What Car Do You Have?

Let’s see what the people of ozbargain drive. Is the cash people are saving off this website enough for some high end cars? Probably not, but let’s hear it anyway. (No I don’t drive).

Comments

      • I got a 2010 model. I love the effort that's gone into the ergonomics of the car when compared with other cars that I've driven. Such a zippy car too, love it.

    • Same for me 2011 Mondeo Titanium. Turbo Deisel. If it wasn't for the faulty gearbox I would keep this car for a long time, but waiting for it to die at this point. The features of this car were way ahead of its time, which is the main reason why I chose this car. Too bad the Ford Class action for the Powershift did not cover the Mondeo and only the Focus and Festiva when they have the same issues.

      AMG A200. LOL OK.

-.- this guy basically compiled a list of cars asked about/owned by clowns on ozb…

I wonder where is our high yield bmw Westpac banker.

          Yeah, lol.

There used to be a guy around here who claimed he had a C200 Sports. It was hilarious. He even paid over RRP for it.

2017 WRX which sits in the garage six days out of seven… still only 16k on the clock. Not doing it any good, I know.

    • Same here. My WRX is lucky to go around the block once a week at the moment. Also only have about 16k on the clock. I still love it. Small world eh?

    Holden VE Calais LY7
I used to ride motorbikes in tandem with a ‘93 Toyota Hiace now I don’t (Honda CBR125R and 1100XX)

I want to get a used $10K Euro car next to replace the high km Calais. DIY the new headers exhaust, handling and tune (maybe crackle tune, or cammed).

    • -7

Sadly the ve loses value everyday

    • Yeah, I used to ride bikes (thunder ace, b-king), but current ride is a 20 year old $10k Euro.

It satisfies the tinkering urge, has a nice note, and looks /feels cool to roll around in.

      Ain't no bike though :-(

@Willco88: The A45 is not cheap too.

Besides, my list is probably too mundane… other friends got their own preferences, and more exotic. One has the lot - R32, 33 and 34… will be a matter of time that the R35 is added.

@Willco88: Son… one day… me too… NSX R and GTR35 are on the very top of my wanted list… can only afford the 1:16 version for now.

Emira might be added to the collection. If it stays in the low $100k mark as rumours online.

                • @[Deactivated]: How can you even enjoy each car

                  • @Willco88: It's like collecting watches…

                    • @[Deactivated]: Agree - would add that watches are easier to maintain and have less upkeep costs (parking, maintenance, rego etc).

                • @[Deactivated]: I reckon even of Emira goes a bit over say 120k it will still be a catch

                  • @day: Supercharged 2GR, with good old 6 speed manual! The last ICE Lotus will ever make.

    • Is the logo in your profile image, the brand of your wife's rouabout? That would have been the most popular car on OzBargain.

      • It's a 50:50 split between Toyota and Tesla on ozb.

The Toyota logo is to pay tribute to the IS350. Had it not for the Toyota heritage, doubt I would have bought the car.

      • +1

I paid 121k brand new in May last year. By August they were back around 130-140k. I love it. I had an M4C previously and needed the space, I haven't looked back since.

        • Yep, great price, you got it near the bottom of the market. Totally worth the money. Faster than an X5M, and barely any smaller.

          • @[Deactivated]: Except not the new X5M right? thought that thing was like 440kw or something bananas.

            • @Pelicannn: Yep, and slower. The I6 in the X3M is underrated. Puts out way more than they let on.

              • @[Deactivated]: Well, there you go… certainly feels faster than my M4C that's for sure which is absolutely ludicrous.

                • @Pelicannn: IT is faster than the old M4.

                  • @[Deactivated]: To 100, you're correct, but I am still yet to launch control it haha.

                    • @Pelicannn: Forget about BMW launch control, it's a bad joke.

                      • @[Deactivated]: :( Worked pretty good in the M4C

                        • @Pelicannn: I think the stop watch would disagree with you. Launch control where you have to turn traction control off makes zero sense. BMW knows how to make a great chassis, powerful engines, but their electronics aren't amazing. My mum had a 2020 X3, and it would slam on the brakes when you reversed it out of the driveway, because the slight slope fooled the reverse collision avoidance into thinking the road was a solid object. Terrible calibration. Had to turn it off. And the BMW version of autonomous driving was terrible. It didn't even warn you properly when the autosteer disengaged.

