30x Everyday Rewards Points with Apple Gift Card (Excluding $20 Denomination) @ Woolworths

3390

Take two. Full credit to @kelasen for the heads up.

Deal taken from the weekly catalogue starting 15 September.

Please note the following:

  • This deal requires an Everyday Rewards account. If you do not have an Everyday Rewards account, use this link to get 1,500 bonus points as a sign-up bonus. The sign-up bonus points can take up to 30 business days to be credited to your account.

  • The variable value Apple gift card (where you can load between $20 and $500) is part of this deal. You will earn 30x bonus points for every whole dollar you load onto that gift card.

  • Although the catalogue states the limit is 10 per transaction, some store managers have set their own limits on gift card sales (e.g. $500 per transaction, $1000 per day). You may need to split your purchases over multiple transactions or multiple days.

  • If you are planning to purchase $1000 or more in gift cards, your best bet is to go to a serviced checkout, not a self-service checkout. Large-scale purchases require additional approval steps, and it is easier if that is done at a serviced checkout with a dedicated checkout operator.

  • The older blue-coloured App Store & iTunes gift cards are not part of this deal.

Terms and conditions

  • Offer available from 15/9/21 to 21/9/21 on all denominations of Apple Gift Cards (excluding $20 Apple Gift Cards) in Woolworths supermarkets, Woolworths Metro and Woolworths MetroGo only, while stocks last.

  • Excludes Woolworths Online and Ampol Woolworths Metro.

  • Standard points will not be earned on amount spent on gift cards, but the relevant number of bonus points which you qualify for under this offer.

  • Bonus points can take up to 14 business days to be loaded onto your Everyday Rewards card from date of purchase.

  • Refer to individual cards for their terms and conditions.

  • $30 = 900 rewards points
  • $50 = 1500 rewards points
  • $100 = 3000 rewards points
  • $200 = 6000 rewards points
  • Limit of 10 per transaction applies.

Additional Information

Everyday Rewards Dollars

  • 2000 Everyday Rewards points is equivalent to $10 Everyday Rewards Dollars (redeemable at Woolworths, BIG W, BWS across Australia or Caltex Woolworths / EG Australia in mainland Australia) or 1000 Qantas points.

  • Everyday Rewards points can only be converted to Everyday Rewards Dollars or Qantas points in multiples of 2000.

  • Everyday Rewards Dollars cannot be used for any gift card purchases at Woolworths unless the bonus points you earn from the gift card purchase will push your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance above the $4500 limit.

Earning Everyday Rewards Points

  • Any purchase of any gift cards at Woolworths (or BIG W) will not earn any standard Everyday Rewards points.

  • Any purchase of any gift cards in this deal at Woolworths almost always do not count towards any other bonus Everyday Rewards points promotions (e.g. spend $x in one transaction to earn y points). However, a number of people reported in the previous Apple gift card deal that the purchase of Apple gift cards counted towards targeted/personalised Everyday Rewards points promotions. It is likely Woolworths has closed this loophole, so it is best to assume Apple gift cards no longer count.

  • If you are purchasing this gift card at a self-service checkout, you should be able to see the number of Everyday Rewards points you will earn as part of this transaction in the top right-hand corner of the payment screen.

  • You will only earn bonus points on every whole dollar loaded onto a gift card. For example, if you specify $50.50 as the amount to be loaded onto the variable value gift card, you will only earn 500 bonus points, not 505 bonus points.

Paying for Gift Cards

  • Woolworths’ POS system allows split payments for gift card purchases at self-service checkouts and serviced checkouts.

  • Gift cards issued by Woolworths Group Ltd1 cannot be used as payment for any gift cards at Woolworths (or BIG W). Attempting to redeem them on gift card purchases will be blocked by the POS system and return an error.

  • Prepaid VISA/Mastercard/EFTPOS gift cards (e.g. Coles Gift Mastercards, EFTPOS gift cards from this deal2) can be used to purchase Apple gift cards at Woolworths.

  • Make sure to check the small activation receipt that the checkout prints after a gift card purchase. If it says successful at the bottom of the receipt, the gift card was correctly activated. If it does not say successful, alert the service desk of the failed activation and they will sort it out. This receipt will be printed out even if you have turned off paper receipts for your Everyday Rewards account.

