    MIN COST: $2376

Well spending $2400 to get $1000 back on a phone plan is still a lot of money. ~$1400 over two years just for a plan.
If you don't need 150gb a month you can go pre paid and save a further $1000, so you could save $2000 by going pre paid.

    • -5

1400 over 24 months is just under 60pm. That’s not a bad price at all

      • +11

Only if you need 150GB mobile data a month. Most people get free wifi at work and tap into home internet when home.

$60/month x 24 is way overkill even if you could claim part of it as work expense.

        • we go to work????
          most people are in lockdown!

          • @djones145: You don't use your phone at home? ;)

            • @DarkOz: phone yes, to accept scam calls lolz, but data, most have unlimited plans at home anyway, prolly can drop one or the other!

              • -2

@djones145: If you are working from home your mobile phone instantly becomes part of your work expense. Consult your accountant though. lol.

                • @DarkOz: You sure about that? All my meetings are done on teams, I barely touch my phone for work purposes.

  • I can't see anything about the ipad pro 12 on the page? Just iphone 12. Maybe its because I'm on mobile

    • $1000 voucher

      • How did you figure out the upfront cost?

  • +14

59*12 get 500 is still my favourite

    • -5

This is the same but double the length and therefore double the reward

      • +13

Mate hows it the same LOLL
Thanks to you guys they take out these shitty deals ;)

      • +4

your math skills are lacking buddy
        Not same, not even close

      • +2

Lol, the maths is strong with this one 😂😂😂😂

      • +7

Double the reward - Yes. $500 to $1,000
Double the length - Yes. 12 month to 24 months
        Double the monthly fee - Yes(almost, at 167.8%). $59 to $99.

So you are paying 335.6% for 200% return.

        • +4

          $59 x 12 = $708
          Minus $500 GC
Total cost of plan after GC for 12 months = $208 ($17.33 Month)

          $99 x 24 = $2,376
          Minus $1000 GC
Total Cost of plan after GC for 24 months = $1,376 ($57.33 Month) Ok you get more data with $99 plan compared to $59 plan

          Not really same after all…..

        • +1

Curious on why I am getting negged as I am confirming that it's not the same. You are spending 3.36 times more for 2 times the return. WTF?

          • +1

@DarkOz: i was replying to "This is the same but double the length and therefore double the reward"
not sure why its showing as direct response to your comment. i didn't neg your comment :)

            • +1

@MikeMelbourneAUS: All good mate. We are referring to the same thing but just a different way of presenting it. I am just dumbfounded that I received 3 negs very quickly. Not that I care about the negs but I am just curious if my maths was wrong.

      • +1

59x24 get 1000 is double the length and reward. 99x24 is not.

      • +1

Yeah I stuffed up there. Definite maths fail. I blame Friday and no coffee (have to blame something)

        • We all do them don't worry haha

  • +3

Did you get and ipad pro 12 with $99 with that data and giftcard then it's a good deal otherwise, i would stick to boost.

  • It works out to be $57.3/mth for the plan only and got locked in for 24mths. On top of that, you will probably get a credit enquiry on your credit report.

    • …and the kicker is that other Telcos already have cheaper deals than this for the same amount of data per month without the contract. People fall for this false dazzle crap too easily.

  • +4

Wouldn't the $700 or $800 gift card deal for a 12 month contract be a better option? I know there is not one at the moment but if you are not in a rush then I think it offers better value on a $99 plan. That's assuming it will come up again in the future some time of course.

    • +1

Some people see $1,000 over $700/$800 and think that they are getting $300/$200 extra bonus.

  • $1000/24 is $41.66 saving per month. So, $57.34 for 150gb/month. Not sure if it's worth it unless claiming on tax…

  • +1

Deals like this can be good for tax reasons.

Personally I'm hoping for a 12 months $60ish p/m with $500 gift card deal when the new iPhone comes out in a few weeks.

  • There are deals where your outlay is around $60 a month for 12mths and you also get a chunky gift card.

I got one last year for 12mths, $65/mth and $500 gc - that's heaps better than $99 per month.
It wasn't the best, but they do tend to time limit for a weekend.

My expiry didn't line up for a new deal, waited a bit but then got a Kogan BOGOF deal for the time being.

  • +1

The telcos must love you guys. It only takes a few people to forget to cancel their contract on time and they are making a killing

  • The banner on the website says "You can now get a mobile plan over the phone on 13 52 44"

Does this mean we no longer need to go in-store? Game changer for everybody in lockdown if that's the case.

  • +9

How is this a deal? Even after the $1000 back it's still more expensive than existing non-deal plans already out there and those are also non contract.

If you're that desperate for data, there are many options better than this. Vodafone have 150GB for $55/month no contract which is already cheaper than this. For $65 per month you get 300GB which is double the data for a little more than your plan and you're not locked into a contract, and both also give you reduced speed unlimited data once you use up the data. Optus have plans like this too, I'm sure many do and I bet all but Telstras are better than this.

You'd save a lot more just going pre paid anyway.

    • Yeah but that’s Vodafone

      • Depends where you live. I get 50mb plus with vodafail and shitty 10 mb with hel$tra. optarse might good for another area.

    • could be a deal for those bussiness, employer pays the bill, and you get the gift card. otherwise you point stands.

  • +1

It looks like Jbs are now moving toward the 24m plan. Soon all the bonuses will be for 24 m.

  • +1

    Terrible deal.

  • If your two requirements are 1. 150gb data and 2. Telstra 5G, then this deal is good.

However, most people don't have these requirements.

There is much better value in other telcos if you dont have these two things as your requirements.

JB, bring back a $800 gift card on a $59 (from $69) plan and that would be a good deal!

  • Yup,looking for something like this to replace her busted I phone 7plus, died sound chip.

  • Ok deal but the 12 month deals are better value if still running and especially if $59 pm
It is Telstra and 5G so much better than vodaphone etc

  • If 80GB is enough for you then the $69 plan with a $300 GC is actually better value.
    (69-300/12 = 44 versus 99-1000/24 = 58)

  • +3

    bullshit value

  • Note that this is for new port in customers only. Dont apply to existing Telstra customers ;(

  • If you need the 150GB data, you’re better off waiting for $700GC for 12 months, porting out and then getting the $700GC again in 13 months time when you recontract (after porting out)

The likelihood of the $700GC.. I don’t know but it seems pretty often around 30 June

    If the above happens:

    99x24 = 2376 - 1400 GC = 976 = 40.67/month over 24 months (if you can be bothered keeping an eye out for this)

    • And if you can swing a $10/month port in credit… even cheaper

  • +1

    Rubbish deal by jb

    $2376 - $1000 gc = $57.33pm x 24m, stuck with $1000 Jb gift card

Or sell gift card won’t get more then $900 usually

    $2376 - $900 = $61.5pm x 24m

Unless you woke up today saying I want a 150gb sim for 2 years @ $57-$61pm avoid 👉🙅‍♂️👈

  • Is it just me, or do these plans no longer give access to the telstra plus 'membership'?
Up until a few days ago when I tried to by a S21 on the 'telstra days' deals, I had Telstra Plus access, could see my points, shop the store and my JB Hifi $99 plan accrued Telstra points.
Now I try to log in and I am greeted with, :

You are unable to join Telstra Plus

We cannot set up a Telstra Plus membership for this account. Message us using My Telstra app, or visit us in-store to discuss your account.

Obviously I'll message to query why the change all of a sudden when for the last 4 months (and my previous 2x 12month jbhifi plans) had Telstra Plus, access and benefits, but curious to see if anyone else on the plans have had access removed?

  • Will the $500 59*12 deal come back?
