ffs I just paid $347 yesterday and it got deliveredd today!

    • Same! But that wasn't a klarna deal.

      • +34

The $14 is probably better than having credit checks

        • +1

          I agree!

    • Lol I spent the same amount last week to buy 3600

    • Damn. Paid $365 for the 5600x. Thought that was a good deal. Gonna be haunted by the $50 until I find a good deal on a graphics card 🤣

    • Where did you buy it from?

    • @nickvdk - where did you buy it for $347? Thanks

    • depends if you want it now or later. the dispatch takes 7 days apparently and delivery is prob another 4-7 days.

    • +13

The 5600G would have worse performance than the 5600X due to lower boost clocks and half the level 3 cache.

    • +3

The 5600G definitely does not have slightly better CPU performance than the 5600X… it definitely has slightly better GPU performance, because you'd be comparing having an intergrated GPU to not having one. on the other hand, with the 5600G you also lose PCIE 4.0 support for SSDs etc.

      • +2

erm how do u even compare GPU performance which is non-existent on a 5600x?

        • +2

Exactly. just giving wizko benefit of the doubt, if he meant GPU had slightly better performance… cause you wouldn't say that about the CPU component that has half the cache etc…

        • +2

I was comparing raw CPU performance. But I was incorrect, 5600X is actually faster than 5600G, my bad on that.

      • Hey so what games can you play with the 5600G at 1080p with no issues

        • out of my steam library of say 400 games, it could play 380/400 games at 1080p at various settings (recent titles low-med settings and some that have heavy graphics like cyberpunk only at maybe 30 FPS, but older ones anywhere between low-high), mostly know this as i run a GT 1030 which as similar performance.

    • +4

Edit: I am stupid, the 5600X is faster than 5600G. I misread some benchmarks lol.

      • That said, 5600G could be the only choice, if anyone is like me and only willing to pay the "1-2 year ago mid-range price of 300-400" for a midrange GPU eg. 2060/3060, of which they are no where near that price bracket anymore. meaning GT 1030 or 5600G for me and that's all I'll outlay for games at this stage.

  • Got one $331 great price :)

    • I ordered one but it doesn't say on klarna app anything about taking off an amount from last payment, is it same with you?

      • You should have received an email saying they've got the final payment covered.

  • Anyone experience any USB freezing with 5600X and B550? My USB keyboard sometimes just freezes and doesn’t register some keys for a few seconds and this keeps happening intermittently. Updated the BIOS to latest as well

    • My USB keyboard does same when playing Warzone only
      Running B450 mobo

    • Are you playing warzone

      • I play Valorant and Warzone and experienced this issue in both :(

        • I always thought it was a server issue not related to hardware (keyboard) or mobo (usb issue)

    • +3

Are you on the latest BIOS version for you motherboard? May fix the problem.

    • +2

This has been happening for years on Ryzen set ups. The fanboys just never tell you.

Try copying large files to USB media and having it cut out!! Super annoying.

      • Wait… this is an issue with Ryzen setups?

FFS. I thought i had dodgy USB ports on the case I have. Nice to know it's a common problem with these setups.

      • -3

I agree with you, Ryzen is just so glitchy it's why major organisations still use intel because they are the only ones that do actual qc for commercial deployments

      • it is kinda sad to have issues with USB after 25 years of introduction. Seems like my Pentium-MMX had better USB support then.

      • ive had none of those issues, copied files of 10GB+ to external drives, never had drops on my USB keyboard or mouse over hundreds to thousands of hours on FPS and rhythm games (both of which I would IMMEDIATELY notice if the mouse or keyboard dropped for even less than a second). is this really a common issue or am i just lucky
        running r5 5600x and b550 aorus elite

    • Try a USB 2.0 if you haven't already I've had lots of issues with my tomahawk b550 one USB hub was actually causing blue screens. Idk why but USB is super flakey. My stream deck was flickering on a 3.0 port had to use the 2.0 port. My USB mic buzzes on any of the mobo USB ports had to use a USB 3.0 expansion card.

    • Not the same but my mouse sometimes just disconnects when I'm afk for a bit. Only started happening when I upgraded to ryzen 3000. Could be the CPU or the motherboard bios.

