Been like this for a while but nonetheless might want to wait till after the new iPhones come out. Price will likely drop further.

$597 / $677 at Officeworks as another option for those that prefer (free metro delivery or in store/c&c).

  • I’m still running a 256GB XR.
Great phone and still very fast

  • always confused which one better XS or XR
ah why they dont make things simple

    • +1

My understanding is, XS has better screen while XR has much better battery life.

ikr? This helped me jogged the memory, but essentially XR is the more affordable model at launch, with 3GB RAM (vs 4GB on the XS) and a somewhat lesser screen tech. Both share the A12 Bionic and most everything else iirc.

should just do number not X, so 10 for standard model, and then 10+ and then 10- for budget.

    • XS is better overall but theres not much stock available anymore.

    • Can't find new XS from retailers anymore (maybe on eBay/Gumtree). If you don't really care about screen quality, XR is an ok choice.

    • Probably part of the reason why they changed the way they named their phones.

The XR is the lower tier phone of the generation.

The following year, the XR equivalent was called the iPhone 11 and the XS equivalent was called the 11 pro.

XS is the better device in every way bar battery life, which the XR will edge ahead.

The XR is still a great phone though, and awesome at this price.

After the last update stuffing up battery on my mum's iPhone SE, no way I'm recommending anyone in the house to get Apple stuffs.

    • never heard about an android phone outlasting an iPhone. Good luck.

  • My Mum needs a new phone. Doesn't need anything special, just good speed and a decent sized screen for her vision. Though waiting for the iPhone 13 to drop as to maybe get an 11 a bit cheaper (currently $1079 at JB) or would something like this be absolutely fine for her basic needs? Would the 11 drop any further?

I know it's an A13 bionic versus an A12 but not sure the difference will make that much of a difference for her?

    • Don't have much experience with iPhone but I do know that the last few generations have been plenty fast enough. I do know that iPhones tend to last three to five years.

The new frontier is augmented reality but that is still in it's infancy. It's probably best for your mum to wait for you or the rest of the world to iron out the bugs.

This is my experience with iPhone and general experience.
