They're a multi billion company, I doubt that they would miss 200 dollars. Their mistake, your gain

  • +3

If im not going to send my phone im ment to trade in, do i need to email anyone? Or just don't send it in?

    • +2

      Yep, email Jason.

  • +1

Thanks to OP and other posters.

Got a $100 code from the Samsung chatbot on their website (lower right corner circular logo - only on desktop computer). When I used other chatbot on the Samsung website they asked me to email them with photos of the front and back damage device and the IMEI number - will see if they give it to me (I actually have old damaged Samsung devices…) - but then I tried the website chatbot and they gave me a code without any questions.

Paired that with $50 newsletter discount and $500 trade in discount to bring the S21+ price to $699 (ignoring trade in price). With a potential $60 non return admin fee, total cost $759.

Looking forward to getting the phone.

    • +1

Which email address did you email the photos of the cracked phone to get the discount code

Any tips on what to ask when requesting the code the cracked screen and the $100 code from the Samsung chat?

      • +1

Basically what others said - i.e. along the lines of "I am upgrading from Samsung C9 Pro and need a $100 loyalty code please, to facilitate me buying immediately".

It is true in my case - I do have a C9 Pro that needed upgrading and doesn't work - so am happy that gave me a code for that.

A separate chatbot (not the website chatbot with green circular icon, the other one) asked me to email [email protected] with photos of the phone and the IMEI number. I did that too, but I haven't heard back yet.

  • +1

I got the code from chatbot. I was waiting on the newsletter code. I got the newsletter code and the chatbot code is not working. I think the gods want me to get an iPhone.

    • +1

pls make sure - u copy correctly - no space beffore - try again - or else type the code - will work

    • +3

      Don't give up fellow elgrande..

    • +1

Same issue, finally got the newsletter code and the $100 chat code that I got is not working. Trying chat again to resolve but can't get through.

    • +1

from the actual chatbot? or you messaged a real person?

  • +1

Would be great if anyone has a spare newsletter code please. Trade in code finally worked after hours of error, but the newsletter code hasn't arrived, am hoping that the discount will stay there in the cart till I get the newsletter code

  • +1

I am giving up. They are f**king with me

  • +1

I cant figure out getting the 100 code. U don't get any circular chat on the bottom right. Tried in desktop.
Also tried normal chat but says no agent after waiting for 15 mins.

    • +1

I got two from two seperate regular chats and both times I waited more than 15 minutes for someone to respond ..patience is key ;)

      • +1

What did you say in the chat? Thanks

        • +3

I know you're not asking me, but I got a chat code yesterday. I literally copied and pasted another ozbargain user's message from page 9, verbatim.

I'm considering upgrading my S10+ to new iphone or an S21
But it has a small crack and the trade in value is only $5
There are comments on the internet that samsung chat reps can provide $100 coupon code, and unless I get a coupon it's not really worth me upgrading

After that, they said they'd check if there were discount codes on galaxy devices, then came back a few mins later with a code. No other questions asked.

          • +4

@smokyjoe: Haha that was me, this lockdown in Melbourne is so boring, you copying my chat was the most exciting thing that happened this weekend.

            • +1

@zan5hin: Ha ha. I know the feeling (I'm in melb too). Scoring such a huge discount on the s21 was definitely the highlight of my week.

        • +1

apologies for late reply - basically said what everyone else did
I am upgrading from insert any SAMSUNG phone model here and need a $100 loyalty code please

I didnt mess around with small talk or stories, just told them straight out I need a $100 code. As of this morning I have now ordered three phones (2 x ultras 1 x base s21) all with $100 each obtained via the chat

My husband is keeping one of the Ultras and I couldnt decide if the price difference is justifiable between ultra and s21 so I will send one back

  • +1

Wife dropped and cracked the screen on her S8 yesterday morning. 3 hours later, after finding this deal and reading the comments, I'd ordered an s21 128gb for $379. Got a $100 chat code first go, with no photos/IMEI required (although it took me about an hour in the queue and several attempts to actually speak to someone). Signed up for the newsletter, then emailed [email protected] to say that I was still waiting on the code to order a new phone, and they sent me one within about an hour.

Question; in the tradeup app I stated no damage (device was ineligible with damage). With which method am I more likely to avoid paying the $60 admin fee? Ignore the return and don't send it in, or send in the phone with unreported damage, which makes it ineligible? There's absolutely no value in me keeping the phone.