    • Haven’t had USB disconnection problem since I have updated my m/b bios. I have a Ryzen3600 on Gigabyte B550. Bluetooth disconnection was also a problem which has been fixed with the bios update.

    • This is a pretty common issue which seems to affect most ryzen systems, particularly B550. Myself and others have fixed it by Disabling C-State in the bios power saving/control settings.

    • What motherboard are you using?

    • does this usb bug affect laptops as well? like on 5600H and chipset unkown at this stage.

I prefer the Ebay deal from yesterday because if you combined it with that coles $50 ebay gift card deal and coles gift card you could get it for about $300…

    • More like around $320 ($25 off with the gift cards).

Also you could just use those cards for other things you want/need, no rush as 3 years expiry.

      • I just made another flybuys account and bought 2 more Ebay GC with that account. So 7 $50 gift cards = $35 off and paid for those with coles GC at 3% off, came down to about $46 total discount. What's the max amount of ebay gift cards you can use per purchase?

        • Either 7 or 8 but I think the former, so yeah they would've covered it.

    • Which deal was this one? I must have missed it.

    • It's the Coles gift card deal still running?

  • worth upgrading from 7700k or 6700k?

      • Pretty sure and smash Intel on multi tasking, and single task is very similar with Intel slightly better

        • -6

Yep, but i'm 33, I don't need to be running Crysis 3 while photoshopping and mining bitcoin at the same time.

I just play games and muck around with browsing, so the 6600k is more than enough and actually performs better for single tasks, which is embarrassing from AMD's perspective imho.

        • +3

What, 7700k is not equal in single-core to a 5600x….

5600x is better in single and milti core tasks see gamers nexus

I don't know where you are getting your data from.

          • +5

            @ColdFusion:

I don't know where you are getting your data from

            Userbenchmark I would imagine lol

            • +2

              @snep: Hahahahaha

              The pinnacle of comparison websites.

Well, you see the base GHz of the 7700K is greater at 4.2GHz and therefore is better than the peasant 3.7 GHz 5600x.

              Larger numbers = Better

      • I got a 6600k before.
Can't even play youtube in the background during game. The fps would just drop so hard when it auto plays the next video.

    • Sorry to answer your question what do you want to do with your cpu? It really depends but if you want to have a greater chance of compatibility with Windows 11 then the short answer is yes. If you watch youtube and have word doccuments… no.

      • simple games like csgo and I normally have a lot of Chrome tabs opening and also do some programming

        • What GPU do you have also? If you don't have a crazy GPU like a 2060 or less then I think the difference will be negligible. In terms of Chrome tabs you will likely benefit more from ram.

To give you more information what is your GPU and how much ram do you have?

          • @ColdFusion: My ram is 32g 2400hz I believe and GPU is 1070.
It seems like changing to 5600x will benefit those fps games and daily use like browsing websites. I got those impressions from the review and comparison videos I watched.

            • +1

@zys0421: It will but it might not be as large as you think. Multitasking is definitely nicer I had an i7 7700 and upgraded to a 5600x it's nice you can have things running in the background. I have a 2080 and there isn't a large increase of frames in most games but open-world games are better. Also watching vids while playing is a lot better too. Frame times feel good too.

              • @ColdFusion: Thanks a lot! That's very informative. Watching vids while playing without frame loss is a good reason to upgrade.

  • Good price dunno about using Klarna though

    • +1

It is just another afterpay, with a roughly similar valuation. It is hardly a small company, one of the largest BNPL in Europe and backed by CBA.

I get not wanting to use BNPL providers generally or not wanting another credit check though, if that is your concern?

  • Sweet … I missed out on the offer last night and just purchased this.

Win win for me cause i'm not concerned about this being a credit risk to my credit. I actually just got my home refinance approved today (talk about timing) but fundamentally I can show to the credit analyst that this was a deal and I wasn't using Klarna because I don't have the money.

    Thanks OP

    • +1

So a 20% discount is enough for you to purchase a new toy. No wonder these BNPL providers are soaking up market share.

      • Well I was after one anyway … and as I said I missed out on the deal last night.

