    Nice!

I grabbed the slightly cheaper but full ATX instead of mATX MSI B550-A Pro (roughly the VRM from the old legendary B450 Tomohawk, so a step down from this but still 5950x capable) from them just the other day using that Afterpay code (with a 5600x, have 32GB of B-Die already) - I probs should have got one of these for that 2.5G LAN goodness especially, but I wanted the PCIe slot spacing of the full size board and couldn't justify Tomohawk money. Oh well

This is going in an NZXT M-ATX case so its perfect for me. :).. i like B450 and B550 MSI boards. Used the Bios Flashback a few times now.

good board but there's a few b550s missing from that vid that have better vrms (tomahawk, aorus pro, etc.)
msi b550 a-pro also has great vrms for a bit less if you want an atx board. cheaper is the msi b550 pro vdh wifi which has worse but still good vrms if you want wifi/bt

    personally just picked up a 5600x + b450m mortar + vengeance 16gb 3200c16 in the sale cause i'm cheap

if you need ram, scorptec ebay has the best prices for ram i've seen for vengeance rgb/ballistix/ballistix rgb at 3200c16 ($130-140). amazon US also has ballistix 3600c16 for about the same price. unfortunately ram prices kinda suck rn

    • That vid is focused on the cheaper end of the spectrum, a later vid had the higher end boards and from memory surprisingly the B550 Mortar held up pretty well and punched above its weight into beating most of the midrange (Tomohawk price point) boards - HUB do mobo VRM round ups in price points and the last vid in the series has the entire product stack from cheapest to dearest in it, but they don't do every board in existence as they have to buy a lot of them eg: ASRock blacklisted them for calling out their Z490 boards as shit IIRC, so they have to buy all of them.

yea ik, was just in response to "best vrms on any AMD AM4 motherboard" in the OP post

Picked up the same combo except for the RAM, money saved on MB went to 32gb G.Skill Aegis (3200 / C16) which is about $191 on ebay. Yes, RAM prices currently are not the best but I couldn't run the sysmem with no RAM…

    • Picked up a pair of MSI B550M PRO-VDH WiFi AM4. Going to do a 5600 build for my two boys. I wanted baked in WIFI/BT.

      https://www.tomshardware.com/features/cheap-AMD-b550-motherb…

The review put it head to head with a few other B550's and it came out with flying colours - also with high praise for the VRMs (unlike ASROCK that got hammered!)

Took full advantage of the Afterpay whilst it was hot and picked up a pair of:

      5600X
Tecware 360m AIO which I will top mount (once again overkill - but should give me some headroom on the CPU and will look nice with the RGB in the case)
      Tecware Forge L Mid Tower
MSI MPG A850GF 850W 80+ Gold psu, (could have gone cheaper here but with a 10 year warranty they can hold onto it for a long time)

All ready got 4x8 gig sticks vcolour RGB 3600 cas 18 a mate gave me when he upgraded.

Now I just need to get a pair of decently priced graphics cards for a really solid budget build with a bit of OCing headroom. Would like 3070's or 6700XT's just HODLing till they drop a little bit further.

  • I got the wifi edition of this board. Very tanky and well built.

Pretty much the best m-ATX board out there

becreaful about getting a receipt from Harris Tehcnology.. they dont include them by default, and you have to contact them via ebay, to ge the receipt… they refuse to talk to you over the phone about any Ebay purchases..

Need the receipt to claim the team card.

    • I sent them a message on ebay about the receipt.. will update if i get one.

      • they will eventually get it to you..
but why they can't include in the box, is just stupid..

I have complained, multiple times about this..

I reckon they might, be running some sort of tax scam / GST scam..
kind of weird for a listed company..

that why, receipts are never provided unless asked specifically for!!

        • After the order shipped i was able to get a tax invoice to submit to that MSI online form to claim my $40US steam coupon..
I did have to send them my email address via the ebay messaging option so they could email me directly.