Odds and Ends

  • Gift card purchases at Woolworths will earn 4c/L (or 6c/L in Tasmania) fuel vouchers.

  • Gift card purchases do not count towards the spend requirement for the current Woolworths Brick promotion.

Using Apple Gift Cards

  • You can redeem up to 8 gift cards (in conjunction with an Apple Account Balance and/or a credit/debit card) online or over the phone at Apple.

  • You can redeem up to 8 gift cards (in conjunction with a credit/debit card) in-person at an Apple Store.

  • You cannot redeem an Apple Account Balance in-person at an Apple Store.

  • You can load multiple Apple gift cards to an Apple Account Balance, but the maximum balance is $4999.

  • Apple gift cards have no expiry date.

  1. If you have a gift card where you can check the balance here, it was issued by Woolworths Group Limited.

  2. Another user confirmed that EFTPOS gift card can be used as a payment method for Apple gift cards at Woolworths.

      • Nah my comment is correct.
I was going to buy an Apple Watch tonight using the gift cards from woolies.

I opted for the applecare monthly option and ot wouldn’t let me redeem the Apple ID balance.
When I changed to apple care upfront, it let me use my balance.

AppleCare T&C’s for monthly states that it needs a credit card to deduct from.

        • +1

If you want to pay monthly, just pay of the device first, then sign up within 60 days of purchase on your device or online and it’ll deduct it from your Apple ID balance.

My monthly payment for the iPhone 12 Pro Max gets taken out monthly like that.

          • +1

@zzzman: Thanks for your comment. Went back to the shop and bought another $300 of cards to pay for applecare

          • @zzzman: Trying to add monthly Apple Care+ today after new iPhone 13 Pro received - but it's only asking for credit card details…..

How do I get the monthly amount to come of my balance?

            • @digitalane: Monthly subscription can only be deducted from credit card. One off can be paid from account balance.

              • @spc12go: Thats weird - message above (and many others) says the opposite

  • Further discounts from education store? Why some posters here want to buy from there?

    • +2

Some Apple products are never discounted at Apple authorised resellers.

For example, JB Hi-Fi sells Macs at a 10% discount from time to time, but it always excludes custom build-to-order. So if you want to buy an M1 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM (which is only available as custom build-to-order), it would only be available for a discount through Apple EPP portals or the Education Store.

      • I have EPP through my company and iPhones are never discounted.

MacBooks, iPads and Apple Watches yes.

Accessories (cases, chargers, etc) are also discounted.

        • We get 2% on iPhones! Every little helps 🤓

  • Hey guys!

I have a question about using Cashrewards for purchasing Apple products that are not in the exclusion list.

    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/apple

You may not be eligible for Cashback:
If a gift card is purchased or used as payment.

Does the above rule still apply if you use the balance from your Apple ID for payment?

    /cc @tightarse

    • +1

I sent an email to CR asking the same question a couple of weeks ago but Apple did not reply to them yet.
Would be good if @tightarse can clarify

      • Thank you.

This is indeed a tricky one since your Apple ID balance can be increased either by using a GC, or payment via your credit / debit card.

    • +1

guess we wont know unless someone tries it. maybe purchase a smaller product like a charger to test if this works? The customer service wont know either..

  • I got a feeling that this kind of offer will be less frequent in the future. Hope I am wrong.

  • do WW stores generally carry $500 apple cards? Are these in the gift card section? definitely a great discount on apple hardware.

    • I've never bought apple gift cards before, but from what i've read here you can choose the amount. So I plan on buying 3 x$500 and 1 x $369 for the 13 Pro.

My bloody Galaxy s20 has been giving me the shits lately. Can not wait to get back to Apple, failed experiment on my part haha.

      • yes been in the other side (Android) for some years before getting back to Apple. I hate the keyboard typing on Samsung even on the latest S21.. everything just works with IOS no dramas. I dont need all those fancy useless spam Samung apps preloaded on my phone…

I owned a Sony in the past it was great in the beginning and then within 6 months It gets so hot and battery drained after the software update..

  • +1

I purchased enough for my iphone pre-order this morning.

