Moved to Forum: Original Link

Mod Note: Price Error Email from JB Hi-Fi. Orders has been cancelled and refunded.

This works out to $22.5/TB, surely that's some insane record low for drive prices, even if it is something whack like an 2x8tb inside.

Tried looking for what drives are inside it couldn't find it, anyone got an idea?

$30 Cashback with Zip pay

      You won't have this problem.

    • +1

I nabbed one even if I don't know what to do with it

You're right about that. You needed to have grabbed 2. Imagine losing 16TB without a backup!

      • We'll I have 2 18TBs and generally don't go for smaller drives so I just bought this on impulse only

      • 2 is 1 and 1 is none. :o

  • +1

    ⛵⛵⛵

  • Damn missed the party.

    • Didn't miss anything, pricing error on backorder will mean they will hold the money

  • -7

I doubt all the Platters of delicious slice will be delivered.

  • +2

Would be great for JB to honour it just to lift the morale of the country during these trying times, right? Right…

    • +10

Pretty sure if you can afford a gaming drive that your morale and job must still be ok.

Wouldn't it be better if OB'ners would donate some of their OB savings to those in need.

    • +10

yeah its been really trying. Everyone having issues trying their best to give out $750 for a console or $1000 for a graphics card… these are the clear signs of tough times where we are having such troubles giving away money

  • Absolutely insane value! So sad that I missed it.

    • +2

Lol there are many things I regret but not putting in an order for this isn't one of them.

    • +2

Only thing you missed is the headache of purchase/refund.

      • And have your money/credit stuck until then.

  • Fk i missed it🤦🏽‍♂️

  • Good Luck all,.. great deal if happens for yas 👍😁

  • Oops! We can't find the page you're looking for.

  • +2

Literally been looking at drives for two weeks and bought one 6 hours ago. Can't believe I missed this on the off chance that they actually honour it, but JB have always cancelled and refunded me when they F up. Good luck to those who ordered one.

    • What did you buy? I'm in the market for storage myself

      • Not the cheapest ever for obvious reasons but this 10TB for shucking. That price includes GST so it's around $28 per TB and they are either Barracuda Pros or Ironwolfs inside.

        • $33.40 per TB
          $315.33 + $19 shipping / 10TB

          • @Jessie Ryder: $286 + 10% GST and free shipping with Prime.

            • @Freezies: Who doesn't include GST when talking about prices….

              • -2

@Jessie Ryder: The very first thing I said was "That price includes GST" when responding to the guy who posted to ask me what I bought.
Why do you feel the need to keep responding to a post that has nothing to do with you and was already answered? Keep your 2 cents and put it towards a book on etiquette…

  • +2

I don't want to read any emails for the next two days 😰

  • They've pulled the page.
I presume somebody is getting a swift kick up the behind and everyone who ordered it to get refunded lol

    • +3

To be fair, they've done that on a lot of deals that have expired.

    • Will be interesting cos I used discounted gift cards.

      • +2

Worst method to be refunded to

They could just process it as store credit

  • +1

    Anyone get any emails yet?

    • +7

Nope that gives me hope lol

      • +2

To be honest I am a little surprised - I figured we would have had an email by now. shrug Happy to chew some popcorn and watch it all unfurl.
If we haven't heard anything by close of business Friday I will start to get excited.

        • Same…

    • Nup

    • +7

Were you dropped on your head as a child?

  • -8

I ordered 8 units so i hope there is no email. I want to upgrade my nas

    • With 8tb hdds?!

    • +2

8 units? bloody hogger, 4 will be for your NAS and the other 4 you're going to resell them and make a profit, DH*

    • they are 16tb drives ., doesnt matter got refunded anyway

  • +4

I used the Paypal pay in four for my order, so while I wait, I'm only down $90 - I'm happy either way it goes haha

    • +2

      Same here… :)

  • I'm beginning to think JB are going to keep the payments til mid October and cancel the orders then.