I only had to register my product with MSI in my MSI account and thats about it… the serial number on the motherboard is located on the main power supply connector on the motherboard .. it took me a while to find as it was a small sticker on the side of the power socket..

The box also has the serial number.. uploaded the PDF tax invoice they email me..

So far no issues with them at all.. they take a day or two to reply.. thats about as bad as it got.

Time to wait for this giftcard to come into my email.

      • They sent me an email for the tax invoice unprompted….

but the attachment they claimed to be sending wasn't there, uh oh.

        Still waiting on a response

        • Had that issue as well..
You think you have a receipt..then when you look for it.. it isn't actually a receipt from them..

Its complete joke… their receipt policy..

I had no issues 6 months ago.. receipts came automatically..

          then something must have changed…
I've tried to complain, multiple times.. and its all fallen on deaf ears..

Pretty much.. have to emailed them (they refuse to deal with you by phone, if you bought through ebay.. despite.. what all the emails corresponce says)..

I pretty much, wont bother buying from them.. unless, its signficantly cheaper than elsewhere..

the risk of not getting a tax invoice, without a bunch of headache.. sometimes isn't worth the $1-2 dollar saving.. most of the time..
And having, dealt with their muppets called support…. I'd rather go the dentist and have a couple more fillings instead..

Eventually.. its works itself .. but not till after a few angry phone calls and emails.. and bad feedback..

I've also had them send out the wrong item, after purchasing via previous afterpay 15% off….
After contacing them, about the issue, and sending it back..(and asking for the replacement) and fully expecting them to send out the correct item, which they still had in stock, they refunded me instead.. had to wait.. almost two weeks for my refund.. meanwhile, the price of the item, increased by 30% and there's no more afterpay special…

Left them bad feedback for this.. they offered, a coupon for my next purcahse..

I said fine, I will accept..

I ask, what is the coupon / discount.. ?… They said they can't tell me after I purchase an item..???

I then get an email.. asking my to change my bad feedback… no way…

          • @Kelvin: My items been shipped.. no receipt yet and no reply to email… will wait a few more days :)

Buying through ebay gives you protections that dodgy stores cant avoid :) Ebay will refund you the money and charge the store the price after 2 weeks if something goes wrong.

  • I bought this from Amazon two weeks ago for $149. It was last item.

  • Tbh I'd just go for a B450M Mortar MAX for half the price. This generation's pretty much a dead end anyway, since Ryzen 6000 is speculated to be on AM5, so there's no reason imo to spend a lot on a board for 'future-proofing' when there is no future for it.

    • YES and NO..

Power usage is set to go up with Ryzen 6000 … I'm happy to stick with 65w CPU's for now but want PCIE4.0 for GPU and nvme

      • Even with this generation the 3080 Ti doesn't show any gains from PCIe 4.0 outside of margin of error, and if someone were buying a B550M board I wouldn't expect them to be going for an RTX 4080 Ti if even that uses PCIe 4.0

Though I can't really speak for SSDs, there just isn't enough insight into how PC gaming is going to take to the next gen consoles' fast SSDs.

        • well my RX6600XT $639 Delivered arrives in the mail on monday.. Doom shows a 30% improvement going from PCIE3 to 4 :)

          • @vid_ghost: That is one hell of an outlier, but I guess that's a good reason to buy a B550 board.

            • @Void: AMD gimped its connector so its limited on PCIE3.. most games show only a 1-4% improvement
i also want to "TRY nvme 4.0 to see if it helps the graphics card out… 7000mbps is pretty cool.. i only paid $125 for my B450M Mortar Titanum… i'll try and sell it.

  • Its not as simple as just registering the product.. u also need to then submit it in the promotions page on the MSI website.. its not easy.. i had to take a photo of the boards serial number.. After i registered it on the website and then in the promotions page i had to supply that jpeg image and a jpeg of my pdf invoice lol.. they make you do things over and over again, jump through hoops to submit the application.