Couple of things worth noting from my experience:

    • When people talk about $500 GC, they are actually variable cards from $20-$500 and you choose how much to load on the card at check out
    • The lady was nice enough to transact the individually, not sure if it is a thing but she mentioned SM didn't want multiple gift cards in 1 transaction
    • Grab the variable ones if you see them and think about values later, the couple minute after i grabbed mine while select sticker styles, couple people just grabbed the entire stack of remaining variable value cards
    • Finally be nice to the check out attendents, they've been doing this since yesterday morning and mentioned there is just some real rude and entitled peeps.
    • +2

Also some rude and entitled store managers ;)

  • +1

    Thanks OP
Just purchased 4x $500 gift cards this morning. And my $300 credit is already on my rewards card.

Note that I had to go to 2 stores (Seaford and Colonnades, SA) as both stores has a strict $1,000 limit for gift card purchases.
So bought $1,000 worth at each.

  • Try asking the service desk for any remaining gc. Saw a women asked and a staff got some “reserved” stock from the desk.
Not sure if they are friends but def worth asking

  • Saw some other forum comments stating purchased 2k worth of cards, initially $300 rewards money gone thru, and suddenly additionally $120 bonus rewards money also added on top. So this must have some booster points trigger previously set up before buying the gift cards? Does anyone know how does that work? $2000 for $420 rewards money is very good IMO

    • +1

So this must have some booster points trigger previously set up before buying the gift cards?

      Yes.

Did you see these comments in this deal or the previous Apple/Woolworths deal?

Does anyone know how does that work?

Everyday Rewards bonus points boosters (e.g. spend $100 in one or more transactions in a week to earn 2700 points, earn 10x points if you spend $150+ in one transaction) exclude gift cards in their terms and conditions.

However, it seems to be the case that Everyday Rewards needs to specify the PLU (product look-up) numbers of gift cards that are excluded from these boosters. Apple gift cards were basically brand new when the first Apple/Woolworths deal was released a month ago, and it looks like someone forgot to add the PLU numbers of the Apple gift cards as exclusions for these boosters. Thus, some people could get extra bonus points.

As I mentioned in my deal post, there’s a very good chance that Everyday Rewards has closed this loophole between the first deal and the current deal, because someone from Everyday Rewards may have caught onto the fact that some people were being rewarded with more bonus points than they were supposed to earn.

      • However, it seems to be the case that Everyday Rewards needs to specify the PLU (product look-up)

I am now entirely convinced you work in the retail sector specialising in gift cards. :-)

        • +1

Haha I do not! I should have explicitly stated in my comment that this is all mere speculation, so then you wouldn’t think I worked in the IT department of Coles or Woolworths or something like that lol

The reason I assume it is something to do with PLU numbers is this comment. The Swap Celebration gift cards were a relatively brand new gift card when Woolworths ran a bonus points promotion late last year, and the user in the linked comment reported that the purchase of Swap Celebration gift cards accidentally triggered a bonus points booster that was already active in their account. However, that is not the case anymore, which makes me think the bonus points booster exclusions probably have something to do with PLU numbers.

I’m not even the only person who thinks this is the case.

      • I just got a Bonus of 2000 WW points unlocked after my Apple gift card purchase yesterday - interesting as that bonus offer only came up on Thursday and I activated it then. I had purchased a lot of Apple gift cards on Wednesday before receiving the bonus offer but they didn’t trigger a bonus. So it seems the bug hasn’t been fixed in their system

    • Interesting, I didn't know this but I bought $2000 worth of cards last night and today my Everyday Rewards balance is $460 (was $0 yesterday because I switched it from Qantas points to dollars only yesterday).

Had a really nice guy putting through the transaction for me and because it was taking a while, he apologised and asked me to scan my card again so he could give a bonus 1000 points. He said it paled in comparison to what I was earning by buying the gift cards haha but nice gesture for sure.

  • For those that want to know….Rhodes metro has a huge stack still on the rack (of all denominations).

    • Same for people in Brissy, Redlands. Alex Hills store had heaps of gift cards left. Just got $1869 worth with no dramas at all. All pre loaded now ready to go.

  • Woolies Mirrabooka ( WA ) still has plenty ( variable and other ).

