sign up without a long contract, after a year we are now on $45 a month for Get Started and Sports, with an IQ box (so able to record), but not HD.

  • Am considering this (thanks OP). Is there a noticable difference in sport shown in Standard v High Definition? I've got a 50" HD TV and trying to work out whether to pay extra for HD Sport. I guess it depends on personal preference to an extent, but if watching SD Sport on a large screen, isn't a great experience, then I'll go for the HD package. Thanks in advance.

Its pretty much a must in these days of big TV's imho

      • So, is $70 per month the cheapest I'd be looking at for basic + Sport HD? Is that on a 12 month contract?

        • Yes, plus $150 upgrade fee to IQ2

        • Mine is but you might be able to get better. Just call & haggle then say your think about it, chances are you will get a call back from sales in a few days. If they call tell them its still to much, If they don't call & your happy with the prince then just call back.

    • Definitely a noticeable difference.
I had HD IQ box last year for most of the footy season and it was great. Since had the HD cancelled as bills are pilling up here but it's just a matter of how much it's worth to you. I think it saved us $15 a month to switch it off.

So after 12 months would your monthly cost go back to the standard pricing of $45 + $16?

  • Or you can get the xbox deal with no contract.

  • Any luck on getting IQ/HD thrown in?

  • All new Foxtel subscribers should also qualify for 30,000 velocity points by Virgin. I can't verify it, but thought it was worth mentioning as it is there on their website…

  • Just called and got it done. Upgraded to Standard IQ for an extra 10 bucks which is worth it if busy on weekends and cant watch the footy live. The salesman pushed for the Sports HD upgrade with the IQHD but it was like $100 a month so no deal.

So in the end $60 a month for standard +sports packs with standard IQ (can anyone confirm GB about of storage for this unit? Salesperson talked in "How many hours") with free install on 12 months and after that 12 months it goes to $71 which I will probably just haggle back down to the same price when the contract is up.

  • Or get yourself a TiVo series 1 box instead of the Standard IQ.
See the DIY site at http://www.oztivo.net

    • Already got TiVo but that can't record the games that arent on free-to-air.

      • A TiVo Series 1 takes a composite input and the community provides the guide data so the TiVo knows what is on & when.

This is not the currently available TiVo HD (Series 3) unit.

In my experience, Foxtel SD quality borders on unwatchable - it wasn't even in proper widescreen format. Has Foxtel improved on this or are their boxes still outputting via composite connection?

If they didn't have their heads up their asses on pricing they'd offer a $30/month sports only package in HD, I'd be all over that.

FYI I am a new customer currently on Get Started+Sport HD with IQHD for $58/month (12 month contract).

Sport HD currently includes the new Fox Footy (AFL) channel however the London Olympics will be an extra charge to subscribe.

    • That sounds like a reasonable deal. How did you go about negotiating it?

    • Yeah I want that as well. Can you PM me ur deal or address? Foxtel said they will match it for me if I can show proof that others have gotten this deal.

      • I too would like these details…any luck ktks?

        • Nah…no response from him. Can't even sent him a PM.

  • Hello,

I recommended this to a colleague who called last week. She was told that it open to limited areas, and not only that but limited houses in limited areas.

She lives in Metro Sydney and was told it wasn't avaialble, and had to go a fair bit of bartering to get the deal honoured.

    Just a heads up.