                          • @[Deactivated]: Haha look, I dont know it felt faster either way.

My mum had a 2020 X3, and it would slam on the brakes when you reversed it out of the driveway

I too have had that happen… got stuck on a friend's driveway and spent 10 minutes trying to turn around on the driveway to face down the hill… i didn't even think of turning it off.

Didn't bother with this convo much last round, and not bothered this time either. 😉

Not sure why you believe any of the above is BS, but yep, sure… AMG A, C, 4X, 6X, whatever…
We don't know each other, and not intending to bother entertaining it any further.

I'm guessing you were someone that drove a Holden or Ford and changed the badges to HSV or FPV. Perhaps you would debate an FPV or HSV is not an FPV/HSV, but rather a Ford or Holden… (BTW - those are statements… )

I'll let you get back to your commentary over at redeit!

            Sleep well Burnertoasty… zzzzzz…
            😚

edit: question for you, regardless of any form of sub $200k car, for those that work hard and decide to buy a nice car, why is it you feel it's BS?
It's not like anyone is claiming to have a garage full of supercars of the likes, or a yacht with a helipad on the ar5e end, with another boat inside of the yacht… (no Greg Norman!)
It's not that hard for most that have a career and have been working for a while, to find ways to come up with funds. It's also funny that you again focus on the '21 plated car and missed the comment about the POS banger… anyways, time to sleep for me!

Keep trolling Burnertoasty. The internet needs more commentary from those like you on forums, keeps things interesting.

I saw a holden with a chevvy badge. car looks like a g8.

              • @Zachary: hhahaha a- yep!
I still remember the BA/BF series FPV's. I had a BFII RSPEC. The thing had a mix of badges. Some logos were FPV, others Ford. But it was 100% real! lol… Man, I miss that car… Wish I'd not sold it! Spent most of it's time, yes, "it's time" (not mine - lol) going sideways!

But it was 100% real! lol…

Sure it was….. 😜 The previous owner probably thought it would be funny to up spec their XR8 or XR6 Turbo to their FPV GT counterparts…. and then sell it to you after having his fun with it. Or maybe they've modded the car to the point that it may as well be badged as such with so many mods and power under the hood…

                  Something like this… https://youtu.be/vlH_sZ6LhEE

For a car doing donuts and skids, I'm surprise they still look pristine with no battle scars…. I would expect at least a dent here or there or a scratch for hitting something or blowing out the tires…

                  • @Zachary: ha ha - Mate, picked that bad boy up brand new. Sold it to some guy in Melb. Wish I still owned it. Found the cert a few months ago, never did give it to the new owner, but that's now in storage.
The BA/BF's and the likes have Ford badges on the front, rear, steering wheel etc. and FPV on other bits and pieces, like being stitched into the seats, on the ICC and the likes. I miss that toy so much!

Hero shot FPV used for the RSpec release: https://imgur.com/qOWRKdO
Had mine in black (silhouette). Ford badge on the grill buddy!

Re. YT - who knows, the car park was pretty big… Don't know anyone that was in the clip…

                    • @mickyb80: Oh brand new? Nice… Yes it's interesting it didn't replace all Ford badges with FPV…

                      • @Zachary: Yeah, nar - the BA and BF's (inc. BFII and RSpecs which were the final 300 built in the B range - I had one of those) all had mixed badges. The next series FG had all FOV badging.
                        So miss that car!

                        • @mickyb80: Why dont you call the guy you sold it too and ask to buy it back since you appear to be craving for it? Actually why did you even sell it off in the first place if you miss it??

                          • @Zachary: Hey ya,

Been trying to dig up his number in old emails and can't find any contact details - not even the emails. So long ago now!

I suspect he may have written it off. We were in contact for a while after the sale, then one day he called and said he almost binned it. Think I heard from him once after. He was also talking about putting it away for his kids to inherit later down the track with the expectation that it would increase in value.

Sold - as had nowhere to store it as a new car was on its way. Offered it up to the family as a weekend drive just to keep things moving and while everyone was happy to take it, no one wanted to accept any responsibility to keep it clear or covered (would have been interstate).

In the end, all just got too hard, so let it got for very little money and balanced it out that year with other tax planning.