    • +2

I don't think they will do that, people will be up in arms about it, you will see the backlash and people will take it further with the consumer affairs. If it was a pricing error and they're cancelling our order, they will start calling or emailing us by the end of this weekend.

My Order status is showing Processing Order.

  • +1

Given that jb owners have a palatial house like this https://www.realestate.com.au/news/richard-murray-jb-hifi-ce… I do hope they help us poor OB to ensure we have enough games to get us through covid. Either that or they could invite us around for a pool party

  • Hmmm, maybe they are thinking to keep the money and earn a few bucks of interest for a month before we get a cancellation. Alternatively they may just want to hold onto our cash so they can to teach us a lesson for trying to OzBargain them. :-\

For those who went the ZIP route, I hope they delay the refund so that enough time passes that the $30 credit gets locked in and you get to keep it.

    • -2

I didn't do zip but I did latitude pay, so only about $30 funds tied up now (munches popcorn)

  • +1

The money went from pending to taken according to my internet banking…that’s maybe a good sign? They’ve had 2 days to reverse / cancel it…

    • +2

Nah, it's just standard process when they do nothing.

  • +7

    Got cancellation email

    • Yep, me too.

    • Same..

    • it was worth the shot lmao

    • Same here.

  • Damn, order got canned. Still hoping Zip doesn’t claw back the $30 reward which I redeemed.

  • +1

Order cancelled without any sort of offer.

  • +6

Didn't even get a gift voucher, what a farce

    • +1

They have no obligation to give out "free money" (ie. offer/gift card) for what was obviously a mistake that we all tried to capitalise on.

      • +2

True, but maybe they will if you tell them you’re the real Ken Behrens?

        • +2

Can the real Ken Behrens please stand up?

  • +3

    cancelled with this email:

  • +3

  • +1

    Game over, cancelled.

    • I paid the full repayment for ZIP before
JB cancellation, what happen next? does anyone know? Does ZIP refund your payment back into your credit card?

      • +1

Yeah they can. I was paying something else and the payment went through twice. After a couple days they refunded back.

      • Don't think I was too clear in my other comment. I had to email them with my details first.

    Dog move by JB

    • Pretty sure they didn't do it intentionally. Everyone makes mistakes.

  • -7

Good way to lose customers for life. Well done JB. :)

    • +2

Nah, still worth a shot whenever new deals/price errors coming up, or imagine losing a customer vs losing $300, no doubt merchants chose the former.

      • -3

I buy a lot at JB over a year. More than $300 in profits they would make out of me.

        • BL for them but in terms of losing a few “customers for life”, still better than not losing $300x10,000 possibly, when I see such “deals”, I put my expectations low, so no lose for me.

          • -3

@rainbowyen: I agree, but I have spent $3000 there in the last two weeks. If they want to lose me as a customer I am happy to buy elsewhere. :)

    • +4

Definitely not losing me. It was worth a shot and they have every right to cancel it. They've honoured price errors in the past out of goodwill; they are not required to do so all the time.

      • Bet those 'lost customers' will be first to front at their next sale :)

  • RIP me. Paid with gift cards. We'll see what happens.

    • GL, hence why I decided to avoid temptation of discounted gift cards in case it didn't work out.
Let us know how it pans out…

  • +1

This is what I received from JB. Good old arse covering :) Thanks Steph!

Pretty sure you'd find EVERY major retailer is covered by this. Even if they didn't have this in their T&C, they are technically covered by ACCC if it was an accidental price error (as opposed to a purposeful one to generate traffic etc).

  • Hi, all, just received an email from JB saying it was a pricing error and they'll be refunding me. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

  • +1

Nothing for me yet. Hope the refund the cash back soon. Happy about the pricing error issues, that's fine. But I need a HDD - don't hold my cash for another week or so!

    • -4

They will be in no rush to refund your money. That's why they have "pricing errors" to boost their finances.