So a quick question on the best way to use these cards. I am planning to do a pickup friday week for the iphone. Would it be advisable to add the balance to the account or just take the gift cards in and pay with them at the Apple Store.

I think from memory - they charge you when you go to pick up the phone, not when you place the pre-order.

Any help would be highly appreciated

    • yes I want to know too as I want to pre-order and pick up in store in person as well but as I am in Sydney I don't think store staff want to touch my cards and do the transactions that way

      • +1

Having done a bit more reading, there are mainly 2 ways you can go about it

        1. "Reserve" the iphone - this means you go to the store, pay for it and get to pick up the phone

        2. "Pre-order" via the app/website - Here you have to pay for the phone when you pre-order it and still have the option to pick it up from the apple store ( or get delivered )

      • I think the same and no longer use contact payment (cash) for a long time. But it seems not everyone is doing the same.

    • If I were you I wouldn't chance it. Depending on the model you want it could be popular and be out of stock soon after launch day. I know if you do a "reserve and pick up" you do not get charged and you pay when you pick up, not sure about pre-ordering. In fact if you wanna pre-order it, I think you'd have to nominate a payment method during the process which in your case would be either the Apple gift cards or Apple Account Balance - either way you'd have "paid" Apple at the time of pre-order. Having said that I have never tried to preorder something with Apple gift cards or Apple Account Balance so I could be wrong.

Be aware though if say your iPhone is $2000 and you got 10 $200 cards, you can't use them all on it online as the maximum number of Apple gift cards you can redeem online is 8. That would be fine if you have say 4 $500 cards. In that case load them into Apple Account Balance which has a maximum of $4999 balance.

The advantage of not loading it into your Apple Account Balance is that you can sell the gift cards to someone or whatever, but if you know they are going towards an iPhone then you might as well just load them in.

      • The advantage of not loading it into your Apple Account Balance

If you are pre-ordering, Apple ID balance would be the way to go.
You wouldn't want to be stuffing around with gift card codes at the time. The window is very short due to high demand.

        • Is that really the case? I mean there are so many iPhones. It's not like PS5s or 3080 graphics cards.

          • @ChillBro: I think it still is the case with "popular" configurations.

Previously they used to run out in minutes. Now its more in hours haha

            • @PreOAbs:

Now its more in hours haha

People think twice about dropping $2K on a new phone which is more of an incremental upgrade from previous year's.

  • Does anybody know if spending woolworth dollars subsequently on normal grocery items, will count towards the weekly bonus point spends? Thanks.

  • So can we stack cash back with an iPhone 13 purchase or is cash back excluded?

    • With Shopback, no.

Cashback is calculated based on the Order Value, excluding any GST/Taxes, Delivery Fees, & any amount paid for with Gift Cards.

With Cashrewards, the answer is not known.

      • What about with Apple Account Balance? Or are (new) iPhones just in general aren’t included at all?

        • New iPhones are usually excluded from cashback for the first couple of months after release (from memory, new iPhones would only be eligible for cashback around January).

I would assume Apple could classify the Apple Account Balance as a gift card, because you can top it up via gift cards (as well as debit/credit cards). However, it would be best to ask the Shopback / CR reps directly.

          • +1

            @WookieMonster:

However, it would be best to ask the Shopback / CR reps directly.

No response on this edge case scenario from the reps.
Until informed otherwise by the reps, I would assume using Apple ID balance will void cashback (i.e. no double dipping).

  • +1

66,000 Qantas points hit my account today. Enough to get me to Points Club Plus

Also on my first transaction I received 5,300 bonus ER points. I added all the boosters in app before I went so something must’ve triggered.

Also have another promo just received to get 2,700 if I spend $100 before 19/9 so will try grab a couple more and see if that triggers too!

    • +1

If it triggered at least one bonus points booster, it should trigger all bonus points boosters.

Some boosters can be triggered multiple times, so you may be able to get a lot more bonus points!

      • 5,300 seemed an odd amount though

        • Did you have a 3x, 5x or 10x or some other multiple x points booster in your account activated in your account? It sounds like it could have been that.

You can see all the points boosters activated or completed in your account on the app.

      • Also odd my ER balance now shows exactly 0 now. But it was 632 before I bought the cards so that’s impossible too!

