Found this notebook while for a good value laptop for a friend.

Hard to believe there are many more i5's around in 13.3 inch laptops for such a small price.
Battery life is also very good, 10 hours I think.

It says 10 hours battery life, with actual use I get around 5-7 hours on mine. Paid $900 for it a year ago, has got so cheap. Nice computer, the keyboard isn't great though if you plan on typing heaps.

    • Sounds like the same battery life as the E320, which would mean the E320 is a much better choice.

I've got the E320, my sister and a friend have this ASUS. Would take the ASUS anyday as its a lighter pickup and its got a better trackpad.

        • Weight difference is an inconsequential 50g. The E320 has a very useful trackpoint and is a fair bit cheaper when on sale. I'd expect the keyboard to be better as well. Matte screen too.

        • E320 trackpad is awful, and is heavy for a 13".
          But it comes in red…

Good laptop for uni — note the CPU is a previous generation Nehalem and is not a Sandy Bridge.

Nice alternative to the Lenovo E320.

  • Highly, Highly, Highly recommended. Using it for uni and its battery lasts a few days without charge with normal uni usage. Very fast for a cheap price. I also paid 900 for it a year ago and am very happy with it. Great pick at 500

Is the screen shiny or matt ?
considering this for my daughter as her Lenovo T420 was stolen .

    • shiny unfortunately, but i'm sure she would appreciate the lighter backpack! screen is not too bad in light if u crank up the brightness.

They posted this deal way back in December and didn't really catch on.
I bought one this month from them and quite happy for the price since i was purchasing for the form factor.
Couldn't find many 13.3Inch laptops around the $500 mark with good specs except for the lenovo and this one.

    • Lol and it already has more votes than last time.

      • after 2 month though it should below $450

  • seems to be sold out
