BigW got a drop of Xbox Series X consoles in store last night in Queensland. This is not an online sale and requires you to phone ahead and layby for pickup or go in-store.

I just picked one up from Big W Garden City in last 30 minutes. They got 5, Chermside 5, Northlakes got 3 or 4, Springfield Lakes and a bunch of other BigW stores picked up small quantities. Not sure about Gold Coast, but the sales person checked the computer and seemed to suggest there was a number of stores who had picked up stock.

Note my source also suggested they were in other non-lockdown states as well, but I can't confirm if that's true or not

@Caped Baldy: Legend! Thx man. Just did it :)

    • Stock not posted online yet, OP got one walk-in

  • +1

They would have been gone to staff members friends before OP got back to his car…

    • Surprisingly not. I got a tip-off on whirlpool and they had to go out back for 15 minutes to look for them. I had one on hold at Northlakes, but ending up going to Garden City as it's closer. I just cancelled my layby at Northlakes 2 minutes ago so someone else could get. Both should still be there.

  • +3

I got one from Springfield Orion today, they just got the one in last night. Know that Brisbane City store has no stock.

    • +3

Carindale and Macurthur both have no stock. Phone up and they can tell you on the phone who has stock.

Item Number for their stock check is 124385

  • Instore? Shiet I can barely leave the house without Glady's having a fit

Judging by the people I see maskless going for walks Gladys won't care.

Got myself Flight Sim to go with it too. Going to be spending the next 4 days flying around :)

    • Try out Psychonauts 2 just released super fun!

      • Thanks, will give it a crack.

I'm going to sign up to game pass tonight as well.

    • MS Flight Sim is free on Xbox Game Pass.

  • -4

So you expect us to go into every big W and hope they even have any that aren't given to their family and friends of the staff???

    • +7

      No, it's up to you

    • +8

Phone ahead and layby. Is it really that hard to grasp mate? I called and they had in Northlakes, and then did a layby, then realised i should probably check other closer stores first. Once the closer store had more stock, i let go of my layby at Northlakes (30 minutes ago)

There is quite a bit of stock filtering in this way, as I was in JB Hifi at Macarthur in Brisbane on Friday last week and they had PS5 digital in stock, and the games department guy said the city centre stores all got 50 disc PS5s each which sold out in a few days. I guess it's a fairer system than online where the bots are sweeping them up.

  • -2

    OOS now

    • +1

You really hoping people are going to pay over RRP

    • what r your mates rates?

    • +4

This is not in line with the spirit of Ozbargain. The deals are shared for the greater good of the community and not for your personal profits.

    • +3

Looking at your previous comments on other posts, you have bought dozens of these all in the name of scalping and making profits. Be better man. If you want to make money, get a better job and don't come back and say 'oh I have a great job earning $X' because obviously its not enough to stop you needing to do desperate stuff like this

      • +1

Did they genuinely have stock in Top Ryde or are you fishing? If so I'll update to NSW and QLD.

        • +1

          They didn't. He's just flaming.

    • +1

You wish you had mates, you sound like a 12yo every time you post, no one care about hearing of scalping ways, enjoy your down votes

      • I think people want to know if other stores have stock…

        • +1

But only after you have taken as much as you can carry first right……..

    • Reminds me of the people buying up baby formula all over Australia to send to China at a huge profit (around $50 a tin I think).

There is great demand for Australian baby formula because the ones made in China have killed several babies.

So I understand why people in China would pay a big premium for Australian bby formula, trouble is parents in Australia had trouble getting baby formula for their own kids (because these people would just swoop in and grab all the stock).

In the end it got so bad that baby formula had to be limited on a per customer basis, and kept behind the counter at pharmacies.

It takes a special type of greed to buy all the baby formula you don't need, and not leave one or two for those who need it.

Xbox is different, because it's not an essential product, but not only doing this but also posting about it, tells me these people are proud of what they're doing, which is pretty sad really.

  • Rang my local in SA they got no idea what I'm talking about

    • Did you ask them to check stock on the computer for other stores?

Not all stores in Brisbane have received stock, but it was showing on their computer which stores did. The tech department at both Garden City and Northlakes didn't know they had received, even after the front-of-house person on the phone confirmed. They then confirmed they had stock once they located it in the warehouse at their unloading zone.

      • They basically laughed at me

        • As did the Brisbane stores, until they realised they had received it last night and were in fact wrong.

There are two Xbox series X stock finder pages on twitter, and one of them posted earlier this week that a large order of Xbox Series Xs had entered the country this week and was expected to filter into stores later this week. They didn't know which States or Stores, and I wouldn't be surprised to see other stores get later this week or next week as it filters through.

          • @KRM123: Nothing in SA rang 3 stores

            • @Willco88: Fair enough. They can check all the stores from their 1 computer to save you having to ring around.

    Not a deal….

    • +4

Is any RRP deal a deal? Probably not, but just trying to help some fellow OZB get their hands on one, and pay something back to the community.