        • I wouldn’t be too concerned about that. It is probably Everyday Rewards glitching out, rather than Everyday Rewards stealing all your points.

My fuel vouchers regularly disappear for 15 minutes and then magically re-appear again.

  • +4

Thanks op, basically got a iPhone 13 pro max for 800 dollars thanks to this and salary sacrifice.

    • Thanks op, basically got a iPhone 13 pro max for 800 dollars

Could you show us the maths for such a massive savings with SS?
Maybe you are ordering the 128GB model?

      • +5

256gb pro max is 2019 dollars.
Salary sacrifice means it's a business expense so no gst is paid.
        This means its tax free : 2019/1.1 = 1835
I'm taxed at the 45 percent rate so I essentially get 45 percent off this number : 1835x.55=1000.9
This purchase also gives you 300 dollars of Woolworths vouchers which I can value at 66 percent cause ww is around 33 percent more expensive than asian grocers/Aldi
        1000-200 is 800 dollaroos.
Bonus is to sell after a year for like 1.2k to make another 400 dollars.

        • I was thinking of doing this too but how do you salary sacrifice the purchase of gift cards? I would assume that wouldn't meet the FBT exemption. It might be possible if the business purchases the gift cards in its own right then purchases the phone with those cards. But if the business purchases the gift cards how do you get the bonus points? Unless you are the business owner.

          • @TTTT1111: You just need the invoice which shows you paid for the phone. Method of payment does not matter. Just make sure your job actually requires a phone. Else you'll backpay taxes plus possibly a fine.

          • @TTTT1111: I am also going to do the same. I asked my payroll manager about using Gift Card to buy mobile and claiming under salary sacrifice and the response was "as long as the invoice shows dollar amount paid for the device".

So, can anyone confirm buying the iPhone on apple website using apple account balance generates an invoice with exact amount paid for the device?

      • Assuming 128GB model ($1,849), salary sacrifice could return about $700, plus $300 value of WW rewards.

    • Wow.. but question. Dont you get taxed from an FBT point then? Or is your company exempt from FBT?

      • Fbt exemption occurs when it's used primarily for work which is pretty easy to justify when work requires you to be connected most of the time so that they can wake you up at 3am.

    • That was me last year with the iPhone 12 and JB Hifi Gift cards… and it will be me again with the 13 when I get around to it. Can presumably sell the 12 pro for more than the new 13 pro will cost, so better-than-free.

      • Perks of paying a shitton of tax

        • I do pay a shit ton of tax, but it seems fair. The salary sacrifice thing seems daft but I'll take it.

    • Good work i plan to do this too.
This is an obvious question did you include apple care+ and try and get that salary sacrificed? I assume its not meant to be included as a deduction as its not part of the device's cost but wondered if you tried

For even more savings pre-covid previously i've claimed the TRS as well so thats another 10%, im wondering if international borders will open by the end of the year i'll time my 60 days

      • I salary sacrificed apple care+ last time and was told by my employer that anything related to the phone that was on the same receipt could be sacrificed, so apple care+, screen protector, and case in my case. I didn't use it, but they did agree that I could get airpods on the same transaction as well.

    • Did you buy mobile online? Have you received invoice or will it be available after the Phone is delivered? I pre-ordered online and haven't received invoice. I too need it for salary sacrifice claim

  • If I have $300 in everydayrewards account, can I use them in 1 go or max $10 off per shop transaction?

    • +2

You can redeem any multiple of $10, but they can only be redeemed in lots of $10.

For example, if you purchase $42 worth of groceries in a shop, you can redeem $10, $20, $30 or $40 worth of Everyday Rewards dollars.

  • So my apple store balance comes up fine in checkout for normal store but for edu store it’s not an option. I have the option to enter up to 8 gift cards but not use my balance. Any ideas?

    • I just did a test run of buying an iPad on the Apple Education Store and I have the option of applying my Apple Account Balance.

      • Weird. Mine was for a Mac mini. Was on my home. Will try on laptop instead

        • I just did a test run of buying the base model Mac mini on the Apple Education Store and I have the option of applying my Apple Account Balance.

My guess is that something funky was/is going on with your account.

    • +1

We’re you purchasing AppleCare on a monthly payment option? If so, you can’t use Apple ID balance at purchase.
Either chance to annual, or remove completely (and purchase after the sale using your Apple ID balance).