Thanks ozbargain. You just saved me hundreds :)

    • +2

Not sending the phone will definitely cost you $60 admin fee and for now everyone is new to sending a wrong or damaged device and the outcome. May be you should jump in to sending the damage device, in both cases you are in win win situation, if they don't charge you any admin fee which is most probable it's a win but if they charge you $60 which is against their terms still it's a win as you already knew you might be charged for that much.

      • +2

Cheers. That's the sort of insight I was after :)

      • +1

That's true. The only thing I'm worried about is regarding the misgraded fee. According to the terms:

Mis-Grading Device Fee means a fee which is equal to the difference between the following amounts:
the amount of the discount You received when Your unique Trade ID was applied at the point of sale when You purchased Your New Samsung Device Online in accordance with clause 5.2 of these Terms and Conditions; and

the fair market value of Your Existing Device once grading is confirmed by Us.

If I understand this correctly, If the fair market value is determined to be lower, than expected, let's say $5 because of dents. Then effectively you will not get your phone back right ? And you just have to accept the new grading price. This makes sending in the phone not worth, if you can get a higher price outside…

      • +1

Someone suggested disputing the $60 charge. Not sure how that would work out.

    • +1

I sent couple of email to [email protected] after signed newsletter yesterday, never got back :(

      • +1

I sent an email yesterday and got one back, might just need to wait a bit more.

  • +2

Going to buy one for the wife to switch from IPhone, if she doesn't want it, I keep it. Can't lose with that strategy.

  • +1

Chatbot does not appear for me today? The automated chat should be working on Sundays

The only other option I see is to click the support chat

    Any possible workaround

    • +2

Same. Been trying since last night..

      • +2

Adblock disabled? It's appearing for me

        • +1

Yep, thanks…get the chat window fine, but no one answers?! Just busy maybe?
          Will keep trying..

        • +1

Thank you, Disabled Adblocker and the chatbot appeared but no reply

  • +1

I want to order phantom grey but waiting for it to come back in stock:(

    • +2

If you wait a few more days, you may only have Phantom Pink left ;-)

      • +1

And now there is only Phantom Pink in stock for the S21 …

  • +1

    Finally, Got the $100 too.
Had to open mulitple browser in the desktop and also had it open on my phone with desktop mode.
Waited for 20 mins and all of the other chat closed other then the one on my phone.
Got a code straight away and a friendly reminder that these will be out of stock soon as many are flying off the shelves. lol

    got the s5 256 gb for $469
Which would be $469+$30+$60 = $559 (Not bad)

Also, I used my Sasmung tab wifi a7 for trade up :)

  • +2

I keep getting trade up not available whenever I put my code in. Anyone else having similar issues?

    • +1

      Anyone else having similar issues?

A lot talking about this here, just read.

    • +1

It worked for me after about half a day. I left the code there for a few hours, came back and refreshed the page, then re-entered the code.

  • +1

Does anyone have a saved copy of the original t&c? Very dodgy stuff going on here re trade in company fees…

    • +1

Check your old trade up emails, has a link to the old terms

  • +1

Are we supposed to get an email on how to return the phone for trading? I may have accidentally on purpose uninstalled the app…. Now reinstalling is starting all over again.

    • +1

an email on how to return the phone for trading?

      Yes email.

  • +2

I contacted Samsung about the trade in fee that will be charged if I decide to not send the phone and was told that I will need to pay the non return fee and all the credit I received at the time of payment including bonus.

    • +1

Until someone posts credible proof of that happening, they will not charge the bonus value.

In the past, they've only charged the original trade-in value for not sending it in and now, it's that plus the $60 non-return fee - no mention of the bonus value.

      • +1

So the previous deal didn't have the $60 non-return fee? Does that mean last deal was $60 cheaper?

        • +1

Yep, didn't have the $60 fee.

The bonus trade in value was $400 last time however.

          • +1

@silverrat23: oh, so is this deal cheaper than the previous deals?

    • +1

Take a look at the red words in the Tax Invoice

"Your discount has been applied to cart. Promotion applied to your order
Your trade in discount plus your $500 trade in bonus has been applied. Bonus $500 offer ends 30.09.2021
      Promotion applied to your order
Thank you for signing up to Samsung Electronics Marketing emails. Your $50 promotion code has been applied to
your order. Promotion applied to your order"

The wordings are "Your trade in discount plus your $500 trade in bonus", the trade in bonus are not included in the trade in discount as per the tax invoice, or else the wording should be like "you trade in discount includes your $500 trade in bonus…"

      • +2

        My red says this

Your discount has been applied to cart.
        Promotion applied to your order
Thank you for signing up to Samsung
        Electronics Marketing emails. Your $50
promotion code has been applied to
your order. Promotion applied to your
        order
Your trade in discount plus your $500
trade in bonus has been applied. Bonus
        $500 offer ends 30.09.2021 Promotion
        applied to your order

    • +1

I hope that is not true!