Had nothing to do with being BNPL … just right place right time

  • Will this run woth the $69 b450 from the other day?

    • MSI mortar max? Yes. Wait, thought that one was $79?

      • +1

It was $67.15 with eBay plus offer yesterday.

        • Thank you all..

  • -5

Intel platforms have much better stability and less annoying bugs than AMD system. That is why in most mission critical use cases people / businesses use the Intel platform. If you want a super stable system, go Intel, if you can tinker and handle some bugs here and there, AMD is good as performance per watt is greater.

    • Number of known exploits:
      Intel: >10
      AMD: <5

      10 > 5 ∴ Intel > AMD

    • I am a fan of intel, always have been but ARM m1 are kicking at one shin of intel consumer products and AMD Ryzen are kicking them in the other. I’ve not read anything about them being buggy.

This is the first series Im really thinking I might give AMD a go.

  • Managed to get my hands on this cpu late last year, pretty happy with it. The bundled cooler though is quite bad though. Monitor your temps and consider getting a decent cooler (initially was planning on the scythe ninja, but ended up on a coolermaster aio as due to my case i wanted to push the heat towards the top of the case rather than lingering around the cpu area where it would add to the temps being generated from my gpu)

  • Can someone please explain how to get this deal.
    Would like to get 1

    • +3

Check the original post. In summary make the payment via Klarna. Klarna will cover the fourth installment (1/4 = 25%) capped at $100 maximum across all transactions.

      • What does capped mean? Will it be actually $100.00. Sorry just tryting to understand the add.

        • +3

The maximum amount ($100) that Klarna will waive from the last instalment for Kogan transactions.

  • The wording of Klarna bit fishy? Pay up to $100 off your last installment? Seems that can be misleading? So say they will only pay $40.00 off your last installment, they have already paid up to. Anyone had experience with them before?

    • +1

The fourth installment is waived. If the fourth installment is more than $100, only $100 of that will be waived. Nothing fishy or misleading in my opinion.

      • thanks, just don't have any experience with that app.

  • I ordered one but it doesn't say on klarna app anything about taking off an amount from last payment, is this normal or what

    • I just had a chat with Klarna. They confirmed the $100 will be waived the 4th payment as I met the promotional T&Cs.
They also mentioned there is a slight delay of confirmation email though.
Must have been swarmed with ozbargainers making multiple purchases.

A great CPU for people who predominantly don't use massively multithreaded applications. For single or mildly multithreaded (eg most games, Photoshop, audio editing) it is excellent. I had no trouble overclocking it to 4.7 KHz and lowering the voltage to 1.26 (without manual overclock it it boost around 3 cores to ~4.3 GHz when running a multithreaded application like Cinema4D benchmark.)

My 4 year old computer recently died; initially I was going to stick with Intel but after seeing a Cpu comparison where the AMD had better performance per core, I knew I needed to give Intel the boot this time around.

  • Made in China or Malaysia?

  • is 5000 series the last of the am4 cpu's? are amd planning to be any more?

    • I believe so. The next gen won't be supported by any current MOBO.

    • What's a good sub $150 motherboard that people recommend for this low-mid end CPU?

    • yes AMD has pretty much made clear 5000 series will be the last AM4.
though there's some rumor ongoing of 5000 refresh with V-cache will be released before end of the year.

      • cool ill wait for the refresh then 🙄

  • Pretty good price, my ryzen 7 3700x has been going great for over a year now and owes me $403. Apparently the 5600x are the go now (new generation and sounds like similar slightly better performance and bang for buck, but not worth upgrading if you already have a 3700x. The 3700x is a bit better for productivity with the extra cores).

That b450m mortar max has been going great too, handy you can install latest gen CPUs (but knew this at the time due to the max name).

PS what's with all the klana posts all of a sudden, must have a promotion to cover fourth installment (good for the discount but most likely rope people in)

  • My 5600x arrived today (ordered on the 12th), kogan website still says order is processing so don't believe what the website tells you.
Shipping label says it was sent by Ingram Micro so looks like JW are just drop shipping these direct from the supplier.
None of that is a big deal, just an FYI.
