On catchconnect (optus) right now, my 365 day plan ends in 1 month and i cant wait to leave optus. Texts have not been sending reliably for about 2 months now, a source of constant headache. Have contacted optus with no response from them, and have already bought a boost sim to port to.

    • Damn thanks for the info. I have been on $30 a month pre-paid with Telstra but I'm not using anything on it and it's just a waste after they removed watching AFL on the go.

I would love to use the same Telstra towers but the price is just not worth it for the amount of use.

      • +15

Boost is the best man. Get onto it because reception is top notch.

        • Legend, thanks for the info. Will look into it.

          • +2

@lilchonk: Also check Woolworths mobile, they are on Telstra plus get. 10% off voucher every month if you hook it up to your rewards card.

        • +1

Not trying to bash on it. I was on Boost for a year. Consistently getting 1 to 2 bars of service for a year. Dunno why but the Telstra service is trash and using 4G. It's only good outdoors and I get 5 bars.

Also it's not my phone because now I've switched to voda Kogan and consistently getting full bars. I get get download speeds of 40mbps. It's not the best but it was far better than Telstra Boost.

I've also tried Optus before getting 3 bars on average which isn't bad. But I'm never going back to boost because the net drops out so often.

          • +1

@nobro25: Gotta agree. Of the last 3 carries I've tried ( Newcastle area), it goes Kogan > Catch > Boost.

And boost customer service while porting to them from Kogan was pretty poor too.

        • +1

Not to mention Boost is the only MVNO to be on the full Telstra (Retail) network, not just the wholesale network other Telstra MVNOs are on such as Aldi, Woolworth etc. So same coverage as other Telstra customers, no capped 4GX speed, and you get wifi calls and VoLTE which can be useful when reception is optimal!

      • +2

I got Optus no problem whatsoever.

    • +6

Are Boost a reliable solution? My wife wants to move from the expensive Telstra plan of 55pm, to somewhere else and I have Catch for my 11yo which has been fine.

      • +8

Boost is Telstra. Have been with them for years, so cheap.

      • +5

I'm on a prepaid plan with Boost and highly rate them. Great value and good service as under Telstra coverage

    • I've had issues with MMS but not SMS. I downloaded a third-party messaging app and it has resolved my issues.

    • Same issue with sms although it sends to have resolved. Will be looking at going back to boost one my plan expires. Any good deals out there ppl?

      • I love your name, reminds me of my Algebra classes.

    • Texts have not been sending reliably for about 2 months now, a source of constant headache.

I am having same issues with Amaysim and its so annoying - I won't touch Optus network for my main phone connection. It is absolutely not worth it

    • Agree.Have a yearly catch sim too. The worst recepetion i had in Sydney so far. Will never use it again

    • You don't live in South Yarra VIC do you?

  • No ability to receive SMS while overseas :(

    • +11

      Good luck getting overseas.

      • I already am, WFO (overseas)

        • +1

          drop shipper sim card ?

    • +1

If you are working from overseas why the heck would you be using roaming given the current situation? I can't think of any reason. Get a local SIM.

  • +3

Catchconnect is with Optus and Bad service to where i live. KOgan with Vodafone and Boost with Telstra is so much better.

  • +2

Reception issues. Constant drop outs. No thanks. Boost or Belong is better.

  • +1

When do you have to activate / redeem by? Just started a 3 month Kogan

    • Yes I loaded with 15% off from a recent previous Coles deal .

      • what is coles deal? thanks

    • Yes, just used a card made with Suncorp.

  • +1

this is only for new members.

I got the 120gb plan last year. I get decent reception in Melb metro area.
    I used unidays discount

    • Cool I'll figure out my beans login .

    • @BuyoTheCat can you stil get 10% off catch with Unidays? I can't see the offer any mo …

      • There is still a 10%off code from unidays
Do a search for “catch” in the top right search box

        • Hmmmm was just on there and on the catch page, there's the main section which previously had a code is now "read more" and the other 2 links are to Apple stuff and another link I didn't pay attention too …hmm … My Unidays membership is valid until Aug 2022 tho

  • +1

I never really understood "New services only.".

If I am already using Catch pre-paid, and I buy this sim card, can I transfer my existing phone number onto this sim card?

    • +5

transfer to telstra $2 sim, and port back

    • +4

New services only usually means you need to port out first

      • +1

Which they'd have to realise people will do. So why not just save everyone some hassle and allow people to request the deal?

  • emmm~~ Kogan's turn to bring a better deal… :)

    • Kogan is Vodafone though ewww

      • +2

i was on kogan for a year then this for the last year.
Catch is better than kogan for me

      • You'd be surprised how good Vodafone is now (well is here in SA).

Was a long time Optus user but got fed up with crap network quality, switched to Kogan (Voda) been there for >2 years and can not complain. Always great network quality (I live in a bad service area too - semi-rural),.

It sucks that it's Kogan, but hey, it is what it is..