      • +1

Why did you participate in this promotion when in the last one you said you got charged the extra $400 after not returning the phone? (ps. you also said you purchased 6x Ultras then too, why did you need more?).

      • +5

Just digged up your history and it looks like after you were charged for $2400 bonus for 6 phones ($400 each) earlier and you still buy two phones this times. You look very convincing! HA HA HA

      • +1

        Any proof?

      • Hmm, that is the first I have ever heard of a charge like that. Can anyone else corroborate?

I have yet to be charged, and I purchased on 3rd September. So I dont see how your -$500 is possible.

Are you saying you ordered before I did?

  • +1

finally got a 256g s21 for $309…plus trade in a huawei p30pro which value $190 but will keep it.. can i send another broken phone back to samsung to avoid $60 admin fee?

    • +1

No. Either you keep the phone and take the $250 fee (admin + original trade value), or trade it in to retain the $309 purchase price.

    • +1

I think that if you return a broken phone, Clause 5.6 (b) will be applicable and you will be charge the in-eligible Device Fee instead of Clause 5.6 (a) which charges both Device Non-Return Fee and Device Non-Return Administration Fee.

    • +1

same here - trade in a huawei p30 pro which was purchased around 4 months back @ $669. Confused whether to keep the phone and pay admin fee or to return. Any advise would be appreciated

  • +1

This doesn't trade in Google Pixels 2.

What phone can I buy cheap used to make this work? I assume it's still active, or it'll happen again.

$350-450 for a new S21 sounds pretty solid!

    • +1

      recent ipad/tablets work too FYI

    • +1

Cheapest phone I think is Iphone 7

  • +1

Will be interesting to see how quickly all of these weekend orders turn in to "dispatched". I assume no one who order past 5pm friday has received anything beyond "order received"?

    • +1

Ordered around 1pm Saturday. Still "Waiting for Approval".

      • +1

Have you gotten an order confirmation email?

        • +1

Yes. Confirmation email came through within a few minutes of placing the order.

      • +1

I just got one today(Sunday) around 1 and it says preparing dispatch.

        • +1

Strange I don't know why mine is still in awaiting approval even my first order is not delivered yet which I made on Thursday and other guys already got their orders delivered.

    • +1

Friday 11AM still waiting for approval

    • +1

Ordered Saturday 4pm now it says preparing dispatch.

    • +1

My saturday S21 Ultra order has now turned to "Preparing for dispatch"but my base s21 order from this morning is still in "waiting for approval"

  • +1

Anyone having isuue with trade in saying trade in not available at the momeent due to error

  • what does it mean if i ordered the phone on friday and it says still waiting for approval

    • +2

I think it depends on the phone model and area you are in, i am not sure it's correct or not. I ordered s21 ultra 512gb on Friday the but its still waiting for approval.

      • +1

Give them a call and they'll speed it along.

    • Where posted above?

    • holy shit is that right?

      • If it is then we all are ******

        • oh no im freaking out, thats BS. The T&C when I signed up specifically said I will get charged only $75 if they don't receive the phone

          • @Homr: Do you have terms and conditions handy? Can you please provide any link or something?

            • +1

@randomrandom: no I don't. It was the screen where you enter your Credit card, and the amount pops up saying that this will be charged if you don't return the phone

    • when did you buy / trade-in the phone and when did you get charged both the trade-in value + the $500 bonus?

    • +14

You said the same thing for a similar s21 trade in deal in June of this year, without providing proof. And knowing that, you still bought 2 phones this time round? Make it make sense my guy.

      • +10

I hope you're right, I just read all his previous post

This guy needs to be banned for purposely spreading false information. I almost had a heart attack when he said we were going to get charged $500

        • Same here i almost touched the roof sealing lol

          • +1

@randomrandom: Yeah, I believe he is wrong.
I purchased back on 3rd September, and I was never charged any deductions. Its now 5th Oct.

        • Someone please report his comments :P.

      • LOL exposed, wonder what's his motive…