  • Plenty of variable and $100-200 GCs at Williamstown. Manager let me buy in two $1000 transactions.

Yarraville has $100 GCs if you ask but will staff today only let me buy $500 on that visit.

  • +4

I just purchased apple gift cards, and one of the $500 gift cards failed to activate. The staff gave me a refund and re-issued another gift card, but the Rewards points didn’t get refunded 🎉 That’s an extra $75 in rewards points!

  • +1

I just went to Woolworths in Queanbeyan, and they had only a few $100/$200 apple cards left.

Then went to Woolworths in Jerrabomberra, they have plenty of everything. Just got $2,700 worth of Apple Gift Cards there without a problem, enough for iPhone Max 13 512gb, applecare+ and some $ leftover for apps and things. They did have to put each of the 6 cards through one at a time, but no problem.

  • I bought 4 card at $500 each today. Can I go to another woollies and get another 4 card at $500 or is there a limit per everyday rewards card for the promotion?

    • I just did $2,700 at one store with no problem. Got $410 of Woolies $ in my account now.

      • Oh good. I am getting a max mini and a new iPhone next week. I have a 2011 iMac which is so slow and time to upgrade. Just need to find a suitable monitor which is 27 inch.

    • There is no limit for the number of cards you can purchase during this promotion, as long as you only purchase a maximum of ten gift cards per transaction.

      • The manager at the Woolies I passed by and dropped into had told her staff only a Max of five per head. There were only $20 & $50 cards left, so I grabbed a couple of 50s.

Of course, that could be contested, or easier still, go self checkout or the manned counter.

        But no real limit.

  • I bought $1500 in cards, how much Woolworths money am I gonna get?

    • +1

      $225

    • +3

Buy first, ask later, love it!

      • I knew it was a lot of money though and I will buy the new iPhone so….

  • Does apple price match the JB HiFi 10% off MacBook prices?

Would like to use these gift cards for Macbook Air M1 usually 1350$ at JB and other stores.

    • +1

Apple cannot price match on their online store.

Apple can price match over the phone, but the maximum discount they will apply to the device is 10%.

For example, if JB Hi-Fi suddenly decided to discount MacBook Airs by 15%, the largest discount you will get over the phone with Apple is 10%.

      • Cool. So still using these cards would bring down the actual cost.

  • Does anyone know if you can use the Woolworths mobile 10% off a shop with this deal?

  • Noob question but my rewards app says $200 off my next purchase (after I bought the gift cards).

Does that mean if my next purchase is 10 dollars, that I lose $190 bux.

Or does it just keep being available until all used up no matter how many purchases it takes?

    • +1

The “$200 off your next purchase” really should actually say “up to $200 off your next purchase”.

For example, if your next grocery run at Woolworths is $42, you can choose to redeem $10, $20, $30 or $40 from your Everyday Rewards balance.

You will not lose your balance money if you don’t redeem it in your next eligible transaction at Woolworths. (I think Everyday Rewards dollars expire 12 months after they are earned, but I have to double-check that…)

      • Wasn't expecting a reply so quick. Thank you very much!!

          No worries!

Since I am the OP, I get a notification every time someone posts a new comment here in the Post New Comment on the bottom of this deal, and I was already typing a response to someone else’s question in another deal, so I didn’t have to go far haha

          • @WookieMonster: Ah okay haha. Still can't believe I just got $200 off my new ipad mini 6 (released next friday) Stoked!! Cancelled my previous order and bought it with the cards.

Had to do it ASAP since my city was out of stock so lucky cancelled my previous order straight away and bought it with the gift cards straight away before anyone else could nab my order.

Had to go to 2 woolies but sooo worth it.

Here i was thinking discounts are only for samsungs haha.

            Thanks again!!

@fd9: Enjoy the new iPad Mini!

In all fairness, Apple only sold (and sometimes at a discount) iTunes gift cards in retailers for donkeys years, but they ditched them in early July for these new unified Apple gift cards, which is why now you can suddenly get Apple hardware at a “discount”.

Some discounted gift card portals sell Apple gift cards at a discount everyday, so you can now enjoy discounts on Apple gift cards everyday as well!