        • +2

I concur, so far with my experience Kogan voda > Catch Optus > Boost Telstra. I live Within 15 km from Sydney CBD.

Had a year of Boost I'm fed up not being able to connect to the internet and 1 - 2 bars of service. I've had the same phone for 5 years now and ever switching to Kogan Voda I've gotten full bars consistently.

      • Lol @ the negs, Voda isn't near any good regionally which I very much frequent (not at the moment but certainly by August next year). It's fine if all you need is metropolitan coverage.

  • +1

    Network used in title thanks

    • +1

Here comes the "network" guy once again.

  • Good deal, except… it's Optus :(

    • optus is crap in WA.

      • optus is crap. in WA.

My parents have been with Catch Connect for 18 months ow. They are on the deals that auto recharge every three months. Both have had no issues. Just wish that maybe they had an app to check the data balance

    • +5

I have the catch connect app and it works just fine for checking data balance.

      • +1

Have they got an app now? Ok I'll let my Mum know. She has a iphone. Thanks for the info

        • I don't know if iphone have an app but android definitely does.

  • Update : Beans code does not work .
    But still firing :)

  • Can this be use on a mobile hotspot device eg TP-Link M7450?

  • Unbelievable strictly enforcing 1 per a/c off to next 1 .

  • Can confirm this works in my iPad if anyone's considering. It was the cheapest way for me to get data. I also have the Catch Connect app on my iPad to monitor data usage.

  • Damn, I have a catch plan expiring in 4 days! I assume as an existing customer that I can't buy this?

    • Port out then port in again.

    • mine in 8 days and contacted them would not give a d*mn. not even extra data or something. I bought coles am scare about the porting delay and network issue based on some comments. Surprisingly those comments happened to other provider too.. crossed my fingers.

  • I'm still on my 365day 65GB plan til December… how long we we have to activate it? And can I buy again if I'm already on the similar offer?

  • How do I order 2 of these and activate 2 of them?

    • Order with two different email addresses.

  • Can you buy now and activate after 6months? After the amaysim 6 renewals end. Don't really care if extra 25gb is gone by then.

    • Yes (you have 2 years)

      • Where did you find 2 years?

I found this in the terms section:

        Terms and conditions
You must activate your chosen prepaid plan on catchconnect.com.au within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on the promotion (whichever is earlier). Additionally, you must activate your Catch Connect SIM card within 24 months of purchase, otherwise the SIM card will be cancelled and any credit associated with it will be forfeited. Not transferable or redeemable for cash. You must be aged at least 18 years to purchase a prepaid service with Catch Connect.

        • You must activate within 24 months.

          • @fozzie: What does this line imply?
You must activate your chosen prepaid plan on catchconnect.com.au within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on the promotion (whichever is earlier)

            • +1

@emboon: The extra 25gb of data is the promotion, "60GB standard data allowance + 25GB bonus, 85GB total data. (Bonus data offer ends: 14/09/21)." So if you want the 25gb activate within 30 days or the 14/09/21, or activate within 2 years..

              • @manwithtwobrains: Spot on, yes you can activate within 2 years but you’ll get standard allowance if after 14/9

  • Hi, I’m currently on Catch 365 plan expiring in 02/2022. Can I buy this and activate as getting towards (miss the bonus data)?

    • Yes but you’d need to port out to a different provider and back in

      • Oh thanks , even this deal is not for a new customer?

        • +1

This deal is for new customer that’s why you’d need to port out and back in. I have seen better offers than this tbh (without bonus data I mean) so I would wait if I were you.

          • @fozzie: Curious what’s the “better offer” previously?

            • @cache: Some of the latitude pay. So if you go via catch you could use that plus 10% off unidays. The unidays you can still use currently if shipping via catch

  • +1

Just finishing up with Catch on a similar plan. No problems with them but I'm heading back over to Circles - $8 per month for 38gb per month is hard to beat

    • What network ?

      • Optus

    • Really? I can only see $18 per month with 8gb. Can you provide a link please. Found it - thanks.

    • +1

Thanks for heads up on that deal!

      • De nada :) Not sure why it didn't get more votes really, $8 for 38 is pretty unbeatable if you are okay with Optus network

        • It's $8 per month for 38GB over 12 months. That's $96 over the 12 months.

          • +1

@mun4: Yes of course, but it's also 456gb over 12 months, given it is 38gb a month.

            • @Birdseye: Did you see in that deal that the rep mentioned the bonus was only supposed to be on the 20gb plans? (But presumably still allowing it)

I've only just signed up for free month on Felix, but tempted to jump before it closes (if not already)

  • +1

It was $89 for 90GB just couple of months back, no deal

  • Sigh. Just bought the $95 30GB Aldi SIM and thought that was a bargain for a tablet. Great deal OP.

  • Thanks bot, bought one. Cashrewards tracked for $2.83

  • Can I transfer my existing mobile number to this provider?