In hindsight, not my smartest move… But I was 29 going on 30 and wanted to buy a Merc! (shame on me, I know)…

                            That's the story! :(

                            • @mickyb80:

HAhahaha, must have crashed it somewhere and now regretting ripping it on the streets and restoring it to brand new looking condition.

In the end, all just got too hard, so let it got for very little money and balanced it out that year with other tax planning.

How much did you sell it for? It can't been that little unless you were that desperate to get rid of it…..which in this case I guess so since you didn't want to be held responsible with rust spots and paint fading everywhere before you sell it…hahahaha

                              • @Zachary: ha ha - was only 2.5 yrs old. No rush mate. I'm guessing you must be a Hole'den lover?

Think it went for $28.5K from memory. Only had around 40,000 on the clock too. Had a few highway trips between Syd and Melb during that couple of years. Anyways… Need to sort out a motorbike now first… !

                                • @mickyb80:

I'm guessing you must be a Hole'den lover?

If I wanted to pick between Holden and Ford, I wouldn't actually mind either; although Holden might be a more aussie choice since Ford is an American brand and Holden is Australian, and apparently Chevrolet and Vauxhall are derived from Holden, I don't know why they didn't just sell the Australian brand in the USA and UK as Holden, instead of Chevrolet SS or Vauxhall Monaro cars respectively.

Anyways, what I would like to point is that they both have their own unique tones; I've heard an XR8 ute with a nice clean and poppy "Boobobooboboboooboobooo" idle tune but on an equivalent SS ute, it'd be more like a low authoritative rumble idle tune, and it'd be very noticeable even with your windows up - you'd feel it through the car! Some SS's will have a growling grizzly idle on top of that low hertz rumble note, akin to the old 60s or 70s muscle car tune making it sound even better! I've never heard this on any Fords that I've come across or on any youtube videos; although some of the older ones sound like the Mustang GTs since they supposedly use the same engine.

I don't know. I'd have to drive one of each as a daily to find out whether I like the XR8s better or the SSs better. Right now without driving either, I'd probably be leaning towards the SS coz of that low hertz and grizzly growl idle but maybe it might sound better on a Ford if it was modded that way too?

                                  • @Zachary: If you are all about the 'sound', buy whatever you like the look, drive and feel of, then just have the fart pipe ripped out and replaced!

                                    • @mickyb80: I wonder if they do side pipes or hood pipes…..

                                      • @Zachary: Dont forget the fake bonnet scoops, and stupidly oversized spoilers.

                                        • @mickyb80: I was talking about real side pipes and hood pipes, not fake ones…..so instead of the exhaust going to the rear of the car, it'll go to either side of the car or one side of the car like on the M3 GTR or from the hood where it'll just have a short pipe coming up like on some 4x4 trucks I've seen on youtube.

Yeah, no one wants fake stuff on their car. Makes them look cheap. Hahahaha. You want the real deal on there instead if you wanted to impress people. As for spoilers, I thought spoilers help with downward force when you're going over 100km/h? And bigger ones help more or to look cool like a race car?

But yeah, if I was gonna mod my car, none of mods would be fake, they'd be all genuine and serve an actual purposes beside looking "cool". heh

But yes, I'm anti-fake (just about) anything.

Even FPV and HSV badges on a Holden or Ford for example…

My car - VW Golf R Wagon
    Work car - VW Transporter
    Mrs car - VW Polo
Brother in law - VW Tiguan
    In laws - VW Caddy

    • Golf r wagon NICE!

I got one of the last Wolfsburg wagons available in 2015 and LOVED it. Tuned the TCU and ECU, whacked in a Bigger intercooler and the thing was a beast. I had to sell it 2018 to pay for a scumbags lawyers because I lost at NCAT for something they (NCAT) later ended up agreeing with me over. I had 4 weeks to scrape up the lawyer payment and I couldn’t sell the car even at a well reduced price. As a total last resort I had to sell it to Pickles Auction for around $15k under value.

Still leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth.

      • Very nice mate! How much extra power did you get with the front mount and tune?

When my warranty runs out I am planning to get a revo stage 1 tune, CTS CAI and milltek exhaust.

    • I have a 2013 VW CC 4motion VR6 with 80k's on the clock. Any suggestions what to replace it with? Ideally something with a slight increase in power. Sub 5 sec 0-100 and preferably NA?
