I'm in the market for one of these. Has any had experience with refurbished apple pencils? Why would they be sent back?

    • +3 votes

Returns maybe? Some people get it and never actually use it?

      •

returns seems likely, considering how generous Apple's return policy is, especially over Christmas period.

Bought one last week, came in the original box sealed just like new. No difference at all.

        Apart from an odour?

        • +1 vote

          Sealed box. No odour.

      •

Don't know about Refurbished but their CPO items do have sealed box.

          To seal in the "freshness"

Bought one a few weeks ago. No issues at all. I previously bought Bacbook Pro 16 refurbished, no issues at all as well. Apple Refurbished is a no brainer.

Thank you been waiting on a decent deal on this

    $169 for a second hand stylus… wild!

    • +4 votes

Yea right its just a "stylus" /s

    •

      Cook be wildin'

  •

does normal every day stylus work on Apple devices or is this like the rest of Apples gear that only works with Apple products only?

    • +3 votes

Regular stylus work on iPads, but this product has much more additional functionality that is only available in Apple Pencils afaik

This refurb pencil 2 has been on the refurb store for months? Not really a deal is it

  •

Originally was throwing up between this and logic tech crayon but settled for a no name one from Amazon, sure it doesn’t have the pressures of sensitivity but it was enough to realise pen functionality just isn’t for me- other than marking up documents.

Note that the Apple pencil on the AOC Education portal is $189

That said, Apple refurbish is pretty much new anyways.

How can you be sure? Can you trust other people during this Covid-19 outbreak?

      •

That's why I got mine from the ed store haha

  • +3 votes

Just to save the hassle etc and worrying about where it was previously used, I'd just get it brand new - if you can get the education discount then its 189 (20 bucks more).

    • +1 vote

Apple refurbished is pretty much brand new. I've bought two products off the refurbished store and I could not distinguish them from brand new quality.

Who wants a stylus. You have to get em and put em away, and you lose em. Yuck. Nobody wants a stylus.

        woosh

      •

Just to spell it out- Steve Jobs made that comment in 2007.

    • +3 votes

He was talking about styluses/styli that are used to control the entire user interface of a device, not a tool for content creation; I don't why this is so hard to understand for some people…

    •

Although Jobs also said no-one would buy an iPad Mini unless they shipped with sandpaper so users could file their fingers down, seemingly ignoring or forgetting that the much smaller iPhone was already selling quite well.

  •

Very expensive though, I used one of those latitudepay deals of $50 off 150 spend to grab one… still hurts.

You are not using it correctly ;-)