  • +3

    There’s 5 left at chermside. Well … 4 now.

    • Glad to hear you got one mate. Well Done.

There must be close to a dozen stores around Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Sunny Coast, so I'm sure other stores not mentioned above got too.

      • +1

        Cheers for posting mate.

        • Not a problem. Glad to help.

Also, thanks to yourself and the person above confirming the deal is legit and that other stores around Brisbane also received, up from the two stores I originally mentioned.

  • Lucky QLD bastards!

Xbox is getting better and better lately!

  • no stock online, cant CC or get it delivered -_-
Not exactly easy to get to stock :/

  • +2

Chermside had 5. I got one. Taigum had none.

The clerk said he had 4 people call and say they were coming in by the time I got there.

    No holds. One per customer

Thanks for the post OP. I saw it and headed straight to my nearest one

(Note online said out of stock)

    • +1

Good stuff, glad to hear the OZB community has managed to pick up from my deal :)

  • +4

P.s I Pre-ordered the eb games Halo console one this morning to their Cannon Hill store. Happy to swap it to someone else's name as long as you promise not to scalp it. The order is due in mid-november.

    • I'm in SA :(

    • +1

      What a good human

      • Just confirming I have promised this Halo one to a fellow OZB now, who contacted me first .

    • Mate, what do you want in return? I'm bummed I couldn't get it today

      • +1

Sorry, I promised it to another lady who asked first. Not looking to scalp and just passing it on at cost.

Sign up to Twitter, there are two series x stock alert pages for Australia that ping you if you set twitter notification on your phone and computer.

        • +1

I already have the standard edition. I was after this special one so I could swap it out. I'm a collector not a scalper. Well done though. Made someone else's day!

  • any in WA?

    • Unsure, but try calling a local store. They can tell you what is in stock locally as their computer stock system has access to all the other stores.

Item Number for their stock check is 124385

  • +1

Thanks OP - Garden City out of stock now by the way

    • +1

No worries, did you manage to grab one?

I figured once I put it up here that stocks will dwindle fast. This must be the first store drop in quite a while.

      • Nah, they said to keep calling

        • Try Chermside or North Lakes. There's around 12 stores around Brisbane.

  • -2

God it’s good to be a QLDer. Freedom to go to a restaurant or a bar hang out in the park with friends, AND we get stock of Xbox’s so we can just lock ourselves away at home by choice playing games while those in the southern states sit at home playing their heavily worn out Monopoly and Risk board games.

If Gladys manages to get enough votes to hit double digits next election it will surely be her greatest political achievement.

    • -2

yep keep on believing that media fear mongering TRASH. ignorance is bliss I suppose /facepalm

    • +4

hate to tell yah but delta will get to QLD eventually …

      • not when tourism season kicks in ;)

      • +1

Well it might, but so far every time we’ve had community transmission, including of delta, our CHO put us all into a proper hard lockdown and we got on top of it quickly and back to freedom.

Watching the NSW outbreak from the beginning I couldn’t understand why they bothered calling it a lockdown when it wasn’t even remotely a lockdown and it led to 1000 daily cases.

I would have been confident saying QLD would get through this without a NSW situation but given Victoria has also been very good at proper hard lockdowns and then getting back out yet now they’re struggling to contain it, QLD’s turn may come but we’re putting up a decent fight so far.

        • Not may. Will. COVID will be country wide once the nation opens up again. The difference will we’ll be mostly vaccinated by then, but you best believe there will be plenty of COVID in QLD

  • +1

Rang both South and North side stores, only store left is Morayfield showing 5. It's a "place your name down" and the store will check with upper management if they are allowed to sell them.

    • Thanks for the update. Strange they would need to check if they are allowed to sell products. I think if you went into the store you could probably talk them into it by telling them all other stores have been selling them today.

      • I said that other stores sold them to phone enquiries and he checked with the store manager and was told the previous message.

        • They weren't doing the sale over the phone . Just taking your name and putting it to an xbox and then doing a layby.

Was then told I had to pick it up by end of the day or it would go back to stock.

I reckon if you turned up at morayfield store first thing tomorrow you'd get one of their 5.

  • +1

Sorry QLD boys and girls - just picked up the last one in QLD from Chermside…

    Thank you OP!!! @krm123

    • You're welcome. Glad I managed to help a few get a console without the ridiculous waiting times of online orders.

      Enjoy.

Hopefully you get one real soon…

        • Xbox Series X. Don’t get confused haha it might be costly haha

    • germslide xbox

  • Damn, think I got lucky, boosted a 10x points offer for Big W the other week and now have 7500 points pending. Plus used $10 off I already had for Everyday Rewards.

    • I wanted to pay in gift card but their system would not allow, saying there was currently a glitch, anyone tried to pay with egift cards today?

  • May still be some stock at Morayfield Bigw. There were 5 there last night at closing time apparently.

    • +1

After calling again and speaking with the manager, head office finally gave approval to sell the Series X to me. There is now 3 left in store at Morayfield Big W.
